The Capital Grille - Baltimore Ratings and Reviews
The Capital Grille nails their standards in all locations and Baltimore is no different. Waiters remember their guests and lend the restaurant a very local steakhouse feel. Whether your party is two or twenty, all guests are attended to in a prompt and professional manner. We went during the Generous Pour event and it had to have been one of the best deals in Baltimore. They serve the best filets and the greatest cheesecake I have ever tasted!
Capitol Grille is a food lovers dream come true. The Kona steak is outstanding... in flavor, tenderness, and, appealing to all the senses. We enjoyed the many of the side dishes over the years, and, they each satisfy everyone's tastebuds.
From beginning to end, we were not disappointed. Our love for the Capital Grille, was, once again, reinforced as our favorite restaurant.
Thank you for participating in Restaurant Week and offering more choices on the menu than ever before. The food was excellent, the ambiance was great, but one of the things that always stands out is our server, Mark. He is always so impressive, and made our evening that much more special. The entire staff - from Mark all the way to the valet guys, were extremely courteous and attentive. Get yourself to The Capital Grille as soon as possible and enjoy excellence.
We very much enjoyed our evening at the Capital Grill in Baltimore. It is one of the upscale restaurants in the city, but has a hometown feeling when you walk in. This atmosphere is delivered by the very friendly and attentive staff, which was even more impressive considering it was restaurant week when we were there. We would certainly recommend it and can not wait to return.
Very nice place to eat. Food was delicious, staff was attentive and the selection couldn't be beat. The only negative feedback is odd decor of the taxidermies on the wall. It did not suit the ambiance of the restaurant and I don't care to look at deceased animals while I dine.
I've been to other Capital Grille locations for both lunch and dinner and this one was clean and well maintained and provided the same clubby atmosphere of the others. Aside from keeping us waiting for 10 minutes when we arrived early for our 5:30pm reservation, the service was attentive and we were treated very well. The food was very good and a great value for restaurant week. Ordinarily, the food is a bit pricey and seems to cater to those on generous expense accounts or be more suitable for special occasions.
We were really looking forward to going to Capital Grille because we heard they had the best steaks in town. But, our food was not hot, the waiter was not too on top of our drinks, and we just will not go back. Specifically, we ordered alcohol when the waiter first came to the table and didn't get it until after our appetizer was gone and our entrees were there.
WOW! we could not have asked for a better restaurant to enjoy a birthday luncheon for staff. I brought a group of seven and Paul (our server) ensured that we had the best time in a relaxed, comforatble and iviting setting. We were seated in a private room at the front of the restaurant which was perfect for us and allowed great conversation for all. Paul gave us a very warm welcome with engaging converstion - he is GREAT! - and then our food was served. This was the first time dining here for many of my staff and they were all impressed by the beautiful presentation of each dish which also proved to be absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared!
The birthday girl was then thrilled with the dessert selection - Fantastic end to the meal!
Excellence from start to finish. Good presentation of perfectly prepared food, delivered by professional and nice wait staff ( Ms. Meyer).
I prefered it to the neighbor, Fogo de Chao.
While we were there, Gilbert Sandler, the Senior Bard of Baltimore, came in with head of the Pratt, Carla Heyden.
The only issue we had was with the temperature of our steaks. I asked for medium well -a little pink in the center. My first steak was well done and then my second steak was medium. I just took my steak home to finish myself. Two other guests in my party had the same issue. The appetizers and dessert were both very good. I was celebrating my birthday with my family, and we all ordered off the restaurant week menu (that included dessert), but I was very surprised when the waiter delivered two little cheese cakes with candles in them for my birthday. Then he took a picture of the group and asked to hold my camera. He came back with the group picture - printed and in a frame. The resturant is beautiful & the service was wonderful.
Two other couples joined us for a Restaurant Week Special meal. We were seated promptly and only waited a few minutes in the bar which gave us time to get a drink. The waiter was very charming and answered our few questions with expert knowledge. Four of us ordered the "two tournedos" (small portions of filet mignon) while the other two tried the sirloin steak, which was a huge portion. We also ordered two sides of mashed potatoes and string beans since only the tournedos were served with a small amount of potatoes. The chocolate cake for dessert was divine.
I ordered my filets medium and my only complaint would be that one of them was cooked fine on one side but hardly at all on the other.
All in all a great dinner.
We, Wife and I, every other month dinned at a nearby famous steak house till three years ago... That's when we discovered the attentive and the often missed "professional" servers at Capital Grill. We fell in love with Capital Grill during our second visit where we were lucky enough to have the same server, for the server remembered us! Addressed us by our name plus he remembered the food and drinks we partake from the previous visit. What a rare treat these days, for many places consider themselves high end restaurant, often fails not of food but due to the server that are not properly trained.
Food is good, which is expected at places like these. But Capital Grill excelled in its service!
For that, we now dine there every other month.
