We had a very good brunch. The staff was quite pleasant, but the service was, on this particular day, a bit disorganized. It's a very pleasant place.
Finest Hotel in Stratford
Reastaurants are spectacular and beautiful. Menus unique in their fresh preparations
Not to be missed
Great spot for lunch or dinner - amazing ambiance and food. Highly recommend
I love this place! It has outstanding service and delicious food with a beautiful settin. The staff is wonderful!
ate breakfast there, excellent experience all around from very helpful staff, good food, gorgeous ambiance! Highly recommend
Staff were particularly friendly and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was gracious and understated. We were told that the chef chose to work only with locally sourced ingredients, some of which were unusual (reindeer moss, spruce, birch sap?) and we approached our meals with anticipation. The surprise was how uniformly bland the chef had managed to make each item that arrived, from appetizer to dessert. The restaurant seriously missed the bar they set for themselves.
Staff were very friendly and superior customer service. Beautiful clean upscale hotel. Would definitely recommend!
We've eaten at The Bruce in past years on our visits to Stratford, and have always liked it -- but this year, we all agreed that the chef outdid himself. We had the tasting menu and were very happy that we'd chosen it -- every dish was just perfection, and none of them were on the regular menu, so we got to try a lot of original and interesting dishes. Our favorite was the corn soup with kernels of fresh corn -- I can't even explain why this was so delicious, but it was incredibly velvety and well balanced.
The wine pairings were very good (though I thought the pours were very skimpy for the $65 price tag, about an ounce each and no refills if you drank the wine before the food came). The "mocktail" pairing was the most creative and interesting I've ever had, and the "drinksmaster" who came out to explain his creations was so enthusiastic about every selection that we really got into it.
My only complaint (other than the skimpy wine pours) was that the pacing of the meal was a little off. Normally we would only try the tasting menu on a non-theater night, but this year that didn't work for our schedule, so we made a super-early reservation in order to fit it in. While they did serve us, the server wasn't really watching the clock, and there were a number of delays that meant we were scrambling to gobble down dessert in time to race off to the play. The solution to this, of course, is to NOT go to The Bruce pre-theater -- go after a matinee, and enjoy! We always choose our dinner options for our annual week in Stratford with great care, and I can say unequivocally that The Bruce was hands-down everyone's favorite meal this year.
What a hidden treasure. Delicious wine pairing with perch Blueberry grunt lavender whip cream amazing aviary in the garden. Hope to be back
My husband and I were extremely happy and amazed with our dinner. The bottle of wine we ordered needed to be chilled so the hotel took initiative and offered us a complementary cocktail as we waited. The meal was outstanding; so favourful and got better with every bite.
We also ate at the hotel for breakfast and it was just as good as the dinner. Will definitely be back!
Beautiful venue. Stunning decor. Good food. Outstanding service. Classical music just loud enough.
When in Stratford, Ontario Canada, this is the place to go for a very special meal and ambiance. We love to culminate our week of theatre by going to dinner at The Bruce. Sometimes we eat there twice in a week. It is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny.
Excellent location, service and food. First time here and we will be back
A beautiful hotel property and setting - gardens and bee hives provide both charm and flora for the diners. Wait Staff charming and knowledgable. Walk out the back and through the grounds to the Stratford Festival Theater. Leave your vehicle in the lot. Couldn't not be more convenient if you're theater-bound. Definitely will plan a return visit next season.
A friend from the States was visiting Stratford. I had been to The Bruce several times before and enjoyed it. My friend will be returning for a meal and the bar again before she goes back home.
Lovely lunch on the patio with Romeo on the balcony above! Quiet ambience was perfect for a relaxed conversation over food and wine. We will be back for theatre dining and for family dining.
Service and quality of food was wonderful.
We asked for a tour of the place after and one was set up right away and it was very enjoyable.
I would go back with out hesitation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience, service staff were friendly and very professional!
Our server was excellent and attentive. The food was great and I recommend the eggs Benedict.
Overpriced and not particularly tasty. Portions excessively tiny. Beautiful ambiance and great service. We went for the restaurant but were disappointed. We will not return.
Enjoyable, quiet, superb food, great service, BUT you need to take out a loan to eat there!
Our server Amy was fantastic!!! We were a group of 7 plus a baby and we were in for breakfast, we had several dietary restrictions and some can be reminiscent of “When Harry met Sally” and Any our server and the kitchen staff handled it like Pro’s!!! The food was delicious!!!!
We were looking forward to dinner as we had heard good things. Also going out on Sunday night in Stratford is tough as many places are closed. But we were disappointed. A nice enough set up but bland. The cheese tray we had as an appetizer was very good and the service pleasant (though the server was full of himself) but the dinner itself was a real let down. Competent but nothing special and in some cases didn't meet the description of the menu (pickerel was deep fried not pan fried, overwhelming the mild texture and flavour of the fish) or professional standards (the dough for the blueberry grunt was overworked). So, maybe it was an off night but we won't return.
Very enjoyable, lovely atmosphere, extremely friendly and accommodating , highly recommended, after the theatre experience.
Best quiche I’ve ever had. Lovely service. Great proximity to the theatre. A new tradition
Experience over all was excellent!
Once again The Bruce didn’t disappoint. Despite sitting in the Dining Room we were able to chose from the Lounge menu. The staff are ever attentive and the standard of food is consistent.
This hotel and its restaurants are amazing. We are in the dining room with a fixed price menu and it was fabulous! The fois gras was delicious. I had the halibut and it was perfect and very flavorful. The dessert was wonderful and I loved it. The staff are the best and very attentive as well as helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend.
They were wonderful - went the extra mile at every turn. Food was phenomenal.
Attentive staff, beautiful setting and good food.
Very knowledgeable regarding the wine, help my wife and I to find a gem. Nice and close to the festival theatre, which was very convenient as we walked through the park to the play after our meal
Thanks for a delightful evening.
Delicious, all-canadian food, including the root beer! The service was impeccable.
Staff very professional.
Very enjoyable dining experience.
One of th best restaurants in Ontario! Chef Aaron’s food is always creative and superb!
Innovative menu. Beautiful setting. Exquisite service.
Any meal at the Bruce is always a memorable experience!! I had my birthday lunch there this time and I am always thrilled by the excellent level of service that myself and my guests receive at this establishment. This time the tea sommelier remembered our tea selection last time and brought out our favourite tea to finish off the meal, and it was complimentary. I was absolutely gobsmacked! If you're looking for world class service and exceptional food, please consider the Bruce!
Our dining experience at The Bruce was a truly magical meal. The use of locally sourced products, combined in creative tastes on beautifully arranged plates, was a completely unique experience. The service was great, with knowledgeable servers and sommelier and we were done with plenty of time to get to the theatre.
We had the chefs table with wine pairings, what a culinary adventure we got to enjoy. Service was top notch.
First time dining here and will definitely return.
This is a beautiful dining room. The menu is quite extensive without including tired and trait items found on too many menus these days. The service is most friendly and very attentive. The food is superb and the presentation on the plate is spectacular. All courses, appetizers, main and dessert were delicious. Not a drop was left on any of our plates. This is, by far, Stratford's best dining experience and I would rate it as one of the best in Canada.
