Fantastic scallops. Diego was the best waiter I have ever had. Service impeccable. Can not wait to go again.
Service excellent. Food excellent. Price is on the high end. If you don't mind paying for great meal with great service, then this is the place for you.
Excellent service. Was not rushed. Truly a very enjoyable experience.
Wonderful Filet and great service. I love this restaurant. Have never been disappointed here!
Perfectly cooked steak and excellent service
Everything was great!
My favorite place for dinner in Chicago besides my sister in laws.
It was my son’s birthday and they made it even more special with a hand-written Bday card and confetti at the table. We celebrated with a complimentary glass of champagne as well as desert. The steaks were great and the truffle Parmesan fries were to die for. The chocolate espresso cake was divine! Highly recommend the restaurant - great food, outstanding attention to detail by the staff and great service.
In a city that is known for its steakhouses, this is still the best of the best. The best beef. The best service by a long shot. And even for a high-end ala carte steakhouse, the best value. Every now and again I stray because there are a number of the national chains with locations here that I think do a very good job. And there are some pretty good local Chicago-only outfits too. But in Chicago specifically, there’s nobody that holds a candle to these guys by a very large margin, especially the St Clair location. Consistently excellent.
What a fabulous experience. Our outstanding server Valerie was on top of everything from the moment we sat down to the moment we walked out the door. The food was delicious, the atmosphere is classic yet warm and inviting. Our birthday celebration culminated with a champagne toast with dessert. I would highly recommend the Malbec by the glass, perfecto!
Likethe one in St. Paul, dining here is a coveted event and quite possibly the best meal with impressive service found in Chicago.
We had a wonderful lunch with our daughter, who we don't see nearly often enough. The food was great, the wine was excellent, and the service was attentive.
The food and service was excellent. It was very nice to have a hand written birthday card waiting for me at the table. The complimentary dessert tray was also a nice touch.
Our waiter was so amazing! Very kind and attentive. He made the evening notable for my husband and I. The food was great but I have to say again, the service was most memorable. It's not hard to find a good steak in Chicago but it's not as easy to find great service. Capital Grille definitely delivered. The dining room was also very nice and great for a romantic date with your love. Drinks were equally exceptional. We will definitely dine at Capital Grille again when in the area. Thank you for a great night!
Consistently great cuisine...I get the exact same thing every time I go... lamb chops, lobster mac, creamed spinach... and I'm always satisfied!
Brussels Sprouts were wonderful. Porterhouse was cooked to perfection.
Great place for special occasion. Excellent food and ambiance.
My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary here! The food was delicious and the lobster bisque soup lived up to its reputation. They acknowledge our celebration with a card and heart on our table. All members of staff who interacted with us congratulated us. Made our day even more special. Recommended for romance with your love.
My waitress was an absolute doll, very knowledgeable, polite, attentive. She made my experience very memorable.
Great dining experience! Definitely going back!
Dinner was good
The Tomahawk Lamb was perfectly cooked.
ME GUSTO MUCHO, UNA EXPERIENCIA INCREÍBLE, FELICIDADES
My husband's birthday was over the weekend. We're so happy we chose Capital Grille. We always have a good meal there. Starting with a Stoli Doley in the bar (delicious pineapple soaked vodka martini) we then moved to our table. What a nice surprise to see confetti & a card from the staff! A complimentary champagne toast while we made our menu choices. Great service from Rich, our waiter for our spicy calamari, shrimp cocktail, steaks, mashed, creamed spinach. Every bite was delicious! Then a surprise dessert with candle! So many nice touches to make for a special night.
Great steak restaurant. Nice mix between traditional and modern interior. Bar has great crafted cocktails.
My wife and I came here for my birthday. The food was incredible, which is what you’d expect from a Capital Grille. But what most stood out was the absolutely friendly, warm, and excellent service - from Julia behind the bar to Diego our waiter. They were both so personable and friendly and made our evening that much more enjoyable. And the Capital Grille even made a nice little celebration out of my birthday with some table decorations and special note and desert from the chef. They didn’t draw obnoxious attention to it, either - it was just the right amount. People make all the difference in a business, and birthday or not, it was easy to see that the people who took care of us genuinely know what it means to provide excellent and welcoming service. Top notch.
Excellent value for Chicago Restaurant Week. Food and service were exemplary.
Our waiter Rich was wonderful! He was very engaging and attentive and the food was as always very good.
The maitre d was awful. When we walked i they said the wait was 1.5 to 2 hours. Checked on open table and there were tables every 15 minutes all night. Made the reservation and asked why this could have happened... they said “oh “open table” puts you in the overflow room... it’s not as nice...” they were wrong the founders room or whatever they called it, was romantic, warm and quiet.
Aaron, our server was great.
I will not go back and do not recommend because of the front staff. Go to Chicago Cut instead. Better value and better steaks.
The was a return trip to THE GRILL.
We selected from the National Restaurant Week menu.
The seat adjacent to the bar provide a wonderful view to east, west, south, and east. It was look being in the four corners.
The staff leaning on the wall making the picture frame crooked and using the wall to check on table was light entertainment .
The wedge salad ,tomatoes , with bacon, and top with chunky blue cheese dressing was very good. We as that the keep the bacon and place ranch dressing on Roc on the side. We both required additional dressing .
The main course was salmon seared and finished in oven at very high temperature. The mash potatoes were the equal last weeks meal . The string beans were tasty.
The crème brûlée with various berries was to small for serving and you needed another course, you wanted more.
Good choice for restaurant week. Good steaks and good service
I loved celebrating my birthday at The Capital Grill. The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding (Diego is amazing!!!). They made me feel so special from beginning to end.
I went to Capital Grille for my birthday. Upon arrival they had put special touches on the table and a handwritten note wishing me a happy birthday. Aaron, our server was wonderful. They went beyond expectations, we'll be back.
Just great. Terrific deal for restaurant week in chicago
Great service, pleasant, great ambiance.
This was my first time dining @ the restaurant and it was AMAZING! The food was GREAT as well as our server Derrick he was very informative.
As always Capital Grille delivers. We dine here every year for my boyfriends birthday. The food is always excellent, the service is awesome and I leave satisfied.
One steak was was undercooked and not medium as requested and greatly explained in detailed. It was taken back and appeared to be just warmed up in a microwave losing all of its flavor. We were assured that this was due to a hear lamp to keep food warm. The waitress was trying to help us and sent the manager over who was arrogant and let us know it was our fault. He literally ruined our evening with his pastering... our waitress couldn't have been nicer but we will not return due to the attitude of the manager.
Dining regulars came this time for Restaurant Week. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated at 6:55. Because of the delay, we were given a plate of inedibly spicy calamari!
Once ordered, our respective meat dishes were both too rare and had to be sent back. From there we were rushed through our meal. As we were finishing eating, the dining room had emptied considerably so releasing our table should not have been a consideration. Even our water refills (we did order wine and cocktail too) had to be begged for.....
And, our waitress was trying to sell the two entrees carrying an extra charge; we had not asked for suggestions!
I live in the neighborhood, but with so many other dinner options, I will be hard-pressed to go back to Capital Grille.
