The Bruce Hotel and Restaurant
Executive Chef Arron Carley describes the vision for the new menus: “Looking into our past and understanding our roots as well as looking forward into the undiscovered wilderness of our nation we will forge New Canadian Cuisine.“
I took my friend to the Lounge for dinner for her birthday. Our food was great, the service is always outstanding. I have recommended the Hotel & the Lounge/patio to many friends.
This is a first class establishment with great food and great service.
Service was exceptional. Great menu and food. Attention to detail was very good.
The Bruce's Mothers' Day Brunch is superb: wonderful dining room, spacious, elegant and bright. Tables well-spaced. Service is at a very high level, and the menu is beautifully prepared, executed and presented.
We went for Brunch. The hostess/servers were friendly, courteous and helpful. The eggs benedict were delicious. Would go to brunch again ....so good.
As always excellent food beautifully prepared. My wife and I had the pate followed by pickerel while our granddaughter had mushroom soup followed by pasta. Service was also exceptional.
Took my husband there for his birthday They gave him a plate at end with happy birthday and a few candies and cookies Nice touch
Bread delicious Limited menu
Not as romantic an environment as I had thought it would be but very good service Hotel attached may consider next time
Beautiful restaurant with ample space and easy atmosphere.
As we were coming for brunch and there was no brunch menu on the website, we reviewed the items and corresponding prices. When seated and given the Brunch Menu the prices were more than double of what we expected. Having an elderly family member with us, we did not feel able to leave.
The service was slow, 40 mins before any food was received.
The food itself was good, but certainly not in alignment with the cost.
This was a gourmet food lover’s delight. We felt thoroughly pampered by the service with their attention to detail and willingness to bow to all tastes and preferences. We went on a busy afternoon and were bathed in a calm oasis where conversation was easily maintained. The ambiance was cultured while also embracing the informal. The heirloom chicken eggs on display were a lovely Easter touch. Our plates were exquisitely decorated yet simple in style. Comfort food abounding. The price was well worth the memorable experience.
Easter & burthday
Spectacular dining experience. The tasting menu alone is well worth the trip to Stratford.
An intimate restaurant. A perfect place to take a European colleague for some fantastic Canadiana.
Had a wonderful dinner with friends. Very accommodating and welcoming. Had veg burger and beet apple salad and was delish.
As a local, we truly appreciate such a lovely place to go in Stratford, ON; whether for a drink, dinner or breakfast. Service was lovely - thank you Jamie. We had a baby with us and were accommodated nicely. Food was excellent, coffee was abundant and hit the spot. This was a very relaxing spot to meet and visit with family.
Beautiful restaurant and we were fortunate enough to have it coincidentally empty for us on a Monday night! Highly recommended
We went to a similar themed dinner (East Coast) at The Bruce which was excellent but this one did not measure up. The courses of gumbo and chicken with cream corn were delicious.
The main course ribs and brisket were tender but needed a sauce or seasoning, the bacon beans were bland and the coconut banana cream pie was 95% unsweetened whipped cream and 5% filling.
At the previous experience each course was explained with what inspired each dish. This meal had a menu with no other information.
Overall the meal was disappointing but the service and ambiance still made for an enjoyable evening with friends.
Had asked for a special birthday dessert. Acknowledged when booked and when at table. Was disappointed when nothing arrived. Wine pairing also advertised but did not have available.
The staff were lovely, and the dining room beautiful, but I was very surprised by how poor the meal was. For the prix fix Valentine’s dinner we tried 6 different courses and the bread was the best part. To qualify, the Baked Yukon desert tasted exactly like Hubba Bubba. I appreciated the effort to make various condiments in-house, but it doesn’t matter if you don’t want to eat the food. One last note; it was frustrating to be asked to change our entree choise, as the chef didn’t want to make Beef Wellington for one person alone. When the meal is that expensive, it takes away from the experience to face those kinds of conflicts.
Our third occasion - we love the space, charm and variety of menu. A nice selection of wines.
Service has always been friendly, informative and professional. We prefer the dining room as opposed to the lounge - tables are well spaced not only for comfort but, privacy. The soup this Saturday (mushroom) was terrific. Would like you to, occasionally, share a receipe - perhaps in the Beacon! We will be back. We lunch once per month from diners to 'The Bruce'. That day becomes very special.
I attended with a client for lunch. He wanted someplace quiet. Lovely space and ambiance. Food excellent. Server skilled and attentive, and very helpful with food and wine choices. A thoroughly pleasant experience. Wish my budget allowed me to go more often.
Local night is amazing. They don't advertise. Don't know why?
Everything was absolutely perfect. We felt like royalty. The food was second to none. What an amazing experience!
Such a romantic atmosphere. Overall I would give the Bruce Hotel and it’s restaurants a 10/10!
4 of us dined at the lounge. The staff and service was exceptional. Couldn't have asked for more. But we were very dissappointed with the meal. We ordered the Ceasar salad and none of us liked it. With our eyes closed we would not have known what we ate. 2 of us ordered steak frites - medium rare - and the steak was way overcooked. My hsuband and daughter-in-law were happy with their meals. I always thought a standard glass of wine is 6oz, but what we were served was not even maybe 4oz and at a prize of $12.00 per glass, we thought that was a little stingy.
We had a great brunch. The food was excellent and very filling.
Had heard great things but was a bit disappointed with the food especially considering the price.
Birthday dinner. Ordered the chefs tasting menu, and it was outstanding. The wine pairings were very good as well. Great meal! Thank you.
Food is amazing. Service is excellent. Love the Bruce
If you really want to be good to yourself, call a friend and lunch at The Bruce.
They make you feel so special , a delightful experience.
A very respectful atmosphere for patrons who wish to leasurly enjoy a good meal wine aand conversation which is not intrusive. Staff are top notch and do not rush you out. Music is subtal and appropiate. Food is very Canadian....excellent.
Greeted right at the door. Lots of people looking after you e.g. drinks , water, bread, cutlery, etc. Food was great except we orders the steak with a capuchino-less dip which was not available. Ambiance is great. All in all, a great night out!
The restaurant provides interesting & very tasty menu with great service. Always a very pleasant experience
We went there on Christmas Day and were all very impressed with the ambiance, the food and the service!
Christmas Eve at The Bruce was like opening a series of gifts. Every course a gem that stood on its' own, added together salad, main and dessert made for a memorable experience. My two companions had a similar experience with their choices. Staff were an awesome blend of friendly and professional. The ambience just what we wanted - that mix of beauty, elegance and cozy that's hard to create. Plus being decorated for the season all that more special. We'll be back - soon.
Great service and food, staff were friendly, professional all with a great ambience.
Two couples went for Local's night. The sevice w impeccable, the presentation was beautiful and most importantly the food was outstanding. The duck confit was very tender and perfectly seasoned. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
A gem in the city. Very historic looking decor and comfortable. High Class with a menu from medium priced to fine dining prices. Staff very attentive and polite. Engaging. Fantastic food. Atmosphere stylish . Lots of parking. Will go again.
Lovely lunch with special friends...made more wonderful with attentive service, fresh linens and good food that suits a variety of pallets.
Very enjoyable lunch. We were impressed with the lunch choices and loved the skinny fries. Server was friendly and kept checking on us. A great experience.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Great Service. Good food.
