The Capital Grille - Boston Ratings and Reviews
We took a friend out for his 40th bday and they had left a card on the table, and sprinkled it with birthday confetti! They even brought him a birthday dessert. Everything was so good! Cooked perfect and tasted delicious. Very nice fine dining without being pretentious.
We visited Capital Grill for Valentine's Day. It was a busy night and we had to wait about 10 mins before we got sited.
It was our first time there and everything was perfect. Server was helpful with suggestions. Lamb and steak were delicious. Some decorations on the table, complimentary strawberries in chocolate and flowers for ladies made this evening truly romantic.
Will definitely come back.
My girlfriend and I came in for our first time on Valentine's Day 2018, and showed up about 5 minutes before our reservation and they were able to seat us right away and coat-check us which was great. Normally we aren't used to coat checking, but this was nice!
We were promptly seated and offered water and bread. The bread was actually to my surprise great! They had an assortment of bread: pita, focaccia, pumpernickel?, plain; along with butter with salt on the side (much appreciated).
She had the dry-aged NY-strip with gorgonzola and truffle, I had the bone-in Kona (dry-aged NY IIRC) with shallot butter. We ordered both of ours Medium-rare, I received mine medium-wellish. My first cut in made me guess myself, then the second cut I knew something was wrong. I was told originally that the steak is usually only medium-rare in the very middle so I had to cut the steak in half and it was mostly medium-rare. Our waitress did have the manager double-check the steak, and he instantly offered a new one upon checking it.
I really appreciate the manager's sincerity and it showed. I can accept a mistake when their is accountability and he demonstrated that especially on a busy night, instead of just another pass off "hey make this guy a new steak". He went above and beyond and comped it. You go out to eat together, not to wait or watch the other person eat. He understood that.
Our sides of Au Gratin Potatoes and Creamed Spinach were good and offered a good textural balance. For dessert, the ice cream you could tell was not factory made/bought which is expected at this level of dining. On a side note, I did order the chocolate cake with ice cream, but we were served ice cream with chocolate dipped strawberries which were also good (hard to screw this up!).
The room we were seated in was quieter than the main dining area, and served to be more intimate. If you're a little space conscious this may not be for you.
Overall a good experience. Will I come back? Maaaybe.
Better steak houses in Boston who know how to treat customers. Front of the house/management very poor in dealing with customers. They seemed overwhelmed with a busy Saturday night. Did not honor reservation requests. Asked to be seated elsewhere only to be told that we were not regulars and that they could not help us. Steak itself was great. Appetizers nothing special. Waitress was great.
The food was excellent and the ambience was cozy. It was our engagement anniversary and they made sure we had a lovely dinner. The table was decorated with rose petals and at the end the desert platter was complimentary. We would come back here during summer for sure.!
Capital Grille is a very nice, delicious and friendly restaurant. The atmosphere was a bit loud but not so much that you couldn't have a conversation. Very lively bar scene, friendly and personable staff, steak melts in your mouth!! A great find for any occasion.
Indicated when making res that it was our anniversary. Hostess greeted us with Happy Anniversary and took us to our booth which had rose petals on the table and a card signed by a number of the staff. Waiter wished us happy anniversary and there were several complimentary things added for us. The steaks were superb, rolls delicious and there were some higher end wines by the glass. Great place for dinner.
The steaks never disappoint; aged and seasoned to perfection.
Our visits to Boston always includes a dinner at Capital Grill where some if not all order a steak special. Portions are generous, including selection of side dishes.
This past visit our server/waiter ( Bleu) was attentive and welcoming. She also was knowledgeable with menu specials and comfortable with recommendations. A++
We have always thought highly of the Capital Grille. This location provides an intimate setting even though it is a large room. Having the bar area separate from the dining room is a big plus. Your servers will always be the outstanding feature, so accommodating and friendly (but some of the uniforms look a little worn and the color would be nice if it were a deeper hue of some color -not khaki). The bread you serve is outstanding-I have never had such a truly good assortment. You can tell that a lot of care has been put into making this place so inviting and successful.
Came for new years dinner.
Steaks are always good.
Asparagus was far to be desired.
Got a nice bottle of wine to split. Good stuff.
Drinks were great, service was great.
Helpful, but try to up-sell everything. I get it though.
Desserts were great as well. Tiramisu was spot on; almost perfect.
I am a foodie so I will pay for good food. This is good food but not the best. $$$ for steaks only with add ons for what I think are over priced sides. Mashed potatoes cost nothing to prep, make and serve, yet they cost what a less extravigant meal would cost else where.
I'd come back, but it's not my go to place.
