Food was generally unpleasant. Filets were tough and all food came to table tepid. Oysters though were very goos.
The seafood was clearly frozen. The quality was awful. Disappointed.
A must when we’re in the area. Had fish and chips this time - fabulous - crunchy and tasty. Also terrific crispy and cheesy Caesar salad. Food seems to have gotten even better. Service always excellent and love the on the water atmosphere. Fair pricing.
The hostess tried to seat us inside behind a huge piece of decor in the corner with absolutely no view at 6:00 with a reservation when there were only a half dozen occupied tables in the whole restaurant. We refused the table and asked to sit outside and she moved us after a brief delay. The food was less than average and the menu very limited. We would never recommend this place.
I booked a birthday brunch for my girlfriend abs another friend for Sunday and we had superb service and a wonderful table on the patio! We loved it!
Great food, service and view of the canal. Would higjly recommend the Cannery
We sat in the bar to start and had cocktails. We decided to stay there and let the hostess know. She said that we could take any table that didn't have a reserved sign on it. Two of us ordered the sushi rolls and two of us had the sea bass. Everyone loved their meals.
We had an amazing night! We sat at the Sushi Bar and the Sushi Chef Mark spoiled us! He created delectable treats that were fantastic!
Tuesday they only serve the happy hour menu. Great selection and prices.
Celebrated a friend’s birthday. As usual The food was very good and service even better. Unfortunately, they don’t offer birthday cake at happy hour, so I was a little disappointed in that.
Bob our server was amazing and went beyond the expectations!
Great location. Beautiful view. Went for brunch with a small group. Bottomless champagne was very nice. Food was delicious.
Beautiful location! Wonderful service and brunch menu-
Truly one of my favorite places now
Very expensive for the quality of the food. Lobster roll for $32, which was no different from what you would get in any fast casual restaurant for $20. Will never go there again. The only thing going for this restaurant is the location and view. They need to figure out their menu and provide value for their customers.
Skeleton staff, slow service, but cordial server. Very abbreviated a menu with just 5 choices. They said their kitchen was broken so used upstairs kitchen with few capabilities. Couldn't vary a fried chicken dish. Seemed like no effort to accommodate a requested change in preparation as simple as "please no frying." When things settle down more I'll go back.
We love this place, but I just wish these people who have little tiny babies would be more thoughtful and possibly just get a babysitter, it's not like the baby is enjoying enjoying view. But we're trying to enjoy the view with 3 nonstop screaming babies flanking us and of course the mothers do nothing and are oblivious. Not fun not cool. Maybe the cannery can seat all the family down to the right so they can all enjoy the screaming together.
Great meal, good service. Nice view of the bay. It was a very nice brunch.
Sunday brunch was very busy. Our server was efficient, but when we tried to close the patio drapes due to cold weather, we had to ask 4 times. Food was ordinary.
Love the Cannery and I’m a vegan!
Sushi items were not exactly as tasty as usual. Perhaps a different sushi chef this time. Otherwise, we enjoyed each and every moment of our experience as we usually do.
Took a long a time to receive food but food was amazing!
Can't beat the water-side dining location. Excellent sushi!
Wish I remembered our Server’s name, she was awesome.. Food was Excellent
Drinks were fabulous! Sushi amazing! Looking forward to returning! Great service! Thanks for an outstanding evening!
It was very nice
Everything about this restaurant screams Newport Beach
Fabulous evening for family dinner celebrating our daughter’s 30th birthday. Loved the spicy cocktails, delicious oysters & sushi, tasty cocktails, and the fabulous service of Alfonzo! Ambiance on the water at Newport Harbor! Beautiful evening, indeed!
The food was good, and the atmosphere was lovely. Best of all was our server Colby he was very attentive also had a good sense of humor. That really added to our enjoyment.
Next time i go I will want to make sure he is there. The valet who took care of us was also terrific.
Great all day happy hour. Disappointed they no longer customize orders.
Always great service, delicious food and ambiance at the Cannery.
Celebrating our anniversary. Exceptional service. Brought us a special dessert.
I would have to rethink going back their.
Here is what I didn’t like.
It took us about 5-10 min before our waiter came to our table after being seated.
First thing I asked, “is there anything off menu tonight”
He said no, we order a few sushi apps, and the food was amazing
Then a different waiter worked the table behind us the first thing he said to that table was, we have some sushi that not on the menu and described it we would of had the tune roll he mentioned for sure, he also brought that table bread we got none.
We ordered the sea bass and the fontina mash. We got the sea bass, again food was excellent we got the mash at the end of our meal, that was disappointing.
I also on the reservation note put down it was for a birthday and there was also no mention of that.
Overall experience was not good, but the food as always was great.
I don’t know if we would go back again.
Great food and service, as always!
Service was very slow and food average. Great location.
Thank you Bob he was our server w the blue 👀 eyes
Great spot for outdoor dining near the water! Food and service was impeccable and good prices for great wine bottles!
The food was amazing. Especially the sushi. The staff was wonderful and helped accommodate me when I messed up my reservation. Cannot wait to go back
Great goof and drinks. Excellent service!
What a disappointment! This is one of my husband's favorite restaurants, or I should say it was. We went on a Tuesday, without knowing Tuesdays is all happy hour from 4-9 pm. Cocktails are 2 dlls off and all food items are 50% off. It sounds good in paper, right? We ordered shrimp tempura and garlic fries, they were okay. My sons ordered kung pao chicken, and it was good, and its the reason for my 2 stars. My husband and I shared sushi rolls: the cannery roll, 911 and Pablo escolar rolls. They were horrible. It tasted like prepackaged sushi rolls. I feel they make lots of rolls in the morning, put them in the fridge, and they just cut and plate them before serving. They tasted cheap. Not going back to the Cannery anytime soon.
We were a party of 4 and requested outside seating for obvious COVID reasons. The hostesses, although friendly, did not have a good handle policing the mask policy. As we waited for our table there were numerous guest passing through without masks and hostesses did nothing to correct it. The outdoor section we were seated in looked like it was expanded to cram more tables in and we ended up seated near the parking lot across from an opening in the side of the tent. The space had only 3 heaters for about 6 tables and ours ended up running out of gas. The server said they did not have any more propane on hand, however, they did adjust the other heaters to accommodate. Although the food was ok, two of the original meals we ordered ended up no longer being available. At the end of the meal, the server did acknowledge the problem with our initial order and provided a nice little dessert for the table. This was appreciated. The menu has a very limited selection. However, their bar tender was very generous with the pour on the cocktails. It has been many years since we have been here, not a total disappointment, but we may not be coming back.
