The Capital Grille - Chicago - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Came for my dads birthday and the simple decor and card at the table was so nice :) we loved the champagne and dessert to compliment our AMAZING dinner we had. The sliced filet and roasted chicken were particularly delicious. Valerie, our server, was also so sweet and really enhanced our experience. We will definitely be back!
This was my first time and it was great!! My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary and the whole occasion was special from the beginning. We were about 20 mins tardy for our reservation but everyone was accommodating. In fact, as we were being seated, they wished us a happy anniversary! Once seated, we found little cut-outs of hearts and a card from management! Our waitress Lara was awesome (always checking on us and even offered to take a pic of us) & the food was great! At the end, we received complementary desserts (a delicious cheesecake and a sort of chocolate cake). The plate that came with the desserts had “happy anniversary” etched into it with chocolate...highlighting once again the awesomeness of this place. 5/5 Stars for sure.
My girlfriend and I decided to enjoy her special day at this place and the whole experience would not have been way better if it was not for Eric. He made us really comfortable and since it was our first time there, we really needed all the help we could get. From the great suggestions on the best dish to try to the informative conversation about which places to visit in Chicago, the whole dinner time was just the best. We are definitely going back to the Capital Grille, all thanks to Eric and the pleasant atmosphere that’s at the place. We also got 2 birthday cake pieces which were luscious, not to forget a birthday card. Tonight was unforgettable.
I was very disapointed in the service at this Capital Grille. The server was extremely Slow and his appearance looked like he had just rolled out of bed. I ordered a Dt. Coke and was a brought a bottle and ice which is fine but the bottle was so flat it was terrrible. When our steaks arrived we had to wait 10 minutes just to get our steak knives. My Filet was awesome which is why I gave 3 stars but my wife ordered the bone in Filet and it was horrible. The meat was extremely Fatty and nothing like a filet should look or taste. After our meal was done we had to wait 15 minutes just to get our plates cleared away. If you are in Chicago go find another steak restaurant to go eat at this one is just not worth the visit. I will say that the Capital Grille in Indianapois is superb with the best service I have ever had so I guess we just had a bad experience at this particular location.
We had a very disappointing experience which started with being seated in the bar. We were celebrating my 50th birthday and we were with our young children. Being seated in the bar with young children while celebrating my 50th birthday was unacceptable. When asked to be moved, we were treated rudely. My children have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world and have exceptional manners so there was no need to push us off into a noisy bar table. When we were finally seated at another table 20 minutes later, our food was just okay. My Brussels sprout salad was so salty I couldn’t eat it and our waiter never inquired as to why my salad was virtually untouched. My husband’s steak was disappointing. The one positive note was our waiter brought a nice birthday treat at the conclusion of our meal.
A wonderful experience from check in to the coatroom. Everyone treated us like VIPs. Our meals were great and cooked exactly to temperature. We loved the attention to our requests and superb cocktails. The coconut pie is a must try and very shareable. All in all a great find and certainly worth a return visit.
My wife and I recently ate at the Capital Grille during our romantic weekend away. Having identified that we were on a 'date night', the hostess placed us in a cozy room of only 5 tables near the window. The ambiance was lovely. Diego, our server, was amazing! We were spoiled with unordered tastes from the bar and kitchen while Diego recommended cocktails, a great wine, and delicious selections from the menu. For my dinner, he arranged a blend of the two daily specials since I could not decide. Having travelled the world and experienced many restaurants, I would recommend this Capital Grille to anyone -- the food was excellent, and Diego was knowledgable, friendly and attentive -- one of the best waiters ever!
Overall I enjoyed the restaurant and had a great experience. As far as the menu goes, I felt there was not a particularly decent amount to choose from. My date got a steak and it was delicious, I got chicken and it was tasty, but the carrots were extremely hard and difficult to even cut. The dessert we got, cheesecake, was the best tasting cheesecake I have ever had! I would go back just for the cheesecake.
This place is "customer friendly"!!!! They really care whether or not you are taken care of.
We've eaten all over the world and we bring our French family and friends here, and they love this place. If a restaurant can please the French, then it is topnotch.
As usual, The Capital Grille serves up great food with outstanding service. We have been to this location many times and we are never disappointed. The bone-in filet was cooked perfectly to my request, the lobster mac n' cheese is always a decadent delight, and the experience was memorable.
After a long day of walking around in the cold rain, stopping in before dinner for a drink was just the elixir I needed to shake off a chill. The bartender was funny and personable, and the wine list provided ample selection. The wait staff was their normal, attentive selves, living up to The Capital Grille standards. They somehow know how to be attentive to the diner's needs without being intrusive or bothersome; they are there when you need them and somehow they disappear when you are in the midst of a vigorous conversation at the table. This is where The Capital Grille wait-staff really stands out; they actually pay attention to the customers and "read" the table.
The food was, as usual, excellent, the server also was amenable. I was quite disappointed when I asked for a booth for three. They said noting was available except the booth they led me to near the very back and large enough for 6 people. I stayed I was unhappy and after a while, surprise! There happened to find 2 booths available for my party of three. I have eaten here before and have never been stuck in an overly large and somewhat hidden area. I am considering spending more time at Ruths Chris. I hope your other guests get tested a lot better my party of 3.
My wife and i frequently travel to Houston and enjoy dining at The Capital Grille at Town & Country. I took a recent trip to Chicago with 3 other business associates and wanted to treat them to a five star dinner so I chose The Capital Grille in Chicago. As is the case in Houston, the service, ambiance, and food was beyond stellar. I encouraged the guys to order the bone in filet and it was truly the best steak ever! They all agreed that was by far the best steak they have ever had. Being a creature of habit its good to know that an organization like yours can provide the same quality of food, service, and ambiance from one restaurant to the next.
