The Capital Grille - Cherry Hill Ratings and Reviews
i called a month in advance requesting a particular table for 2 away from everything...I got the table next to the kitchen ...was extremely disappointed when i was told it was a very busy night and that if i wanted to switch it could be a while..That' s why i called in advance ...
I eat here often ... My waiter, as always was a pleasure...
I went on Valentine's Day with a female friend and was very pleasantly surprised. In spite of the fact that the restaurant was very busy with couples, my friend and I were treated to a first class meal. Our waiter, Bob, treated us very well and never showed signs of being too busy. Shrimp cocktail and steak with au gratin potatoes made for a first class evening.
Our server was lovely and the ambiance of the bar can’t be beat. The porterhouse steak was only ok- it lacked depth of flavor and was very slightly over cooked. The artichokes were delicious. The menu described the tuna tartare as having mango- but came out with cucumber- which I would not have ordered. Overall, an okay meal- just overpriced for the quality of the food we ordered.
The Capital Grille is our "go to" place for a romantic night out. Great food and great service. My review this time was downgraded because we asked if they could add a "butter gorgonzola" sauce to our rib eye steak, but instead got porcini rubbed, balsamic gorgonzola, which is one of the specials. We did not complain or ask for a replacement because we did not want to have to wait for them to fire up a new steak. Our choice. We know Capital Grille would have accommodated us.
The Capital Grille has never disappointed. From the moment you walk in until the time you leave is exquisite. Everything is of the right level from service, attentiveness, special touches, and of course the food. The atmosphere is elegant. My only rub would be our waiter who would address all the woman at his stations as “young lady”. Seemed a bit patronizing.
Service was good, but not as good as Jason Pransky. They served those crappy little rolls at first that have no taste at all, and I asked once again ( as I did in my reservation notes) for the heated torpedo roll. It arrived nicely warmed and a perfectly a tad crisp. And, someone called the next morning, to let me know they were going to mail the Birthday Photo Drew took, but somehow forgot to give us while we were there. That was great.
Unfortunately my Lobster tails were so tough that I choked on the meat. I did mention it to Drew, and the cook told him to take them off the bill, which was appreciated. But I would have been happier had the meat not been overcooked.
I also wish they would stop blocking the handicapped access at the curb by parking cars at the curbside. There needs to be a rule that valet parking means it goes across in the lot. I understand that a big tip makes the attendant willing to do a lot to accommodate. But inconveniencing everyone else really needs to stop. There is not enough room to pull into the area where the curb cut is. They think it is OK to block almost the whole area up to the drain in the ground. But that is not good for the elderly and disabled, who end up away from the curb because of that. Just because someone can tip ridiculously large amounts of money, that should not give them the right to hurt other people because they are so self important.
Typically this is one of my favorite restaurants however was very disappointed with this visit. I stepped outside of the box an ordered there chef suggested Aged Bone In NY strip with a Kona rub and shallot butter and Soy glazed Brussel Sprouts. Both items were completely charred and tasted like I was eating burnt charcoal. I would not recommend these items at all. I do however highly recommend the citrus salmon which I have had there before with a much better experience.
The old gray mare she ain’t what she used to be. Very very commercialized and I was extremely disappointed with the steaks . The lobster Mac and cheese was watery and the soy Brussels sprouts we disappointing as well . I’ll never return .
My husband and I went to dinner to celebrate a work accomplishment. Capital Grille is always our celebratory destination. The food is superb and the service impeccable. It is one of the few restaurants where we can actually hear each other without raising our voices. We'd love to dine there more often but it is too expensive for us to go frequently. However, we love to go there for special occasions. Highly recommended. Ask for Calvin as your server.
Delicious! We enjoyed martinis before our meal We shared the wedge salad , which was perfectly chilled and split for us. I had the porcini rib eye steak which was Delicious! My friend enjoyed the ny sirloin which she finished. I highly recommend the Cherry Hill Capital Grillo.
Make a reservation for dinner. Steaks are really good. Can be pricey with extras and drinks. This was a birthday for my daughter. Service is very good and food is great. Can be noisey depending on the crowd. We like this restaurant and go at least once a year.
Birthday celebration. Seated in "booth" in room shared with the bar. Much quieter than in
the main dining room. Otherwise, everything else matched our meals elsewhere in the restaurant. Service was good. Food was delicious. Special dessert for the birthday girl, and
a single flourless chocolate cake serving for me. I opted for the cake and gave up a cup of
lobster bisque. Really hard to part with either. Someday, I may opt for both separated by a salad.
