As always, the food at the Capital Grill was superb. Our waiter was attentive yet not overbearing, and we had a totally enjoyable evening.
Server was excellent
Marcquette was a fantastic server who made sure we had everything we needed and wanted. He was able to explain everything on the menu with great detail as we made our decision and was so friendly. Food was good as usual, and it's hard to beat the value of the restaurant week menu price!
Excellent service, especially considering it was restaurant week when servers sometimes are not as pleasant because the meal is discounted.
Our meal was great and our waiter Charles M went above and beyond to make it an exceptional dining experience
Our waiter, Tyler, was phenomenal. He provided us with excellent service and information on a few different food options. The food was excellent, best steak we have ever had. We most definitely will be returning and hope to have Tyler as our server.
Excellent customer service my server was awesome.
One person filet was not good. Sent back replacement was better, never had this happrn
Fantastic food and service. Great steak house.
Very enjoyable. Waiter Charles M. very attentive. It was restaurant week. I’ll be back. Great atmosphere
Nikki was outstanding!!!

Please let her know , 10🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The menu for restaurant week is an incredible value and the lobster Mac And cheese is excellent. I do wish they had a sitting area for guests waiting for their table. The tiny lobby area was packed with people and no place to sit. It seemed like everywhere you stood you were in the way of the hostesses and servers due to the lack of a proper waiting area. Overall the experience was great. The food was tasty and I would definitely return.
Great service and special attention for birthday dinner.
Capital Grille in Friendship Heights (Chevy Chase) is a joy. We often eat in the bar, but we booked a table during Restaurant Week and dined with friends. I had been there earlier in the week for lunch and both experiences were stellar. In fact, I liked our server (Marquette) so much that I requested him when we visited for dinner a few days later. The service was impeccable--Marquette was attentive without being intrusive, water glasses and wine glasses refilled when needed--a delightful experience!
Because it was restaurant week, the restaurant was packed! Even on a Wednesday. I had asked on my Open Table reservation to be seated at a table, not a booth. When we were shown to our table, it was a booth. The staffer asked us to wait until a table opened. After several minutes with no open tables, he suggested we might sit at a table that was not being used because (I think) it was at the edge of the dining room and a hallway. At that point, we decided to accept that table.
While we were eating dinner -- which was very good -- the staffer came to the table, apologized for not noticing our request concerning the booth, and comped our meals! That was amazing! My feeling about the Capital Grille from the few times we have been there is that it is very professionally run, and giving us free meals for our inconvenience was a true mark of their professionalism and high level of customer service!
I went there for lunch to participate in Restaurant Week. Otherwise, it is too expensive for my pocketbook.
If someone else is footing the bill, I would go more often.
Definitely more crowded than usual on a Monday night for Restaurant Week, but we had terrific service from Melanie as we celebrated a birthday.
This was for a special occasion. Despite the fact the server got my order wrong (wrong cut of meat) they made a new dish, gave us extra sides, and did not charge us for my dinner. It was my husband's birthday and they brought him a bday dessert platter with mini desserts on the house. I love Capital Grille. Great Service.
Great meal, good service.
My husband and I went here for our birthdays with our family of 4. The food was delicious and their lunch menu was great. For our birthday we got 2 small desserts decorated with happy Birthday on the platter in chocolate. My son absolutely loved it!
Excellent service by Curt, perfectly cooked steaks, and pleasant atmosphere.
The steaks were perfectly cooked and the service was excellent.
Great food and service. Pricey but worth it for a special occasion
We are from England and have visited the restaurant twice now
The food is brilliant and the staff are just lovely
We always enjoy our experience at the Capital Grille. What made it extra special this time was the excellent service from John Low our waiter. It was our anniversary and they made it extra special.
Private room dining experience...absolutely wonderful!
Christmas Eve with family
Very poor service and problems with the food. No one took note of my reservation requests (75th birthday party for my father who is 90% deaf) and they tried to seat us at a very noisy table with no special birthday confetti (which they normally do for special occasions). This once was my father's favorite restaurant, but he's decided he doesn't want to ever go back.
Solid good hospitality with great quality food and drinks; we will be back soon
Our waitress Heather is the best
Linda, our Server was FANTASTIC. Her serving style & skills was top notch. & kudos to Chef Alex for making a scratch made Vegan Veggie Dish with Seared Tofu. I will absolutely return with the V on my chest & enjoy this Steakhouse theme & engaging atmosphere.
Kudos across the board.
Excellence through the holidays! Even when restaurant was completely full, food and service still outstanding.
Extra thanks to Manager Bryce who after a previous visit promised to ensure our allergies were noted, completely fulfilled that promise.
Great service 😊. Food excellent as always.
The food was OK, if not quite up to the standards one expects for the price. My bone-in ribeye arrived tepid, and I've cooked better ribeyes at home. The problem is the overall experience was lacking. The waiter was young and may be good someday, but he's not there yet. Small mistakes like forgetting a glass of wine, not bringing sugar with the espresso are not the end of the world.
But what distinguishes a restaurant is class, and that is what was lacking at Capital Grille. The big snafu here was at the coat check, when there was considerable confusion about finding the coat for one of our party. She happens to be handicapped and wanted to sit down at the bar while we waited to sort it out because it was uncomfortable to stand. I asked the bartender if he could serve us a drink on the house while we waited or did he need to call a manager. He said he had no problem with that. Eventually the coat situation got sorted out but Capital Grille determined that the confusion resulted from the customer, who did not recognize her coat because it had been turned inside out. So the bartender at the behest of the manager reneged on comping the drinks. Honestly, another $50 on top of a $500 restaurant bill is not a problem but the restaurant was at least in part at fault and classy places will stick with "the customer is always right" and make sure everybody leaves happy. This didn't happen, and we won't be rushing back. There are plenty of other expensive steakhouses in Washington where the steaks are better and the establishment is classy. They don't create situations like this or they minimize the pain if they do.
Despite having made a reservation we waited in a very crowded noisy bar an unduly long period of time. The steak was mediocre and the coconut desert that had long been a favorite of mine at the Chicago Capital Grill was a poor sloppy rendition. Won’t be going back to this establishment and if my next trial at another Capital Grill is equally poor will abandon what was once my favorite steak house franchise
All six of us diners had yummy food and enjoyed our meals very much. The beginning salads were tasty and large enough to split between two, and the shrimp cocktail contained very large shrimp. We ordered salmon, tuna, rack of lamb, and three steak, and shared creamed spinach, truffle fries, and mushrooms, all of which were delicious. Although we dined on a Thursday during a pre-holiday week when the restaurant was especially crowded and noisy, we did manage to converse and got used to the somewhat frenetic speed of the servers rushing around. We did have an attentive, knowledgeable server who contributed to the fun feeling of the evening.
Fantastic service, delicious steaks and starters! Excellent all around!
Always a pleasure to have dinner at Capital Grille. Tonite we were there to celebrate my newly minted CPA son.
Food and drink was excellent, but the star of the night was the server. With so much homogenized, polite but unenthusiastic service that lurks at the upper ends of the food service industry, she delivered flawless hospitality, with a great big side of personality and many extra touches along the way. Well done AMANDA! You made it a truly memorable evening.
