the C restaurant + bar Ratings and Reviews
Nice location, friendly and efficient wait staff. Food was just average, Sword Fish over seasoned, too salty. Steak good, but over cooked from requested preference. Appetizer was super, Calamari, coked perfectly. Great Wine list and first rate bar. Amenable decor. Valet parking. Recommend.
NYE dinner cost almost $500 for a flight of champagne tastings and fixed price dinner. Dinner was average, decent food, but not worth the price at all. Probably is a better restaurant for normal occasions, would not recommend for NYE or any other nights with a fixed price menu.
We were hoping for a little more of an upscale foodie lunch spot. Although he place was nice, clean, and updated, it lacked the little something extra we were looking for. The vibe was very much like a hotel restaurant (which it is so don't expect anything different!).
Food was decent but nothing exciting. The ceviche was fresh, steaks were slightly overcooked, and the fries/potatoes were warm at best.
Don't go with high expectations of a foodie type dining experience. It's your typical tourist hotel restaurant.
We ate in the "C" this past Christmas Day as well as the following, Dec. 26th for breakfast, both days. Each time our dining experience was memorable, attentive and outstanding. Not merely a hotel dining room, the "C" provides an exceptional vista of Monterey Bay from virtually any corner in the generous space, and it offers a wealth of fine fare and service to boot. We were treated very warmly from our first approach to the host's stand and throughout our complete meal each day. Our servers were friendly and completely competent. Not once were we made to feel as though rushing through the experience would help to get the holiday moving along better. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. We look forward to returning to the "C" for additional dining in the future!
The C cancelled my reservation and called me a no show. The date and time were for a day in advance of the planned reservation. I am not a Time Traveler into the future. How could I have possibly been a no show if the date hasn’t happened yet!!!
My biggest disappointment is that I was really looking forward to a special dining experience for Christmas Day, and The C dropped my reservation. Perhaps they overbooked, but that’s unacceptable.
Compared to other times, service was slow and we felt a bit neglected. We were the only ones seated on the patio with the best view of Monterey Bay. The swordfish sandwich we shared was tasty but a bit skimpy on the fish. We weren’t expecting fries so ordered sautéed fingerling potatoes, so ended up with fries and the other potatoes. The margarita was quite good. We will return again.
My husband and I dined on Thanksgiving night. Honestly, our expectations were not high for the limited holiday menu selection and what we thought would be mass-produced food. We were proven completely wrong, however, by the quality of the food and wine pairing for each of the appetizer, salad, main dish (I had the turkey dish, and my husband's steak was definitely cooked to order), and dessert. They did not cut corners in their outputs nor gouge in pricing. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
I recall having breakfast here several years back and that it was also a delicious experience.
We were here for a Thanks Giving Dinner & my parents 55th Anniversary. They had a window table waiting for us-- made reservations & asked for a special table, which they accommodated!!... wait staff was super friendly & helpful. Musical entertainment was a little loud? ... but that got better as the place filled up... food portions were generous & my rib eye was cooked to perfection. Cocktails were good & views of the Bay really nice!... most memorable moment was when they actually comped one of my parents Anniversary meals!!! Might have expected a free desert? But the went above & beyond. Not a place for a quick meal? But would definitely return & recommend!!!
A great location right on the ocean with a great menu and great service. The menu had two dishes my wife was interested in but told me, "I'd love if they could take the main course from dish A and substitute the sides from dish B." Well she asked the waitress if they could and the waitress said it wouldn't be a problem. She was very happy and my family loved everything about C.
Waiter was inattentive. My green beans were very tough. He never asked once how the food was. The waiter was very difficult to understand. He then chased us down after we left to accuse me of not signing the credit card receipt, even though he was holding the signed copy.
Love sitting by the ocean having a great lunch! The burgers were delicious and we appreciated the option of a good salad instead of fries. The citrus vinegrette was tangy and tasty without being sweet. Service was good. I did have to ask for water. We will return!
A great location and experience were brought way way down to disappointing by the pork chop that Wes served very not cooked thru, sent back, then returned(same chop) so we’ll done, it was too tough to eat.
Complaint went unresolved as there was no concession.
On another not, a $24 ChiChi was ordered with no vodka, but no change in price of drink.
The view and entertainment (acoustic guitar) were superb. But it stopped there
Wife and I were in Monterey to see the Aquarium. Read some very nice reviews re C restaurant so we made a reservation. Great location over looking the water. We arrived a little early so we had a drink in the bar. When our table was ready, we were shown to our table. Our waiter, Aciel, was very knowledgeable and gave us a few recommendations. I ended up with the Chilean Sea Bass and the wife had the Duck Breast. Both were outstanding. If we're ever back in Monterey, we will definitely return.
Nice variety on the breakfast menu, attentive but not smothering service, reasonably generous portion sizes. The kitchen accurately produced medium rare steak, medium poached eggs, attractive presentations of each of our plates. Everyone was pleased with their orders and we had a good time together - a sign that the staff did a good job all around.
Took the gf here for lunch on our drive down the Pacific Coast Highway. The Bloody Mary was amazing! We shared a Caesar salad. Very nice and fresh. I ordered the Kampachi Sashimi with radish, miso and yuzo! Light and tasty. She had the Pacifica Swordfish sandwich. Way out of her norm but pleasantly delightful. The view overlooking the bay was magnificent! The service was lacking. I think midway through our meal, there was a change in our waiter. Overall, it was a good experience!
Bonus: Since this place is at the Intercontinental Hotel. They have complimentary valet and parking for up to three hours. Just make sure the wait staff validates it when you pay.
