The Capital Grille - Chicago - Lombard Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I go to Capital Grille often. It is simply my favorite restaurant. The combination of the delicious food and exacting, friendly service can't be beat--in my book, at least. I can't endorse it as a value, exactly, because it is expensive, but as a splurge, you won't be disappointed. At last weekend's visit we were seated in the bar, even though we were there very early. When we sat down, the bar only had a few patrons. I asked about smoking, and was told there wouldn't be any, but wasn't thrill with the choice of table when there was a big empty dining room waiting. Well, it turned out I should have spoken up, because as the bar filled up, it became unpleasantly noisy in the room. My husband is of that certain age where background noise obscures almost all conversation. So we ended up having a gastronomically satisfying dinner, but not a particularly emotionally satisfying one.
Definitely go to Capital Grille, but if conversation is an important part of your evening, do not sit in the bar.
Very good food cooked exactly they way we expected. Server, Christina Moser was exceptional.....not too overbearing but considerate enough to give us time to enjoy our special occasion. She was extremely courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. Great attitude. We very much appreciated the kind note we received celebrating our anniversary. Down side- the bill was a bit of a sticker shock- the entrees .... I understand but $11.00 for a drink and salad (salad didn’t seem too fresh but not too bad) doesn’t make sense to us. That would be the reason we wouldn’t return more often.
The food is exceptional - beautifully presented. Great wine list.
The waiters are all very attentive - an eye for detail.
Our waiter, Niko, is an exceptional gentlemen- very knowledgeable and helpful with dining choices. Attentive but not intrusive.
The chef created a beautiful platter of birthday sweets including Happy Birthday written
A definite place for a special occasion.
Or just a place to go if you want to be pampered !!
Thank you for your exceptional service last night. Our server Tony was fantastic, he had such a pleasant demeanor, he was informative and attentive all evening. Everyone at the table felt the same. Thank you for such a great experience, we look forward to visiting soon.
From beginning to the end it was a memorable experience. Our server was attentive and accommodating. The food was top notch. Filet mignon melted in my mouth. Garlic shrimp appetizer had so much flavor. Complimentary birthday dessert. Our waiter took a photo of us printed two copies and delivered them in attractive birthday cards. Manager checked in on us to make sure we were content. Just perfect.
I was celebrating a friends birthday. The staff made us feel very special. They had a few special touches to help us celebrate her birthday. Our waitress Melody was fantastic. The entire staff was great, from checking our coats to an after dinner drink at the bar.
First time at this Capital Grill, thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Kara was our server, she clearly explained the menu & was very attentive without hovering. There was just enough time between courses which allowed my husband & I to actually have a great conversation. Looking forward to another dinner at CG in Lombard.
The food was outstanding. The filet and N.Y. Strip were cooked perfectly. At the beginning, service was slow. It took time to get our drinks and the table did not have two place settings. However, once the food arrived, the staff was very attentive. Two managers came to our table during dinner to ensure everything was up to our expectations. For some reason, the room we were in was chilly. I would recommend Capital for special occasions. It's a nice place for a quiet or romantic dinner.
I get excited when I come here and then, I have to talk to the host staff. I have never had a good experience with them. They are always short and sometimes just rude. I don't know what it is, but they should be the most pleasant people, as they are the first experience one has with the restaurant. Otherwise, our server was nice, but we saw her take some dishes from the next table over and she spilled a drink on someone's coat. It was a innocent mistake, but the staff should be conscious of how they handle dishware that is not empty. Overall, the food was very good. That's what saves this place or else, or I'd just go to Perry's where the host staff is 100 times nicer and accommodating.
