The Capital Grille - Ft. Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
We were seated in what appeared to be a meeting room. About 7 tables in tight area. Noisy. Especially since nearest table had boy & girl about 5 & 7. Nicole was very nice, but seemed to be in a hurry. Manager came by to hang my table mates napkin on vacant chair without speaking or noticing 2 empty water glasses. My bone in ribeye ordered medium rare came out medium. Outside was charred. A little tough. Did not care for the uncharged rub & balsamic. Not a great steak. Fleming's was far superior. My friend had filet & lobster tail which was excellent.
Overall not one of Capital Grills best efforts.
Without a doubt, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at aCapital Grille restaurant and I have dined at them all over the country.
We were seated immediately upon arriving at the restaurant, and that was the last positive thing we experienced. We waited for a server to approach the table, we waited for a cocktail and wine menu, we waited for drinks after we ordered them, waited longer to order food, and continued to wait for our server who disappeared for 20 minutes at a time. We arrived exactly at 8:00, and did not leave until after 11. 2 of our meals were fine, 2 were not. A filet was dry, and my bone in ribeye was just a disappointing piece of meat. The baked potato was hard. I finally received the glass of wine I had ordered as I was taking my last bite of steak.
Apologies were offered, but it was too late. Almost 400.00 for a terrible experience.
Never again to this establishment.
The Capital Grille was a unique experience. I had only been to one other location and it was several years ago. The food was great although it was very expensive. The service was above average and I like how they have two waiters - one for before and one for after the food is served. The atmosphere is very old school steakhouse.
The table we were provided seem to be placed there as another way to add a table. It was in the walkway to the kitchen. Not once but twice a server dragged a trash can past our table to the kitchen. For this type of restaurant at these prices I found this to be unacceptable. I'm in no hurry to go back. There are plenty of better places at better prices with better food. PASS.
Fantastic food and high end ambiance. The best part of this wonderful restaurant is the staff. They are absolutely second to none. I have visited here multiple times before and every time their wait staff is spot on and they pay attention to all the details. You do pay for it of course but it’s worth it in the end!
What an extremely disappointing evening at CG FL. Myself and other guests were severely inconvenienced by intoxicated diners. I informed the bartender Anna Leesa but she did not seem to care or was overly concerned about the situation. She later disclosed that it was ‘not her section’ . So much very representing the CG brand of excellence...
The manager John was extremely defensive and condensing towards me and somewhat aloof. I will reach out to miss Cole to discuss in detail.
I recently dined on two consecutive nights at the CG Naples at it was flawless.
As usual we had a great time dinning at your restaurant. The food was very good and served as well as it should.
The room is quiet and good for gathering with family and friends.
But the best part is always the service, we always use either Bill or Miguel to help us with dinning and we always appreciate their professionalism and courtesy, we feel like friends with them what gives us a very pleasant dinning time.
Why such a mixed review? Dining at the Capital Grille in the past has always been a a very satisfactory experience. The service was always excellent, the food presentation impeccable and I always left anticipating my next visit. I rated the ambiance fair because our booth was next to the open kitchen. It is always noisier and hotter in that area and even though it is in vogue to design restaurants with open kitchens, it really is not the most comfortable area to be seated in. I decided to go to Capital Grille for Christmas Eve thinking it would live up to it's reputation and I was very disappointed. Through the entire dinner I felt rushed. I hardly sat down before the waitress was pushing bar service. Not being a heavy drinking family, we decided to order a bottle of wine and skip the cocktails. Oh horrors, we then committed a water crime and ordered regular water and not Perrier. Now it's time to place our order and my friend ordered a "CROCK" of Onion Soup. Notice Crock is capitalized and in quotes. Ho, ho, ho! A bowl of soup with a pool of it in the saucer - $12.00 please. Dinner was served and it was very good as were the sides we ordered. We were celebrating my daughter-in-laws birthday and they served her complimentary dessert. I ordered coffee and would have loved a second cup, but after she presented us the bill and collected the signed credit card receipt she was never to be seen again.
We have dined here before and had great food and service for my party of 13. Last night it started out great celebrating my anniversary but when the table next to us had problems (?) our service suffered. This is wrong for this restaurant. We became frustrated and felt the overall value wasn’t there like our dining in the past.
I was actually disappointed in Capitol Grill, I guess I expected more. First I was miffed that my request for seating in the bar was ignored, not honored. I had made the reservation earlier in the day. I overheard the hosts discussing it as if it was an insignificant request. I did see two table that had “reserved” signs on them in the bar, so obviously they do take reservations for that area, maybe just not on open table? So what’s the value of this app?
Anyway to the food!
I ordered the twin lobster tails as a entree. It had almost a fishy taste to it and that’s always a signal to me that it’s really not that fresh. Also it was very “chewy” which says it was over cooked. Now I realize that I should have sent it back but honestly it’s just such a downer on the meal and conversation when you do that. Everyone at the table feels bad and you really ruin the meal for the other diners. So I suffered. The waitress was attentive and provided good service for everything, I probably wouldn’t go back. Go across the walk way to Season’s 52 where the food and service is better. Also the hosts are much more accommodating!
