Had a late breakfast here with some friends during memorial day weekend. I take my breakfast very seriously and have been to some top notch places in the past. This breakfast is one of the best.

The omelette station is awesome. You pick your ingredients and put them on a plate yourself. The spinach is as fresh as can be. Then you hand it to the chef and he does the rest. In the end it is an awesome experience...best one I've had in a long time.

Other items on the breakfast bar are great like the thick bacon, sausage, oatmeal and fresh fruit. Top it off with freshly squeezed OJ and you cannot go wrong here.

Just a great experience all around.

The Diplomat hotel has major issues with their rooms, service, construction and lack of food choices. So i could barely get a table at The Cafe as this is the only choice for an actual restaurant at the hotel. Once we finally got our order in, it took over 45 minutes to get our salads. a seafood salad with two shrimp, a small piece of gristly lobster (I think) and a bowl full of iceberg lettuce for $23.

The waiter never once came back to check on us and had to go track him down to get our check. To top it off gratuity is included as a "Service Charge" then there is a gratuity line making it impossible to tell if the service charge was the built in gratuity as it should have been called. Unfortunately, it is the only restaurant opened at the Diplomat for lunch and had to eat there again the next day. The service again was terrible and the food (another salad) of kale with a piece of tuna again with NO flavor was brought out 40 minutes later and never saw our waitress again. I had to go find a manager to actually take my credit card.

I now know why the hotel "Fresh" market had a line to buy prepackaged sandwiches as it was the only thing to eat there and you could wait on yourself.

I will NOT go there again.

I attended the LAAIA convention for the first time, therefore, I ate at the restaurant for the first time; I was not a happy customer with the service I was given. Our waiter took over an hour to bring our food and when our food finally got there it was missing bits and pieces of every ones meal. We called for the manager & he did show up, however, did not say much or even apologize for the inconvenience. I would have thought that the service would have been over the top considering that the hotel was, to me, a little upscale. I would not recommended this "café", so to say, to my family or friends.

I can't say enough about the service or the food. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in making sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent. Best brunch I've had in South Florida. Definitely a place to go to again and again.

The buffet was wonderful. We had three breakfasts there. Everything you would need to eat for breakfast. Coffee and juice included with buffet. Servers very attentive even with buffet. A little costly but typical with hotel breakfast. Would go again when staying at the Diplomat

Decent choices for a reasonable price. We especially enjoyed the small, filled (homemade?) donuts. Very nice and accommodating chef at the omelet station.

Restaurant could open the drapes to the ocean to make for a better atmosphere for the diners, presuming the sun would not be an issue.

My family and I went for lunch on the weekend we stayed at the Diplomat. By no means should you go out of your way to eat here. By that I mean, don't even trouble yourself to don a cover-up. Go ahead and eat at the Splash since there is nothing remarkable about this menu. I had a nice and friendly waiter. My son's pasta and chicken dish was bland and tasteless to me though he ate it. I guess it's good enough for a child. I had the turkey club. It had a nice avocado ranch sauce and the bread was perfectly crisp. My husband had the cheeseburger. All the food had good taste, it was just not remarkable. Just don't travel to eat there. However, I do want to say that we had very nice and friendly service!

Nice location. Nice view. Nice restaurant. Prices too high. But food was good. Wish we could have been allowed to walk the grounds and take in some fresh ocean air but security wouldn't let you through unless you were staying at the hotel. I think if you're dining at the restaurant and are not wearing bathing suits, therefore you're not looking to go to the pool or to the beach, you should be allowed to show your restaurant receipt and walk along the outside of the hotel to admire the view.

The only significant criticism I have us that gratuity was included. That seems a bit odd for breakfast for two.
