We dine regularly at this restaurant where we are always welcomed warmly & well taken care of.
I’ve never had such tasty butter chicken
The Bukhara is a wonderful Indian restaurant in Rockville, MD. We enjoyed going there for a buffet lunch yesterday. The food i very flavorful and not too spicy.
Good lunch buffet I would return. Fresh items and great sauces for the rice, etc. loved the tandoori chicken and butter chicken.
This is a good Indian restaurant with a range of spice options. We were an 8 member group with advance reservations using OpenTable. They had the table ready for us when we arrived, but seated us on two joined 4 seat tables. This left the people at the end of the tables (facing in toward the others) with their knees knocking with others. It was a tight squeeze. The server came up to us promptly and asked for the order -- I had to beg more time than 30 seconds of just getting in to be able to place an order -- the ask for drinks came later. Water was promptly served, though. After appetizers were served we got a sum total 4 papads (!!!) for 8 people. I had a joke with the manager and chide him for the apparent shortage in the number of papads offered.
The food was ordered and the manager who took our order, now, offered good suggestions. The spice levels as they were requested. The kids got their mild, and those with medium got that. We did not venture into the "hot" and "Indian hot" categories -- though, having eaten the medium, I would.
The food was good (average to above average) but with refreshing flavors. The servers did not bother to serve the food and we were left with 6 containers of ordered items 2 rice containers, and a 2 bread baskets on the table. A little crowded on the table ... but it emptied quickly.
The quantity is good for a sumptuous meal for 2 (per order). Rice is included, bread is extra.
All in all, I would give our visit a solid 3.5 / 5.0 -- the food is above average. The owners are genuinely interested in giving you a good time and the food is to match. The restaurant is busy and seemed to be filled with regulars. Noise levels is of people chatting and having a good time at a familiar place. Not too loud, but not quiet either. Walk in with shorts and tee and you are as much in place as with someone dressed up.
My only gripe is that though the service is good overall, the servers could be trained to watch for the little things.
The staff are very kind and offer great recommendations if you aren't sure what you want. They will make the food just how like it in terms of spice and even try to accommodate other needs. Their naan is unbelievable its buttery and light.
This is a restaurant which aims to please. There were some changes to the lunch buffet which, when the manager came over to our table to inquire about our dining experience, I didn't like. One was an okra dish. I also told him that everything was too spicy for me. He then asked me what vegetables I like. I told him that I like one of the combinations on the buffet but that what was on the buffet was too spicy. He then told me he'd have the kitchen make me a less spicy version. Also, most Indian recipes charge extra for naan. Here a basket of naan is brought to the table. This restaurant's employees always bend over backward to make diners feel welcomed & important. That is why I go back time & time again in spite of the too spicy food.
Needs to improvement in food quality. First time went for lunch took my family it was horrible food never ever will go again.
Awesome food and great service. The chef brought out meals to the table. Definitely, will return.
Our family came over to visit and we love Indian cuisine! We head over to the restaurant not knowing much about this one in particular! The welcoming was well receive by us! We had reservations, but we called them to let them know about our delay! We sat down, and we received our menu, they offered us the drinks! We ordered the lamb, lentil soup, and an appetizer! All delicious! This is a small restaurant that provides good food and services!
Bukhara was very nice. This was our second visit. Service was very attentive and smiling. The food was good as well. We had plenty of authentic Indian food to eat and there are plenty of choices. Wines are reasonably priced as well.
Enjoyed our dinner at Bukhara. The vegetarian dishes were delicious. The garlic Naan was a treat. Everything was served nicely. Only negative - a TV that was on a news channel. We asked the management to turn the TV off. They complied. Not sure why this good restaurant needs to have a TV on. It takes away from the dining experience.
There are few restaurants with which I am familiar that bend over backwards on a regular basis to please the customer. There is always a manager to oversee the service that each guest receives to assure satisfaction. Also, portions are generous. My only problem with the food is too spicy for my timid palate. They always ask if you want the food spicy, medium or mild. Their mild is still too spicy for me though I can still eat it.
I have been trying out dozens of local Indian restaurants in my area and I found that their ability to adjust spice to your liking in their dishes is very comforting I was able to moderate and this election what temperature I want the food to be and I'll came out perfect. I would certainly plan to go back and enjoy more things that I found on the menu has I only had a chance to try for things while I was there. I didn't need a takeout bag at the end because I just simply wanted to finish everything.mill
Been coming here for a while and always have a good meal. Staff is also very friendly...always suggesting new dishes to try.
Excellent Valentine's Day dinner! 1st time visiting and appreciated the helpful menu suggestions by our server. Although, the kitchen was extremely busy due to the special occasion, the food quality was superb. We will be back.
We went to Bukhara for Valentine's Day, and were pleasantly surprised! We had asked for a quiet booth, and they gave us a corner booth with rose petals and chocolate kisses on the table. Also, the food was absolutely delicious. We highly recommend it!
Good food; very quiet at dinner
As always the best service in India and great quality tandoori food.
Great food and service
Nice decor, friendly staff and good food! We were pleasantly surprised.
Enjoyed the flavorful food. Appitizers were great
We are regulars at Bukhara. Always great, attentive service and very good Indian food. One added benefit is that they will adjust the level of spice in a dish.
Love this place. Easy parking. Good food. Friendly service.
We found this place by accident since we were looking for an alternative to our regular haunts. It's a great restaurant with very good food. The staff are very attentive, the ambience is pleasant and its just a good night out. I recommend it.
Good food, prompt service
Very accommodating staff. Gracious service. Food was slow to arrive but fresh and delicious
Although I find the food too spicy for my palette I keep on going back using lots of water & complimentary naan (at least for the buffet) to calm the fire. The management bends over backwards to assure that diners have what they need. The fact that it is a short drive from home & a participant in Open Table helps.
There are too many Indian/Pakistani 'hole in the wall' restaurants in the DC area; it was nice to finally find a restaurant with really good food, service and nice ambiance. We were a party of eight, everyone enjoyed themselves. We all shared several meat/kabob and veggies dishes, all were delicious. We also shared a spinach chaat appetizer which is a must get! Can't wait to go back.
Service here is always attentive at this neighborhood Indian restaurant, and the food is good but spicy. They have a reasonably priced lunch buffet which is definitely worth a visit. Though fairly busy, conversation is easy.
Good food, could make anything spicy for us. Friendly staff. Could carry on good conversation as noise level was quiet.
The food is delicious and the servers are friendly and helpful. Definitely check it out!
The restaurant is absolutely authentic and a real fit for foodies.
Average Indian buffet. Could use some variety. As is, limited buffet choices.
we love Indian food and usualyl order the same things [to start]: mango lassi and samosas--superior. And their Chicken Makhani [butter chicken] is superior.
A perfect ambiance for business lunch/dinner with excellent food quality and service. It could also be a perfect place for gathering on a special occasion. A convenient locality to visit. I would look for opportunity to visit once again may be on a special occasion with family or friends.
Food was very good, we were four friends, each found his favorite dish easily.
The taste really reminded us the flavors from India, while the seating and service were way better :)
3 waiters took turns asking if everything was okay within 5 minutes
We gave this place a try at our friends' suggestion. The food came in overpriced, small portions, and it was honestly mediocre. Their desserts were great, but again, overpriced, tiny portions. For $5, we would get 2 balls of Gulab Jamun and Rasmalai, whereas in other local Indian restaurants, you would get 3 for less than $5. Wines were also overpriced--mediocre reds for $11/12 in Gaithersburg. Too many other good Indian options in the area for us to ever go back. What a shame, as they are within a 5 minute drive of our home!
