I had the cucumber heirl salad and lamb shank. It was very good, seasoned very nicely and the lamb was tender.

Interesting concept. However, the food was extremely salty.
I liked this place and would go back.Clean, modern, friendly. Good service. Didn't try the African turnovers -- forget what they called them -- but did try the "discada fries." Very good. Lots of interesting cocktails, although my date tasted one and sent it back, but I don't think that was the drink's fault.
We decided to meet friends here based on the rave reviews from another friend. We were not disappointed! The briks, the lamb, the Brussels sprouts and the bread pudding were all amazing!
We had dinner at The Briks the weekend before Valentine's Day. The restaurant was very roomy, with outdoor patio seating as well. We enjoyed the carnation and candle decorations on the tables- not sure if that was just for Valentine's Day, but it created a nice ambience. The customer service was excellent too. However, the food was certainly overpriced for the portions and just didn't blow us away. We tried the Tony Montana and Bougie briks. Both were just fine, but rather small and the flavor combination was a little odd. The menu looks very innovative and interesting, but it didn't work out for us when actually trying the food. Maybe we'll try again sometime in the future!
the evening at the briks was great, the server was very good at explaining the menu to my wife and I, we had the best hummus around with the pita bread and the lamb was fantastic, the entrée was enough for the two of us to enjoy, I recommend the lamb highly, tender and flavorful, an all around good night out.

The ramb menu was not good to me. But all the other menus were good. I like service too.
Just really bad on so many levels. Cheap ingredients, horrible ambience and flavorless food. It was really a cut above dormitory food

We ate at the Brix after a Kings game and before watching Lewis Black perform. I had the North African Roasted Chicken and couscous, which was some of the best chicken that I've had. The skin with crispy and had amazing flavor. I also very much enjoyed my cocktail, "The Side Chick", which came with an enthusiastic endorsement from our server.
I am sure The Briks would have been awesome, but Open Table reservation made a boo boo.
Open Table let us make a reservation for 2:45PM, but the kitchen closed at 3PM, so we never got to order anything. Bad move on Open Table's part with no fault to The Briks

The decor in this restaurant is the only reason it isn't good for dinner. The food is excellent, the cocktails and beer are great, but it's decorated and lit like a fast food lunch stop. Too bright, rectangular tables piled in like a sandwich shop, "booth" seat is plastic. I hope they redecorate, the food was fantastic and creative.
I reserved a table at The Briks for a business meal. We were seated immediately and were given the best service. My ice tea was never empty. The food was delicious and prepared exactly as ordered. We ordered the California Burrito, Hanger Steak and Shrimp Tacos. The serving portions were a good size and everything arrived quickly. The location was within perfect walking distance from the LA Convention Center. I would definitely recommend The Briks to a friend and I'll be returning soon.
Great dinner menu, African and Spanish fusion cuisine, different from the norm, very tasty, would go again. Drinks were weak though.
Food was absolutely delicious and the waitstaff was so happy!! Anytime I'm through downtown, you can be sure I'll be eating here!!!

The food and service was impeccable! We started with the Guru, tasty, flavourful and enough for 2 people to have as an appetizer. As an entrée shared The Shank and the Fennel Sumac salad with a side of Brussel sprouts minus the bacon. It was more than enough for 2 people to share. The lamb was succulent, moist and tender, lightly charred on the outside....absolutely delicious washed down with a lovely Red, properly ended with the Cajeta brulee which was perfect. At the end were greeted personally by Chef Mario and gave him accolades for a superb dinner for my husband's bday.
This dining experience was phenomenal from start to finish. Unique and delicious cocktails, starters, and main courses. I went on a weekday around 6 and it wasn't too busy and had great service from our waiter. Would go here again if I'm in the area!

The Briks is a great place. Located in the mostly new South Park district of DTLA, it's a bright, light-filled, open floor plan eatery with sidewalk dining as well. It offers creative and delicious North African cuisine, mostly via small plates, but mixed with other influences, including Latin flavors. We had tender and tasty Braised Lamb Shanks, perfectly-prepared Cast Iron Skillet Vegetables, and an amazing Chorizo con Papas Flatbread (like a rectangular pizza). Very friendly and attentive service also make for a completely satisfying experience.
Creative menu that was well executed. Typically with such a diverse offering, the chef can fail, but not here! Attentive service and nice outdoor dining.
Ask for menu reco, it was mist helpful. We loved our The Briks/ Tony Montana, Warm White Bean & Kale, and North African Roasted Half Chicken with Spanish style couscous. So delicious!!!

My second visit to The Briks and still enjoyed the food! It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night - kindda weird since the food here is awesome! Will def go back again.
I expected a different experience. Friendly-enough service but not particularly engaging. Thin menu consisting primarily of sandwiches. Fairly noisy at lunch with TV's and loudish music. Tried the lamb dip and was neither excited nor disappointed. Better for a casual happy hour than for a business lunch.
The day I finally made it to lunch at The Briks was the first day of a new lunch menu, according to our server. Unfortunately, the new lunch menu does not feature any briks. I was looking forward to trying a brik and/or other North African inspired dishes, so found the new lunch menu to be disappointing. I settled for an open faced tuna sandwich that was fine but not special. Pleasant atmosphere and excellent service.
North African chicken was delish & full of flavor! I also enjoyed the special kale salad with honey dijon dressing which was not on the menu.

We came here on 8/26/16. This was our first visit. For this experience, our main server was Darrell.
We started with the Cajeta Brulee (I always start dessert first.) I must admit, the cajeta is hardly noticeable, but overall it is a delicious Brulee, one of the best I've had. Sweet, but not overwhelming, creamy, and the sugar topping was caramelized to perfection.
Second, we ordered two Briks, my partner ordered the Tony Montana & I ordered The Bougie. We sampled each other’s Briks. He liked the fusion of flavors, per his personal opinion; the poached egg married everything together. I, personally LOVED the Bougie. The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Although the poached egg was good, personally, I could do without the egg. In my opinion, the dressing on the side salad was too overwhelming. In the end, we preferred our respective item.
Lastly, we ordered two entrees, my partner ordered “The Shank” and I ordered the Chermoulazino (European Sea Bass.) Again, we sampled each other’s entrees. My partner stated that he liked the Chermoulazino a lot more, for the complexity of flavors. For me, the Chermoulazino was overwhelming and not all the ingredients fuse together. I favored the Shank more, the meat was tender and the overall dish was flavorful; however, it was a bit too gamey. I’ve had plenty of lamb dishes, but this by far was the one that tasted the most gamey.
The food is good and the service is excellent. Why excellent? Because the staff are very attentive and friendly, there is always more than one server checking in on patrons, refreshing drinks, taking orders, and clearing tables.
To be honest, we did order way too much food, which made it a bit more difficult to fully enjoy everything completely. I recommend to try this place, at least once, but pace yourself and do expect to pay significantly for the experience.
In summary, we would return & do recommend it.
