We have eaten at this restaurant three times over the past 4 months, and last night was our last. We had a magical evening the first time my wife and I went there -- great food, great service, as we celebrated our anniversary. They really went all out -- rose petals on the table, complimentary desert, etc. The atmosphere was really nice, and we had a wonderful evening!
Hooked, we went again a month later, this time with our kids to celebrate my wife's birthday. On this occasion, they overcooked our steaks. They made good on this mistake by cooking me another one to take home (my kids didn't care, and enjoyed their overcooked steaks, basically rolling with it rather than complaining...they were hungry and that's what kids do.).
So fast forward to last night, when my wife and I went again, this time for a belated Valentine's dinner date. Unfortunately, although many of the same positives were present as from our first visit (i.e. rose petals on the table, and giving my wife a long stem rose at the end of the evening, etc.), the food was just not up to snuff. I ordered a bone-in filet mignon, and it was brought to our table lukewarm. Now, prior to ordering, we had joked with our waitress about visit #2, and how the steaks were overcooked, and nonetheless "here we are again!" at Capital Grille because we had such a good experience at our first visit. So I didn't want to complain, and frankly, I don't know whose fault it was (we noticed that it took a long time for our food to come out of the kitchen after ordering. Was it just sitting there? It sure tasted that way). That filet, which I barely ate because of this, cost $66. Our meal was over $200 after the tip. It just wasn't worth it! If I'm dropping that kind of money, I at least want the food prepared properly. So I give up. The hunt to find a really good steakhouse in metro west continues!

Food was as great as always as was Joseph’s service. However, we eat at this Capital Grille a lot and didn’t appreciate our request for a booth being ignored. A table would have been fine in the main restaurant, but we were stuck in a small back function room area cramped at a tiny portable table that made the evening less than perfect and especially on Valentines Day. Now that I know that they blatantly disregard Open Table requests I’ll go to one of the many other steak houses to choose from around the city. That honor them. Too bad as we always liked this restaurant.

Greeted warmly by 3 ladies upon entrance. Terrific service with Aaron. Lots of energy with a smile. Had oysters and salads (kale and beet) to start followed by halibut and steak, with two sides, Brussels and au gratin potatoes (they are the best). Food was delicious. But we made the mistake of ordering way too much. No problem, we took it home. Only disappointment was the chocolate molten cake (but we ate it anyway). Place was packed, on Valentines Day, but we still had space and privacy. Also, manager came by to visit and was nice enough to bring us a bone for our dog!

This was one of the best dinning experiences I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I came to celebrate an early valentines day and immediately when we arrived, we were greeted by the hostess Channing. She could not have been more welcoming and inviting . She even went out of her way to set flowers on the table for our special occasion which made it a truly special evening. Their employees have a high attention to detail. I’d highly recommend dinning here for their amazing service and thoughtfulness of their customers.

Very good staff. Food was great but could have been warmer. I had the tenderloin and butter poached lobster ... my lobster was not warm and there was no hint of butter. My date had the porcini crusted ribeye which tasted great. I wish I had ordered what he ordered.

We have enjoyed the dining experience at the Chestnut Hill location for years. Renato Santos was our server and has been several times in the past. He is friendly, attentive, professional and by far our favorite server. We hope to visit TGC Chestnut Hill and Renato again in the near future!

Always a pleasure to dine at the Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill. Service is great. I had one of the signature dishes: dry-aged crusted NY strip. Well cooked, tasy and delicious. For the first time we were seated next to the bar and it was really loud. It's recommended to stay in the main dining room to really enjoy the tabel conversation.

Totally disappointing. A 7:15 reservation for four was seated 7:50 at a table for six. Waiting area narrow and crushes against a packed bar. Noise level was beyond being able to hear. Deafening.
Four people at a 6/8 person table continued this dysfunction. When asked about another table there seemed to be little concern. Only after contacting someone else were we able to move successfully. As of 8:30, no dinner orders had been taken.
Service was less than you would expect with the arm of a wait staff person dragging food in front of you.
Food over cooked: tuna dry and tasteless, ditto the mashed potatoes. Lobster bisque uninspired. Little taste and dried out pieces of lobster in it.
Would recommend this restaurant for none of the categories listed above.
Avoid at all costs. The one in Providence is head and shoulders above this. Seems like a totally different place.
For a bill of more than $400,00 for four people, I would expect a great deal more.

we were seated on a very small table with minimal space. they had to remove the candle to allow for placement of bread basket. i requested a booth and had to wait one hour to be seated.i believe the restaurant is too small for the amount of patrons they want to accommodate . they recently did some renovations and removed the booths along the side of room big mistake. the staff and waiter were excellent and apologetic. i have always liked the capitol grill and considered it a high end restaurant. the next time i make reservations i will definitely request a booth.
