Lo que si está delicioso
This was our first visit to The Capital Grille. I must say, it was very close to a perfect dining experience. Beautiful restaurant, warm staff, great service by James Morgan, excellent food. Can't think of a thing they did that wasn't just right. I'm proud to award them my coveted Five Star Award. ;-)
Food was amazing but service was HORRIBLE! Our table was unanimous that our waiter was the worst we have ever had in a fine dining. We had a group of 14 & had our own room & the waiter wouldn’t even come inside so nobody on the inside on the room could order drinks. He brought the bread AFTER our appetizers & only when we asked a bus boy. He messed up our sides so only half the people got the sides they ordered. He was not nice or accommodating. The spacing of the courses was way off & the time between course was much too long. Luckily the food was good but when spending that much $ on a meal you should be treated better by the waiter.
Table wasn't ready on time. Slow service. Steaks weren't worth the price
We've chosen Capital Grille a few times for special-occasion dates, very happy each time. Both times--a birthday and Valentine's day-- we felt that through sheer luck we had the best table in the place. (Different tables, each great in its own way.) We had to wait 15 or so minutes later than our reservation time on Valentine's day, but that was time for a nice walk around the block and perfectly fine.
Service on both occasions was friendly and polite, though if we could cut through the cocktail-and-wine pushing faster, I'd appreciate it. Some people like wine or whiskey with their steak, I know, but we're really there for the food itself, and that could be a shorter conversation. Straight to the dinner menu, please! I admit that it's easier to politely ignore an iPad wine list than a waiter's spiel, though, so I'll take it.
The food is delicious and straightforwardly presented. I don't much miss the ritual of seeing the uncooked steaks that some restaurants offer, fun as that is. Even without a tableside inspection, our steaks were excellent, and my wife and I had to fight a little over the asparagus and the creamed spinach. Both times, the medium rare really was medium rare. I'm not enough of a steak eater to say more about the finer points.
The bread basket served with dinner is a highlight, too. Not *quite* worth the price of admission by itself, but before Valentine's we were still talking about the bread from our previous visit most of a year before.
Could there be more vegetable choices to accompany? Sure -- but the classics are there and great, and the lobster mac and cheese is a nice fun one, too. (Haven't tried their desserts, though.)
If they could nix the gigantic V.I. Lenin-style painting of Ann Richards, dinner would have been one shade more enjoyable. (No accounting for taste.) But we'll put up with that to enjoy the food and pleasant atmosphere, and look forward to the next visit.
Wonderful. The steak and lobster was the best I’ve eaten!
Wow. Some of the best food I've ever had. Pretty pricey but definitely worth the experience. Would recommend again.
Great dinner and nice service and ambiance
Enjoyed Valentine's day lunch with my love. Decided to have lunch instead of dinner to avoid crowds..it was delightful and relaxing. Capital grille is our fab steakhouse and seafood restaurant!
Absolutely outstanding! Our new top favorite! The food, the service, the atmosphere! All of it! Cannot wait to return!
I have visited other locations before, but the Autin location was particularly outstanding. Excellent and friendly service along with superb food. I would highly recommend this restaurant which demonstrates you get what you pay for.
They made a Special Valentine day for us. Initially between the lounge and the host were a bit uncoordinated, then it took a while to get our food, maybe they were giving us our time since we said we were not in a rush. My steak was well, instead of medium, but 12 mins later they brought me a medium one. Took a lot of time, but we were enjoying the moment. Steak was good and juicy.
The food and service was excellent for business meal
Visited my student in Austin and went here for an 830 reservation. Seated right on time although no tables were ready when we arrived early. Was greeted quickly by the waiter who explained the specials well and had us set up with drinks quickly. The filets that 3 of the party ordered were excellent as was the kona steak. My son and daughter thought the clam chowder was really good, and thought the lobster Mac and cheese was the best of any they have ever had, and they have sampled many. My daughter said that the capital grille moved up to be one of her two choices the birthday dinner. It had been 5 years since we had been to one as a family so pretty high praise. Service was prompt and attentive.
Fantastic experience yet again this is why we keep going back to Capital Grill. I highly recommend this restaurant some of the best steak and service will have.
Atmosphere was amazing
Staff was great and treated us well
I have tried almost every steak house in Austin, and I was pleasantly surprised by our experience at Capital Grille. Our waiter Kyle was attentive, informative and personable. Our steaks were delicious and cooked exactly as we requested. I loved the Kale salad. Peanut dressing is divine. This is a great, white table cloth experience. It isn’t too loud, as so many restaurants are these days. We had a lovely, intimate dining experience. I will be back!
