The Capital Grille - Chicago- Rosemont Ratings and Reviews
The Capital Grill never disappoints. Great food, great service, and great ambiance. My wife and I stopped here for lunch, we had the French Onion Soup, Mushroom Bisque and the crab and lobster burger. Everything was excellent! Their tartar sauce has tarragon and capers and is about the tastiest version we've ever had.
The noise level was very high. While my steak was very good and my wife's salmon was good, we ordered the string bean side. They were terribly under-cooked. When we complained they gave us another serving. The same result: very under=cooked. Also, $13.50 for a martini is not a good value. The waiter offered me a taste of a red zindafel and failed to mention the price. $24.00 for a glass is high, but I should have been given the price and an alternative choice
They have the wedge salad, notably smaller over the years and a wine list selection via an iPad interaction. My wife and I selected a bottle of red from Western Cape, South Africa for $119. It was a good selection. For dinner we decided on sword fish with crab meat and a fillet of beef tenderloin which they divided on plates for us to share. We ordered a salad, dinner and tea plus coffee for a total $314 with tax and 20% tip. Unfortunately, it was a very nice time and too high a price to visit more than a few times per year. Surprisingly this Capital Grill location, by 6:30pm was very crowded; at the bar, in the dinner room and waiting in-line. We considered that the reason must be the airport hotels or business expense accounts.
We had never been to this restaurant before, although we had been to the one on Ontario. This one proved to be better than the downtown one. Everything was close to perfect - superior ambience and service, great waiter, wonderful food (beef and salmon), lovely drinks and wine.
We will recommend this restaurant to anyone we know who is going or coming from O'Hare and has a little time. I've tried several nearby places, and none comes close to this one. Bravo.
Had never been to Capital Grille but was anxious to try it, having heard good things. While the service and ambiance were good, the food was not. A $51 steak (with no sides--they're separate) should be amazing but it was tough and flavorless and yes, I should have sent it back but didn't. My bad. The shared sides we ordered were just "okay" but others in my party enjoyed them so maybe I'm just being picky. Probably will hit some of the other Chicago steak houses before I'd return to Capital Grille.
The food was very average and over priced in my opinion. The best thing I had was a Shrimp appetizer and a "In Fashion" drink which is their take on an old fashion. The service more than made up for the lack of excellent food though. It's nice they have free valet. Plus our waiter was kind enough to provide us with 2 free glass of champagne, a free shrimp appetizer, and also a free dessert. We were celebrating our anniversary and our waiter did a spectacular job taking care of us. They even provided us a photo after we were finished dining.
John our waiter was attentive and helpful in choosing the right steak for us. From the crab cakes to lobster bisque and the perfect ordered steak we were happy eaters. As a birthday treat we were served a free flourless chocolate cake and creme brûlée cheesecake sampler The French martinis were great. This is our new go to special occasion restaurant Haven’t had a bad experience yet.
We celebrated my husband’s birthday dinner on 11/10/17. The restaurant went the extra mile and had a Happy Birthday note on the table along with fun birthday themed confetti. Our server, Nicole, was excellent. She made helpful suggestions on the evening specials and advised what dinner entrees would work for our particular dietary needs. She was very attentive to our needs and made it seem like we were her only table. Our food was excellent, the lump crab appetizer was perfectly chilled and the mustard based remoulade provided the right acidity balance for the dish. My husband had the tenderloins with the butter poached lobster tails and I had the seared sea scallops with mushroom risotto. The tenderloin was like butter, no steak knife needed and the lobster was tender and very flavorful. The scallops were perfectly cooked, nicely seared on top and rich and tender on the inside. The mushroom risotto added a very earthy, warm flavor to the scallop. We planned on ordering desert, but the restaurant went above and beyond in celebrating my husband. Nicole brought out a glass of sparkling wine for each of us and a desert duo of the flourless espresso chocolate tort and a cheesecake with a mixed fruit glaze. I can’t thank them enough for making this dinner extra special for my husband. We will definitely return to this restaurant and will request that Nicole be our server because this was one of the best dinning experiences we have had.
This was my first experience at Capital Grille and I was not disappointed! I had the tenderloin with baby lobsters and it was fabulous. The tenderloin was done to perfection and the butter sauce over the lobster and tenderloin was perfect. We share sides and I particularly loved the lobster mac and cheese and brussel sprouts. One out of eight of us order dessert which was a coconut cream pie, it was huge and we all had a bite and loved it. Great restaurant and awesome service! Almost forgot....the Stoli Doli martini was incredible!
The only issue we had was with seating. We were originally seated in an aisle next to the kitchen and asked for a quieter table, took a few minutes to sit us at a similar table. So we pointed to a table away from the kitchen and the busy aisle and the hostess told us we needed to walk back to the front with her in order to change the printed seating slip they use. I’m not sure why we needed to walk back with her as opposed to her seating us and fixing the slip. Other than that our server Brian was great and our food (filet and halibut) was very delicious.
We went there for a quick bite at 8:30 pm. Thought it was late but the restaurant was full of diners and the atmosphere was vibrant and lively. We sat in the lounge to enjoy our burgers and wine in a more causal setting. Some people were socializing by the bar, some were watching games on the big screens. Everyone was enjoying themselves. Great place to be .
Steak was good but kind of dry. They did not offer a drink menu. When I said I would like a glass of pinot grigio they gave me a very expensive glass rather than providing a drink menu. I thought that was kind of sneaky of them. I ordered a second glass of wine and it took over 10 minutes to actually get it. Mashed potatoes were runny and small portions to share. There are much better steakhouses with better service in the Rosemont area.
Capital Grille is a true dinning experience. We decided to try the Waygu Burger and Wine Special in the lounge area on 10/27. The burger was great and the wine was outstanding. Sadly the service was sub par. The waiter seemed to not care about our table as much as other tables that were going to have larger bills. Our server did not even bother to ask if we would like mustard or ketchup for our burgers or fries.
If you don’t wish to be spoiled beyond the limits, then stay HOME.
TCG will make the dining experience unforgettable.

Capital grille has amazing service. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and very attentive. They went above and beyond by surprising my wife with dessert for her birthday. I will come back in the future and recommend it to people. Plus the food is always excellent.
Sea scallop was very good. Steak needed more seasoning. Bread basket was awesome but I'd liked it better if they served them with fresh whipped butter. We celebrated our 22nd anniversary. They used to give complimentary champagne and gourmet desserts and take photo of us as keepsake. Now, they just give you chocolate molten cake.
After shopping at the outlet mall for a few hours fueled solely by adrenaline, sister and I desperately need some food and we decided to go to the Capital Grille which is conveniently located next to the outlet mall. It was 2:30 pm on a Tuesday and we decided to order the Wagyu and Wine special which is only served in the lounge. At $25, this is truly a special deal! The full-size Wagyu cheeseburgers (and truffle fries were perfectly cooked, and the pairing wine - Caymus (2015 Cab) and Emmolo (2015 Merlot) - were exquisite. If you know wine, you know what I am talking about. Our server Tee gave us excellent service. He explained the menu to us well, very friendly and efficient. My sister lives in another country and we only get to spend quality time together once in a long while. Our restaurant experience at the Capital Grille (Rosemount) on that day was extreme pleasant. Dining there was a spur of the moment decision but we could not have picked a better venue. I'd love to come here again and again!!
My sincere thanks to Tee and the chef at the Capital Grille.
Just when we think it can't get any better, self-park at the attached parking structure is free when dine at the restaurant :)
