The Bull Ring
The Bull Ring has been a part of Santa Fe’s Culinary landscape for so long it's hard to think of a time when it wasn't there. The world famous Bull Ring offers all the most popular cuts, ranging in size from the the 8-oz petite filet to an enormous 40-oz porterhouse for two. The Bull Ring prepares steaks in an 1,800 degree grill and serves them on a sizzling hot plate with melted butter. The Bull Ring is also known for their juicy lamb or pork chops, mouthwatering barbecue baby back pork ribs or fresh seafood.
If you are looking for a more casual experience, the lounge is a local favorite, where you can mingle with old friends or make new ones in a Cheers-like atmosphere. The bar serves exceptional pub fare, including the succulent Prime Burger.
The food was great as always. However, the service could have been much better.
I ordered my steak medium, my husband ordered his rare. The chef couldn’t be bothered to cook them as requested and served them both rare. I sent it back with my side of creamed spinach on the plate....they stuck my returned plate under the broiler and turned my steak into shoe leather then returned my original plate as it was sent back with burnt spinach . My plate was returned so hot it was spitting hot butter, which they smother their steaks in, all over me.
Commonly my steak should have been replaced with a new one COOKED PROPERLY as originally requested. It’s was the chefs error not mine, side items replaced and presented to the customer on a fresh plate!!! The waiter could have cared less and did nothing to make our dinner memorable. It was my husbands birthday. With reservations they ask if it’s a special occasion I checked Birthday. They did nothing to make it special as other nice restaurants do....One would have thought they would have at least offered him a complimentary dessert.
We will NOT go back, Market Steer on Water Street is our now go to for a good steak dinner in Santa Fe & never will I recommend the Bull Ring!
The staff seemed to be inconvenienced by our large party. The mussels were excellent, the steaks were good. The creamed spinach needed more salt. But the bread pudding was TERRIBLE.
Service and food were very good. Server was attentive without being intrusive. If you like cognac, they are one of the few places in town that have Courvoisier XO.
Hardly any leftovers but I wanted to take the rib eye with me. Sadly I got distracted and forgot it!
Birthday and anniversary
I go to The Bull Ring everytime I'm in Santa Fe. It's a good enough reason to go by itself.
Best filet mignon in New Mexico, served perfectly in sizzling butter. The Bull Ring is our "go to" place for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions and the place we take out of town guests when they visit.
S and H
It is a classic steak house. But one of the better steak houses we’ve been to. Top tier prime meats and vegetables.
The service and ambience were very elegant...old school...but just what we were hoping for
The food was outstanding ! We had the thick cut lamb chops and prime rib with escargot for appetizer and au gratin spinach. Everything was prepared to a spectacular T.
I highly recommend this steakhouse- step away from the Baja and Spanish cuisine for a break and step Into an elegant, sophisticated delicious dining experience right down to the white table cloths, leather booths and dark mahogany paneled dining room.
We arrived early for reservation but seated with no issue. Wait staff was prompt. I ordered rib rye with asparagus, while partner ordered filet with baked potato. My order came rare as requested, while partner's was more rare than his requested medium rare. Meat was tasty, requiring no additional seasoning at table. Sides too large for one person, and probably should be shared. My only complaint, and loss of one star. is restaurant noise level was affected by boisterous drinkers in bar, which is close to diners - next time I opt for outdoor seating
This place never fails to provide an exceptional meal. Our appetizers, steaks, sides, and desserts were all equally perfectly prepared. The hostess, Lisa, was wonderful. Bull Ring is as good as any steak restaurant we have encountered.
The Bull Ring was an excellent experience. Delicious steaks. The service was outstanding. Lovely atmosphere. Nice to find a special place in Santa Fe. Large portions and good wines. Our friends got the Santa Fe chicken and it was moist and yummy. We all chose off the Fixed Price menu which was a great value. We will eat here again when we return to Santa Fe
Good filet - only problem was it took an hour to get to us. Would go again.
Great steak and sides! This was a return visit and it did not disappoint.
If you like steak.....this is the place. From prime rib to filet to ribeye they've mastered the secret to preparing it the way you like. You won't be disappointed.
Nice to find a fairly "old fashioned" steak house with real booths, great steaks, etc. Spoiled only by a screaming baby in an adjacent booth which begs the question why anyone who can afford to dine out can't afford a baby sitter. That said, we went twice in one week and (other than the screaming) enjoyed the meal and the ambience and would recommend it.
The best steak I've had in a very very long time. Superb cocktails too. Really, everything was perfect.
The Bullring is a Steakhouse with great food and great service. It has become my favorite Steakhouse. The owner makes a point to speak with his patrons.
Food well prepared and served. Steak kept warm throughout dinner. I did not like Onion Ring batter, too spicy .
