"The Canny Man's in Morningside is an Edinburgh institution established in 1871 and passed down through 5 generations of the Kerr family. As famous chef Rick Stein said 'The Canny Man's is the best pub in the world.'
The establishment is well known far and wide for it’s quirky nature and ‘never’ changing décor. The interior sees every nook and cranny filled with everything from moose heads to muskets, sheet music to stuffed animals. A genuinely one of a kind bar and restaurant. The restaurant specialises in the best Scottish produce with a strong focus on local suppliers. Alongside this they have a well stocked gantry of over a 200 malt whiskies and a large wine list. The Canny Man's is very much a unique experience in Edinburgh and not to be missed."

                    They had a private function in the restaurant area so we were given a table in the bar which was a bit tight but fine. The seafood platter was lovely and fresh and beautifully presented. The wine list is good and they have lots of beers and spirits too. The private party was quite loud but it didn't spoil it for us and being in the bar meant you got chatting to other customers too so it worked out well. We're going to try their Sunday roast soon because that sounds delicious.

                    Always a winner for a great night out. Food always tasty and varied. Staff are really top-notch, attentive and very pleasant. We were treated to complimentary champagne - a lovely gesture and appreciated by the four of us. Thank you Canny’s!

                    The service was excellent, as was the food and wine. We had the beef roast, which was probably the best Sunday roast I have ever eaten in my life. The meat was tender and beautifully cooked. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. On top of the starter (chilli prawns) and the dessert - sticky toffee pudding, were delicious. A fantastic experience and excellent value for money. Compliments to the chef and all bar staff for a fabulous experience.

                    We really enjoyed our first visit here. Lovely friendly staff and ambience. Worth the taxi ride out to Morningside.
