The Capital Grille - I Drive Ratings and Reviews
A Valentine Date splurge for the Filet and Butter Poached Lobster. So very disappointed. The steak was two small pieces (have you ever had a filet that was two 1" x 3" pieces? - me neither). The lobster came out with crispy burned top, had to be sitting minutes under a heat lamp - awful. They apologized and took it back. 7 minutes to replace with the exact same steak (which was supposed to be rare) and two more lobster that I could not even pierce with a fork. I said, no - and if this is how you butter poach, I would like to make another selection. They said, they would get it right. Third time - the 300 degree plate came back with the same steak pieces, now completely grey throughout and one lobster that was close to what I expected and one more tough one. I gave up. The noise level in the room made it impossible to hear each other, the service was spotty. A free glass of wine was produced, which was appreciated and the one meal comped, but it was a special occasion and we made reservations 15 days in advance. If they did not have staff to adequately serve they should have told us at the door. Hubby's lamb was, as he said, "OK". ps: Don't get the potato au gratin, it's mashed potatoes with globs of cheese and a wad of bread crumbs. I eat lunch there at least once a month, and always have a good time, this was off the chain bad.
We've been the capital grills before and this one was disappointing. The service was less than exceptional having been forgotten by our waiter whom we never saw and only improved when another waiter took over. After receiving the wine list which was under explained to us no one appeared for 20 to 25 minutes. The steak that I ordered came wrong and had to be replaced. The replacement steak was not of the quality I would have expected from a Capital Grille. It was quite noisy and we had to talk quite loudly for the people across from us to be able to hear our conversation. All in all very expensive and disappointing meal.
$56 Ribeye was heavily charred. We ordered medium rare plus. Inside was correct temp but outside on one side was black. Tasted ok at first but char tast was overwhelming. We ate anyway. They ended up taking off our bill but we are surprised they served this way. Augrotten potatatoes were superb! Best part of meal! Clam chowder was good and hearty. Chocolate lava cake ok. Lemon drop martini was not the best we have had. Dissapointed overall. Probably won’t be back. We wrapped own leftovers.
The Capital Grille serves up a pretty good steak, but it is not a place for the bargain hunter. I attended a conference held at the Hyatt Regency next door. After a couple of days cooped up in hotel conference rooms, I was ready to get out. So, a good steak and a glass of fine wine was just the ticket. It was a Tuesday night and the place was pretty full. Maybe that's part of the "Trump effect" - everybody thinks they're rich. The waiter was nice enough, but I was dining alone this night, so he seemed distracted by other, larger parties in the section. He did steer me toward a bone-in filet that was pretty darn tasty. Capital Grille has a new "contraption" that allows them to extract wine from a bottle without removing the cork. This allows them to serve virtually any of their wines by the glass. So, I was able to have a glass of a Chateauneuf-de-Pape that I couldn't have otherwise tried. (By the way, that wine was real good) It was enjoyable. However, a glass of wine, a steak, and a piece of cake for dessert ran just shy of $200, so be forewarned.........
Marcos was a terrible waiter. He rushed us from start to finish. We didn’t have time to enjoy our drinks or salads because he rapidly brought our entrees. He took our partner’s plate while others were still eating. That’s a big faux pas! Didn’t enjoy him, the rush, or the noise. Will never go back and I gave Marcos a very small tip, which was very undeserved. I’m sorry that I left a tip at all.
Was seated in the front room looking at I drive very cold temperature in room and just overall unpleasant
Waitstaff were aloof and disappeared mid shift. A new waiter came over and said he was taking over for the first waiter who had to go home. No loss the first waiter was useless
An assistant manager came over more out of obligation it seemed and only wanted to know if things were “perfect”. When we didn’t report it was “ perfect” using his word, he only asked again “it’s perfect right? “
We were like whatever go away. Useless. Don’t bother ask.
Usually we love capital grille but this one on I drive has certainly had its day.
It was a great night at the Capital Grille, my wife celebrated her 50th birthday and she enjoyed every moment of it. The food was great, tasty and filling we both recommend your location to friends and family and even suggested to have a family night out at your location whenever we visit Orlando again.
We loved every moment of our stay at your restaurant.
It was so busy and LOUD that it almost spoiled the experience.
Would be nice if someone could have asked certain patrons to refrain from shouting across the table. It was difficult for many around to truly enjoy their meals and / or hear the person across from them.
We come here annually however I think we will remove it from our dining rotation. Although the food is very good we felt the service has dropped a little and I was particularly disappointed that we ordered two bottles of white wine that the waiter even said was not chilled the way it maybe should be but he poured it anyway. It was slightly cooler than room temperature which was unsatisfactory. It was done again on the second bottle as well. Why it is not being refrigerated at a proper temperature makes no sense and why it would be served that way, again, made no sense.
Other than that the food is very good albeit extremely expensive but that is known going in. I guess when you spend over $850 you would expect everything to be flawless.
Very nice atmosphere. Bar is active and fun without being intimidating. Bar staff always smile as they take care of you. Reservation using Opentable was a cake walk. We sat within 10 min of our reservation time. Fresh oysters and steak tartare were a perfect pair as appetizers. Ordered the recommended Bone-in Fillet med rare. Well.... It was amazing. Cooked perfectly. So tender that you only really needed the fork. And the flavor was unbelievable. From the bar to dessert, you can't go wrong at the Capital Grille on I-Drive. Perfect to take a date or have business dinner. Or simply go and just have a great meal. You won't be disappointed
Spendy-YES, but service and food are outstanding. $500 plus tip for a party of 5 included appetizers, 2 bottles of wine, 3 sides for the table and a drink.
Great place to make a good impression and to have a good time.
I will prolly go again if I'm not worried too much about the cost.
We had scheduled a dinner at the restaurant weeks ago once we knew that we had a meeting in Orlando. One of our attendees had to fly back to DC and the restaurant accommodated our request to start early if a table was available. We got a great table, the service was excellent, and the food as always was wonderful. I will be back in Orlando in two weeks and already have a reservation for dinner.
The food was excellent, I had the filet mignon with mash potatoes and spinach. Really tasty and cooked as requested. Quite a smart venue where you can feel comfortable dressing up. Service was good and the staff were friendly. The manager of the restaurant came over to us during our meal to check our visit had been to our liking which I really appreciated. The restaurant is definitely on the more pricey side but I feel the choice of food and drink and high quality of them both justifies this.
Overall this is a 4.6/5 rating from me.