I visit Santa Fe 1 - 2 times a year and we always go to the Bull Ring. The steaks are spot on and the crab legs are great
I’m never disappointed when I go to the Bull Ring.
Great experience. Food and service excellent. Filets were cooked perfectly. Will be back
Believe it or not, but The Bull Ring was recommended to me over 30 years ago and I finally made it this past Sunday evening while on vacation in Santa Fe. It was definitely worth the wait! We had reservations and were running a bit behind because the parking is terrible and we were struggling to find a spot. I called to tell the restaurant and the hostess immediately informed us that we were welcome to park in the parking garage and they would validate our parking. Whew, we whipped right in and snagged a spot. As soon as we made to restaurant the very kind hostess had us seated right away. Our server was right on point with meeting our every need and making spot on recommendations. Our food was perfect! So delicious and the drinks were worth the money as they don’t skimp on the alcohol and this is a big deal to us. Our steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered them and the baked potatoes were great and had plenty of toppings. We couldn’t end a meal like this without dessert...the server recommended the chocolate mousse and pecan pie. Both were fabulous and yes, we ate every bit of it!! 30 years is a long time to wait, but it won’t happen again, as soon as we are back in Santa Fe, we’ll be eating at The Bull Ring!!! Thank you for an amazing dining experience!
Excellent service and food. A quality experience and comparable to steak houses we visit in Dallas.
The steak itself was good, but that's about it. For a place that brags about being a prime steakhouse, the wine selection is horrible and overpriced. The wine list doesn't even list the vintage year. The escargot was bland. The rest of the meal unremarkable. The service staff is young and well meaning, but inexperienced and inattentive. Had to ask for some things twice because the wait staff forgot to bring them after the first request. The bill was $400 for three of us. The manager refused to honor a fully pre-paid gift certificate from a relative because it had "expired". Santa Fe has a lot of fine dining establishments. This is not one of them. I have been to the Bull Ring many times over the years and thought I'd give it another chance. I will not make the same mistake again.
- the steak, very very good.
- the mash potatoes, pale. Nothing special.
- the roasted tomatoes, delicious.
- the broccoli, nothing special too.
- very good wine list.
Passive aggressive statements on the menu about extra charges for shared dishes and no split checks were something I’ve never seen anywhere else in the world. Service was not particularly friendly and definitely not attentive, no info provided on specials etc. Menu is expensive and you have to add sides - quality of the food was (at best) average (over salted, under flavoured). We sat outside, tables are small and ambience is totally lacking. There are much better restaurants in Santa Fe at and below this price point.
I thought charging for the sides on top of the already higher prices was a bit much.
The 40 oz porterhouse for 2 was great. Just what I was looking for in a steak. It was cooked perfectly.
Unfortunately, not the excellent steaks and service I’ve come to expect. The rib eye was cooked perfect but wasn’t flavorful, creamed spinach was bland and the service was that of Applebee’s. :( We pushed our salad and appetizer plates to the end of table and no one got the hint to take until our entre came out. We were celebrating our anniversary and put this on the Open Table, told our server and there was no mention at all. It’s the little details of the server to make the table feel like “guests” rather than another number. We were only one of 6 tables, so the neglect wasn’t due them being g too busy.
We were deeply disappointed and won’t be back. There are too many wonderful restaurants in Santa Fe who want the dinner business. I hope The Bull Ring takes notice and works on improvements to continue serving happy customers & continue their legacy (35+ years).
The salad was very good. The crab legs were ok, but not great. They were rubbery. I had the ribeye. It was cook d as ordered. It was good but not great. Because of our comments on the crab legs the gave us a free dessert. Overall a nice but not excellent visit. I would go back.
This has to be one of the best steak houses in the country. The steaks are tender, delicious and cooked just right. Service is very attentive. We have eaten at the Bull Ring for years and have always been most impressed.
Food great. My wife and I both ordered steaks, which were undercooked. Server never came back to ask us about our steaks, and we had a hard time getting someone's attention. Finally got attention of a manager, and steaks redone correctly.
Everything was exceptional and the food was WOW! Service was great as well!
Not good... although it was Indian Market weekend we had reservations and got right in. Service reported the kitchen was backed up and hoped we weren’t in any hurry said she’d come back to take our order in awhile. She wasn’t very kind about it either we could clearly tell she was irritated. Finally got our order in and the food came out 30 minutes later. Forgot my mayo and finally received it when I was finished with my meal. I would not go there again. I can understand the kitchen being busy but that is when service needs to step up and make it the best possible experience in spite of the delays.
Great food and atmosphere! Service was outstanding.
Great classic steak house. Comfy big booths and good food!
Good French dip, onion rings and chicken posole soup.
Excellent Silver Margarita!
A welcome diversion from balance of Santa Fe New Mexican cuisine.
Best food I have had in Santa Fe that was not Chili based
