Great food, excellent service
As expected, the food and service was excellent! A superb choice for a great steak, delicious sides and a wonderful coconut cream pie.
My steak was remarkably undercooked and otherwise not as good as I thought it should have been. Server was very good but was hobbled by the ridiculous iPad wine list. Overall this was not what I was hoping for based on my past 15 years of experience with Capital Grille in various locations.
Totally disappointing. A 7:15 reservation for four was seated 7:50 at a table for six. Waiting area narrow and crushes against a packed bar. Noise level was beyond being able to hear. Deafening.
Four people at a 6/8 person table continued this dysfunction. When asked about another table there seemed to be little concern. Only after contacting someone else were we able to move successfully. As of 8:30, no dinner orders had been taken.
Service was less than you would expect with the arm of a wait staff person dragging food in front of you.
Food over cooked: tuna dry and tasteless, ditto the mashed potatoes. Lobster bisque uninspired. Little taste and dried out pieces of lobster in it.
Would recommend this restaurant for none of the categories listed above.
Avoid at all costs. The one in Providence is head and shoulders above this. Seems like a totally different place.
For a bill of more than $400,00 for four people, I would expect a great deal more.
Avoid at all costs.
we were seated on a very small table with minimal space. they had to remove the candle to allow for placement of bread basket. i requested a booth and had to wait one hour to be seated.i believe the restaurant is too small for the amount of patrons they want to accommodate . they recently did some renovations and removed the booths along the side of room big mistake. the staff and waiter were excellent and apologetic. i have always liked the capitol grill and considered it a high end restaurant. the next time i make reservations i will definitely request a booth.
Have never had a bad meal here. Just excellent. The service as outstanding yet non-intrusive, an the meals were timed perfectly without a rush feel at all. Would recommend to anyone.
Mediocre The room is old and tired The food is very average Cobb salad Tons of chunks of fatty bacon 3 tiny pieces of filet Salad leaves was not fresh
The Capital Grille no longer lives up to its reputation. The steaks there truly ARE mediocre in quality and taste. There are plenty of steak houses out there to choose from, and The Capital Grille deserves to be toward the bottom of a steak lover’s list.
We went on a Sunday evening. It was very busy around 7pm. Staff was excellent. Waiter was terrific (Renzo). It was loud, but that's ok. Food was good , not great. Had steaks. They were decent size, a bit tough, and the sides were average. Not worth the money. I believe there are better steak houses around Boston. Value was just not there. But the service was excellent.
We had an exceptional experience. It was my daughter’s Birthday. Small decorations were placed on the table, she was greeted by several staff and wished happy Birthday. She was given a coupon for an appetizer in her next visit and a tasty dessert plate. The service was outstanding!
Always happy with the cuisine and exceptional service.
For capital grille, it was a very medicre experience. The service was incredibly slow, table didn't fit our party, steaks weren't cooked correctly, table wasn't cleared properly and bread crumbs never cleaned up. Overall food was just ok. Felt like I was at a 3 star restaurant paying 5 star prices
My impression is Capital Grill has become irrelevant compared to other great steak houses providing a better value
Great food and service
Birthday- everything was great
Always great. Most consistently great restaurant I’ve ever been to.
The tuna is usually perfection, but tonight it was bland a bit chewy. Definitely not its usual melt in your mouth quality. Sides were wonderful however, and our waiter was fantastic.
Great Great New Years !l Our waitress Erica was outstanding
We now find it to be mediocre. Tables are too close and the food is overrated.
Outstanding New Year's Eve!!
Everything was fantastic!
We find the steaks to be superb, and the side dishes to be delicious. We wish we had room for the desserts. They look amazing!
Another great experience! I had the best steak I ever ate! I recommend the dry aged NY Strip.
Wonderful restaurant with great service and food. We have been many times to several Capital Grilles and have never been disappointed.
Capital Grill was fantastic!! The steak, service, and ambiance were all stupendous!!!
Disappointed with our meal tonight. Undercooked, lukewarm steak. Overcooked, cold lobster. 2 hrs & 20 minutes...very slow service. Everything was off tonight...bummed out.
After all the reviews wich i amde if 5 stars, it was nice of them having a complementary valet! So convenient 🙏🏼 Thank you for the great hospitality and great Food! I am so sad i forgot our hoster’s name (bald Asian) he was amazing, so attentive, always smiling and kind!
The booths are snug. Service is perfect.
We come here every year for our annual Christmas eve dinner, but for some reason this year the food wasn't as good. The service and everything else were wonderful, but the food could have been better. My husband and I both didn't feel well the next day too.
The service was excellent.
The wine was good.
The food was ok.
The medium rare steak was pretty much medium. The garlic shrimp had a lot of Mariana, and a little garlic, like someone was afraid of too much flavor. Also kinda spongy, like someone decided they wanted to err on the side of not poisoning me, and was willing to overcook it to be safe.
The creme brule custard was pretty good under a too thin layer of caramelized sugar.
A great Hamburg, one of the best around, with a superb glass of 1 of many really fine wines by the glass. This time Duckhorn Merlot. Service at the bar and elsewhere is always friendly and professional. I do love this spot.
Reliable choice for a fun and festive dinner. Food always good and menu is just right - lots of choice but. It ridiculously long. Service was good, or great. A little pushy and at times slow (left with no menus for a long period). Do NOT like the wine list on the iPad. I love my iPad but not in a restaurant particularly because it’s difficult to compare and contrast wines, prices, regions, etc scrolling through the device. Should offer a choice.
Holiday celebration with friends
Wonderful dining experience celebrating our kids’ sweet and suave 16th Birthday in December 2017. In addition to the delicious meal, our server, Denise, could not have been more lovely or accommodating. Thank you for helping us to celebrate this special family occasion in style!
We had typically come to this restaurant EVERY year during Restaurant Week for about 5 years in a row. Not sure WHAT happened, but we had not been to this restaurant in 2 years. The food, the service, the attentiveness of the staff is TOP NOTCH!!! It always seems a bit DARK inside which is the ONLY thing that annoys me. Atmosphere might be their goal, but when you can NOT read the menu without a light, it loses something
Went to Capital Grille Chestnut Hill to celebrate our Anniversary. This is the first time i’ve given a rating other than excellent. We were extremely disappointed in our meals. Steaks we very tough, no flavor for the price paid. In years passed when we’ve celebrated Anniversaries or birthdays there we were given a cocktails on the House when we were seated, this year we got nothing, actually didn’t get anything when we were there to celebrate birthdays this past year either. Too bad it will be a while before we go back as this was one of our favorite restaurants especially to celebrate special occasions.
I have always thought of the Capital Grill as our favorite restaurant for special occasions.
This last visit, however, was lacking in food quality , and we were all very disappointed with our meals.
Not sure I will return and I am sad to feel that way .
Service was good at first but then they got a bigger table and we had to wait 35 minutes to get our dinner plates cleared. So upsetting
Tried hard , nice waitstaff, lovely table decoration , complimentary anniversary cheesecake with a candle but there were lots of little slip ups , I’m sorry to say ....
We had to wait and eventually to ask for the wine list .
We had to wait and eventually to ask for refills of water .
The asparagus we ordered didn’t come out with the food.
The tuna tartare was delicious but some bits were very stringy .
There was absolutely no soap in the ladies bathroom for several hours .
The valets didn’t help anyone across the snow ...
Lots and lots of small things that made the whole experience good rather than wonderful .
Not what you expect at a restaurant with this kind of reputation and prices .
