excellent service and food! A wonderful special Christmas dinner following a walk around the gardens!
Would eat there again! Worth saving up for! Great service and wonderful food!
Was looking forward to dining at Butcharts. Started with the mushroom soup which was tasty; followed by pork loin as it is something I don't normally cook. It was suppose to come with fingerling potatoes but parsnips were substituted -I hate parsnips! The meat was so tough I struggled to saw through it and difficult chew. I sent it back and decided on the same meal that my partner was enjoying - sliced beef with gnocchi, much better. According to my partner, the eggnog dessert was yummy.
A very enjoyable place to dine quietly with friends and/or family on a special occasion.
excellent service. good food. lovely atmosphere. i would bring any visitor to the island here.
Had my 80th birthday tea on Thursday. It was almost worth turning 80 for this experience.
It was also Christmastime so we got to see all the 12 Days Of Christmas light displays. Thank
You for a wonderful experience.
We LOVE our dinners at Butchart Gardens in the dining room. The food is always inventive, scrumptious, creatively presented, and perfectly prepared. Our service has never been anything less than stellar, and the ambience cannot be any better. Tonight was again another wonderful 5-star experience in all aspects. Thank you to the wonderful team in the dining room.
Dinner at the Butchard Gardens Restaurant is always a joy. We’ve been here for dinner 3 times now and for Afternoon Tea once. They outdo themselves each time. Will do this again.
Staff was wonderful! Enjoyed the afternoon tea very much on a very wet and windy day at the gardens.
Really fun, great atmosphere, fine food, good service. Highly recommended. Pricy.
We not only enjoyed the food but the service as well. The young girl, Sarah, who was busing our table, went out of her way to make sure that dishes were cleared up, water glasses kept full, and bread basket kept topped up. She even took a photo of our group, which was much appreciated.
Although expensive, the atmosphere, service and food were well worth the cost.
My friend and I had a wonderful time despite the rain. It was just beautiful!!
The whole experience from the 12 days of Christmas to being greeted with piano music to an awesome dinner served by a very professional staff person.
You can't get a better view than out the window looking at the Christmas lights at Butchart Gardens. Very nice meal, very upscale and priced accordingly. Well worth it on a special occasion.
Very cute restaurant. Went at Christmas time so it was decorated beautifully but overall already was a very nice building with a cozy ambiance and calm feeling. Ordered two seasonal afternoon teas for a family of four and it was wonderful. Very delicious food with an authentic feel of afternoon tea. The server was consistently friendly and did a good job with making us feel comfortable. The food came in courses, beginning with a trifle, followed by scones and cream/jam, and lastly the tray of goodies, mini sandwiches, and savouries, along with a nice pot of tea. The food was high quality and the treats were absolutely delightful! Perfect for a afternoon family lunch/tea. Would definitely recommend and do again!
No doubt coming here for afternoon tea is expensive. Luckily we have Butchart seasons passes (even tho I live in California, the seasons pass is still a great buy). However, nothing can compare to afternoon tea here! All other places pale in comparison! Ten times better than test at the Empress! Highly recommend.
As usual we were not disappointed, this is a yearly outing for my daughter and myself!!!!
This year hats off to our server, for her patience, as both myself and my daughter had a
difficult time deciding what to choose.......so many wonderful choices, decided on the pork chop
which was fabulous!!
The ambience and food are top notch excellent!
It was a nice dinner but the time between courses was unfortunately long. I would ask to be seated in one of the front rooms because we sat in the back sunroom and it was cold and noisy.
It was magical and delicious! I mean intensely delicious!!!!
Always our go to when visiting the beautiful Christmas display at the Gardens. The menu is well thought out, the food impeccably prepared & plated and the ambiance is guaranteed to get even the most Grinch like of guests into the holiday spirit
A wonderful ambiance with the pianist in the great hall and view of the twinkling lights. Friendly knowledgeable service, creatively plated meals, and locally sourced menus.
Everything perfect as usual at Butchart Gardens. We especially love it at Christmas and summer if you’re lucky enough to score an outdoor table.’
The food portion was too small for my sons. They are in their 30s, not teenagers.
great food and atmosphere... I would recomend this for a special meal. It was worth every penny.
Afternoon tea excellent and a better value than most although one must have pad admission fee to the gardens themselves (also well worth it). Nice choice of teas with a large number of cakes, sandwiches and desserts. We couldn't finish ours so took the rest back to finish of later. This was the seasonal afternoon tea menu which I do like better than the rest-of-the-year menu but that's just my pickiness in flavours. I definitely recommend the Dining Room to visitors to the Gardens.
Excellent afternoon tea, beautiful selection of eats. The rose tea was divine. Decorations for Christmas were very pretty.
High tea is fantastic!
Great afternoon with surprising highbtesc offerings.
We were going to order sherry but got the bill too soon. Everything else was perfect!
We have a least one afternoon tea a year at the gardens. Quality is always high and service is wonderful. This particular tea a few of us were disappointed with a few items on the tray. I don’t care for salmon and another friend thought the salmon in the pot pie tasted canned. We’ve always enjoyed the familiar chicken pie or mushroom “voul au vent”. I realize you can’t please everyone but would it be possible to have 2 options?
Also, the pound cake was actually unremarkable... it was dry and tasted of nothing in particular. We commented that it just even needed a flavoured glaze.
I only mention these two things because this survey was sent. Our tea experience was lovely and everything else was delicious.
I wanted a special celebration for my husband's birthday weekend and this tea room did not disappoint! Lovely setting, delicious food, relaxed pace, and impeccable service! Well done and thank you!
Excellent as always. The Butchart Gardens is the best place in Victoria to go for afternoon tea. The service and food are both top notch.
Great service and nice atmosphere！It would be even more romantic if we could have the experience again in the summer when the flowers are blooming.
Great spot for a high tea brunch. Looking out over the gardens while having a relaxing meal. Worth it for the ambiance and experience. The girlfriend loved it for her birthday! You need to order the flight to compliment the courses... it’s a must if your into pairings. After lunch we walked the beautiful gardens. Worth it if you have the time and are looking for something special.
I enjoyed my tea, but felt the price was high for what I received. That said, I appreciated that a gluten-free and vegetarian menu was available to me! Some of the food was very good, especially the savouries. The mushroom en croute, in particular, was delicious. The scone and sweets were a bit too sweet for my taste, though I'm sure others would enjoy them more than I did. The dishes were a bit dingy and the service was less friendly than at other restaurants I visited while visiting the area, though not bad by a longshot. Overall I enjoyed my experience, but probably would not repeat it.
Our very competent server helped to make our afternoon High Tea a wonderful experience. Fresh white linen tablecloths are important to me, as well as an unhurried pace, pleasant ambiance, and intriguing food offerings. My daughter and I had a delightful visit!
Went here to celebrate our one year dating anniversary. It was a bit noisy that day because of a large group but on others days it's a nice and quiet place. Our table was next to the windows so we had a great view of the garden.
We made reservation days ahead and asked if gluten free and dairy free was an option. No reply. We called day before and left a message and no call back. We find out when we arrive that gf is an option but dairy free is not (too late to back out now). Large dusty spider web above our window where we were seated. We waited 45 minutes for our gluten free scones (mine was uncooked in the middle). Server Phyllis was OUTSTANDING, she kept us up to date and kept apologizing for the delay. Yes we were comped the third persons bill which was very kind but I just expected more. Very disappointed.
Beautiful view, beautiful room, beautiful table, and wonderful food.
