We’re big on warmth, low on fussiness: stripped wood floors, high bar stools, painted brickwork and comfy leather banquettes. Sup your pint beside our polished-oak bar or tuck yourself away in the Snug behind the frosted glass partition. You can hear yourself talk, concentrate on the crossword or nod off quietly in the corner.

To help keep everyone safe, our teams will continue to wear face masks and we'd love you to do the same when nentering and moving around the pub and dining room.

Great Sunday Lunch and I have tried many of the "known places". What stood out for me, simple things that show they know what they are doing. The quality of the Yorkshire Pudding (light not stodgy), the actual temperature of the food (hot, not lukewarm) and the speed of the service (just right).

The food was delicious however our experience was spoiled somewhat by the unbearable heat. It was the best T bone we’d ever had and the fish and chips delicious but the air con wasn’t working but given the temperatures that we knew we’re expecting all week there should’ve been some fans put out to keep the temperature comfortable.

Excellent and attentive service. The food was great - oysters were superbly prepared as was my wife’s mackerel. Standout for me was the Venison mince and tatties - loved it. Sorry no room for puddings!

Good food: asparagus for starters and then ribeye steak. My wife found the food rather salty. We would have appreciated some bread with the starter, as the asparagus was cooked in hazelnut butter which we had to leave sitting on the plate. No complaints about the service or the ambiance. Both very good. Thought that the meal was overpriced by about 10-20%. On balance, we won't go back because it's not good enough value for money.

This was the first time we have ate at The Broad Chair. Rib Eye steak was first class, Plaice on the bone was lovely. Their own beer" Writers Block"was very nice along with the Rose Wine. Service and ambience excellent. Very busy considering a Wednesday night. Lovely beer garden on a sunny evening. Only criticism maybe when offered water for the table , maybe offering the choice of tap water may be good rather than chargeable spring water. which table next to us obviously asked for.
