The Capital Grille - Garden City Ratings and Reviews
We rely on Capital Grille as our "go to" for special occasions as we consistently have a flawless and memorable experience. Although the food is wonderful, the differentiator is the customized service. The servers at Capital Grille are so well trained to be intuitive but not intrusive, professional and pleasant - it's really always a pleasurable experience! We asked to sit in the bar area with our party of 8 and upon confirmation I was told every effort would be made but it might not be possible - I completely understood. Upon arrival there was a special table for us in the bar area - which made my son's 21st year birthday celebration even more relevant and special. Thanks Capital Grille team for your excellent effort.
We've been here a few times and it was good. I do not, however, like sitting in the large room with the open kitchen. I much prefer the small rooms off to the sides. Food was very good, but I should have asked for my filet mignonette to be butterflied as it was cooked very unevenly. MW on the sides and MR in the middle. I asked for Medium.
I really enjoyed this restaurant very much. Our waitress "Melissa" was very informed and patient since this was our first time there. The food was phenomenal and I liked the cozy little room that we were seated in and the background music was non intrusive. To start I had a cosmopolitan and he had a Manhattan. I had the sliced filet mignon w/mushrooms and fig essence along with string beans & tomato and he ordered the swordfish w/lump crab gratin and mustard vinaigrette w/spinach. Both were very delicious. Dessert was crème brulee w/fresh berries for me and he had the warm double chocolate cake with port wine infused cherries and ice cream - topped off the evening w/coffee and tea. A really elegant place and I'd definitely recommend it for special occasions as prices are a bit expensive, but worth it because of the attention to details with service and food preparation. If you have left overs they wrap for you and there is a tag on the bag thanking you for coming and taking some food home w/you from the chef! Nice touch.
I took my wife here for her 40th birthday. The service was great and overall, the food was very good. My only complaint was the waiter pushed the porcini rubbed bone-in filet and it wasn't very good. My steak, a rib-eye without the rub was fantastic. When you spend $75 on a steak, it should be perfection. I'd go again, but I'd avoid the porcini rub.
Crabmeat appetizer and tuna tartare, bread, ribeye - all excellent.
Filet mignon sliced was chewy and a mixed serving. The sliced meat was not filet as it was too tough. The actual filet was delicious. Don't order.
The homemade ice cream lacked taste, and the sherbet was colored ice.
Learn their specialties and order those. Then it's a satisfying meal.
Food was good although very pricey as you would expect at any Steak House. We had 7pm reservations and were in the car at 8pm. The meal was very rushed I guess because it was very crowded. However, when spending $275.00 for two people we should not be pushed out the door! Typical Corporate Chain get them in get them out. I'll stick with Peter Luger instead.
My wife and I had a great experience at Capital grille. It was recommended by friends and was better than we anticipated. The service was great. Very polite and professional. The food was delicious as well as the drinks. We will definitely be back and recommend it to friends and family
We go to Capital Grille often. We are even locker holders. This night the food was horrible. The beet salad and goat cheese had zero flavor and our steak came out like shoe leather. If this was my first time there I’d never go back. I’m just striking it up to one bad night.
We were seated quickly despite being 20 min late. Had a party of 10 to celebrate my 30th Birthday and they were ready for us. Our drinks came out quickly and out waitress was very sweet and polite. Our dinner came out about 30 minutes after ordering ... ( a few ppl at the table ordered their steaks well done). I ordered medium well and my steak and lobster were amazing. I cannot wait to return. Great for birthdays, nice date, and great for business meetings.
