The Burger Cellar Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriend and I used to go to BC nearly every week. However, over the past year or so, we haven't been back. We decided it was time to return. We were both worried after reading recent reviews that the place was sliding downhill. Nevertheless, we booked for a Friday night. I'm happy to report that we were "not" disappointed by the meal or the service. Everything was basically the same... Same great BC burger; same great sweet potato fries; same milkshake; same great service. My only complaint was the noise. While the noise is probably the same as before, i've moved another year closer towards being a grumpy old man!
Service was OK we were there at an odd time 2:30. Sweet potato fries were amazing. My friend had the turkey burger and loved it. She said you would never guess it was turkey. My burger was good but the bun was very dry and crumbling apart. Great beer on tap. Decor was generic, nothing special.
Service was the best part of our experience. Knowledgeable and patient. The food was very good, 4 stars because the Grilled Cheese maybe could have been offered on a more robust bread... instead of a plain white bread. All items arrived as ordered and the sample of the pumpkin ale was most appreciated. Onion rings were amazing!
We made a reservation for Friday late at night and it wasn't busy at all. Our waiter was very nice and helpful. We ordered the Ultimate burgers, which were really tasty. We also ordered regular hand-cut fries, sweet potato fries, and pickle fries. Everything was really good, however it is pricey for what you get. A burger with a side of sweet potato fries is $20. It would be better if they added sides to the burgers for a better price, instead of getting everything separately. Very good overall though.
We've been to the Burger Cellar several times and it never disappoints. For the first time, a few in our group ordered something other than one of the burgers. The entree salads were large and filling. The steak frites was well prepared, though the fries got a touch soggy from sitting under the meat.
It's a little loud for conversation with a bigger group, but it's always an enjoyable time with good food.
We have been to the Burger Cellar several times and were looking forward to returning with friends on Saturday night. The meal this time was okay ..... but in our opinion, not great value. Toppings and sides are overpriced and not worth the cost. And the noise level was very high - understandable on a Saturday night - but made it hard for us to chat without shouting. Not a place one wants to "linger" - we chose to leave before ordering coffee/dessert. Our servers were very pleasant and attentive and our reservation was honoured so that was good. Would we rush back? Probably not.
