The Butchart Gardens - The Dining Room
Took my mother here as part of our annual trip to wherever (this year was an Alaskan cruise with a stop in Victoria, BC) and very much enjoyed afternoon tea and a wine flight. Would definitely recommend!
Better than I had expected. The staff there, especially our waitress, was sweet and considerate.
Wonderful! This was the first time we sat outside; the weather was perfect, the service lovely,
and the food was very good. We got the Jenny Butchart view out to Brentwood Bay- spectacular!
Enjoyed the fantastic afternoon tea after visiting the garden very much. It will be perfect if we could be seated at the covered patio.
I met friends from North Carolina at the Gardens and we had afternoon tea.
It was splendid! Every bit as good as the high tea I enjoyed last month in the National Portrait Gallery in London.
While visiting the gardens my family of four (2 adults, 2 teenagers) craved an afternoon tea. We were sat at a beautiful table overlooking the garden. Our server was lovely, attentive and informative.
The trifle ( served first) was delicious, then the tiered platter with sandwiches, sweets and scones and cream was brought out after.
Though the presentation was very nice, the sweets and especially the scone was very disapointing. It was as if the selection was trying too hard to be different and was overly sweet and buttery. The scone with ginger in it just didnt work for any of our party. It was an expensive “meal” and we left feeling that our craving for a good afternoon tea had not been fulfilled. Kinda wished we had just gone for an icecream from the icecream store in the gardens.
Afternoon tea was memorable with beautiful surroundings, excellent service, and amazing fare. I was there with my husband and two adult daughters who are pastry chefs. The little lemon tart made one of them cry with joy.
Wonderful high tea experience
Another lovely lunch experience in the dining room after strolling the gardens. The food was exquisite and the young servers delightful. It was the last day of my annual pass and I definitely will get a new one!
Beautiful location, good food and service. Great place for afternoon tea.
The Butchart Gardens afternoon tea consistently ranks in the top 10 of Victoria's afternoon tea spots. Couple the terrific food, service, location, and value and this afternoon tea is one of my favorites.
Everything about our Afternoon Tea experience was perfect. The setting was beautiful and relaxing, the food/tea was very nice, and our waitress was superb. We could tell that she was a happy employee who thoroughly enjoyed making our experience wonderful. Would definitely recommend this to others.
This was a wonderful break when visiting the gardens. My best friend and I were on a cruise and really enjoyed afternoon tea and a beautiful setting during our visit to Victoria. Would go again when I am there. LOVED IT!
This is such a wonderful place for afternoon tea- everything that is iconic about the meal is served (trifle, scones, crustless sandwiches, sausage rolls). If it works out, eating outside overlooking the gardens makes it even more special!
Great experience. Beautiful setting!!
I was sad that one of my guests couldn't take part in the Afternoon Tea - she is allergic to egg whites and just about everything had egg in them (mayo) - it's a pity in this day and age that you can't offer a vegan assortment to those that would like it. Having said that my other guest enjoyed herself - just a suggestion maybe some sliced fruit to break up all that bread would be nice.
Perhaps we had anticipated this meal a little too much!
The food was poor, cold, over sauced, over priced and not as advertised.
We sent one back, one with raw chicken in the salad, and the hamburger came 25 minutes later fried to a crisp, and buried in sauce! The halibut pasta had almost no halibut!
Our waitress was outstanding, the manager was mildly “haughty” but manageable.
A bit shocking!
Service was very slow sitting outside. We waited 20 minutes to get a glass of wine! The food came about 25 minutes later. It was good but not excellent like the price and location would suggest.
A treat while touring the Gardens. Note, entry to Gardens is required.
Took my mom and grandmother there for a late mother’s day celebration. Drove down to Butchart to enjoy the gardens in the spring time and a little treat for afternoon tea. I had the vegetarian option and I was so delighted to see all the different items they had. Great service and a great atmosphere.
Three generations attended for afternoon tea. It was a very special experience. The restaurant is set in a beautiful old building with lovely garden views. The food was delicious and plentiful. Everyone from children to seniors enjoyed it.
Enjoyed Mother's Day Tea. The service and food were fantastic. Jason our server was knowledgeable and prompt. The special menu was great. I would highly recommend!
I cannot begin to explain how wonderful Butchart was for us. I've been visiting since I was a little girl and was excited to bring friends to tea there for the first time. Being a holiday weekend, I knew it would be quite busy. I have a friend with extensive food allergies. We were willing to do whatever was necessary, even grab a plate of food from the Blue Poppy, so long as she could sit with us while we did tea. The executive chef called me up and said he could do much better; he made a tea menu just for her. Hours after the event, she had no adverse reactions; not even an itch, despite the variety of allergies. She had her one three tiered tray, special desserts, the works. The chef even came out to meet us. The chocolate mousse was so good it made her tear up (chocolate is hard for her to get with soy and vanilla allergies). I am so grateful for the extra effort they went to despite the holiday. Thank you so much from all of us!
I took my mother for her birthday to the Dining Room for Afternoon High Tea. We loved every bit of the Tea, from the scones to finger sandwiches to the sweets. We were able to ask for a table on the terrace and the staff were very accommodating and helpful. Thank you for making our special occasion delightful!
spectacular ! best cowichan chicken salad ever. lovely server. room temperature water top up slow. good value. lovely setting. floral decorations divine.
Came here with my girlfriends for a relaxation weekend at the Butchart Gardens. What a wonderful experience at the gardens and a splendid afternoon tea 💕🌸🌷
A visit to The FAB Gardens
Ambiance and food were great
Food was less than mediocre; the view of the flowers was gorgeous
I visited Buchart Gardens for the first time last week and loved the tea in the afternoon sitting outside. The food, waiter, ambiance, and everything else known to man was great! I am from Savannah, GA and have been to many teas in the past.
A delightful delicious meal with ambience galore. Our second time there. A lovely friendly place overlooking spectacular flower gardens. Fabulous and fair priced.
one day stop at the gardens, stunning views and sat down to a variety of choices to eat, great food and fab services, very nice and delicate.
Always love having tea at The Dining Room at Butchart Gardens. We can always count on great tea selections wonderful service in a relaxed atmosphere.
We love the food, the service and the view of the garden was amazing! We Celebrated our early mothers day.
LIVE JUST MINUTES AWAY from the gardens but rarely dine in the in the restaurant. Decided to dine here for my friend's 70th birthday and it was marvellous. Since I have a yearly pass, I'll be using this as my top lunch spot for special occasions.
Wonderful - we dined outside on a beautiful day with a great view of the garden - don’t pass on the dessert
Love this place! The view is so beautiful and worth visiting. Food is so tasty and the price is reasonable! Overall, we all love it!
Lovely view overlooking the Italian garden and the cove at Tod Inlet. Very enjoyable experience.
As always, my BG dining room experience was a time apart and absolutely delightful. Staff were warm and gracious, lunch was delicious, and the atmosphere was like a restful oasis away from busy downtown Victoria.
We had a complementary afternoon tea and admission to the gardens to celebrate my 80th year. One of us was a diabetic and the server suggested substituting savoury items for the sweets, which was a perfect solution. The tea was excellent, the food delicious, the service perfect, and the view out of this world. Even at full price of $37.50 this is less than half the cost of afternoon tea at the Empress, so the price is right too.
