The Breslin Bar and Dining Room
Incredible food, but the policies of the restaurant (wouldn’t seat me until my guest arrived despite having a reservation, wouldn’t take anything less than full orders so we had to order appetizers and entrees as soon as we arrived), weren’t inclined towards a pleasant dining experience.
We were seated right away. The staff is very friendly. The food was delicious but not a huge menu and no specials. The drinks were ok not great. My only complaint is that the temperature was about 150 inside ridiculously hot and it was cold outside
You can't go wrong with the lamb burger, which I believe is their signature dish. Great cocktail selection and looking to check out their brunch menu one of these days.
i felt so enamored to bring a business associate to such a great restaurant
Awesome lamb burger as always. Huge tasty Caesar salad - one would have been enough for two people.
It's great. The lamb burger is surely overpriced, but it's delicious.
Warm, intimate space with good food & reliable service.
The Breslin has amazing food, feels very comfortable and has a super friendly, competent staff from top to bottom.
Service was poor, pushy server. My date and I weren’t drinking so that set the tone and the waitress was a drone, she ended up getting our order wrong, and our table was attended by at least 3 obtrusive bussers, waitress nowhere to be seen. When the food came it was excellent. So, good food, poor service.
Meh. I got the roast beef sandwich, which was tasty, but was dipped in au jus, making it about the messiest dish possible. Like sticky af. Didn't offer any wet towelettes to clean up, so I had to walk back through the lobby and down stairs to he closest bathroom to wash my hands. Seems obviously avoidable. Super over priced too.
The tables are very close to one another and the woman sitting next to ours inserted herself into our conversation in an unwelcome way. Besides that, the food, the waiter and the drinks were great.
Forgot about our oatmeal, managed to sort something for us to suit a vegan all in all just ok!
Had the most delicious breakfast - poached eggs w lentils, greens, seasonal squash. Staff was lovely, warm & welcoming. Did not rush us, spent 2 hours catching up w an old friend. Service was exceptional & coffee was great. Will def go back.
Loved the vibe and energy. Good service.
Pancake was undercooked but they remedied and replaced it, and comped it to make up for their mistake.
They cooked my well-done skirt steak properly. Other places usually can’t execute well-done orders right.
The busboy was overly eager to clean up table, repeatedly came back to clean up dishes we were still working on. He may need to hold back a little, and may need a little more training to “read” if table is ready to be cleaned up.
went for new years eve . wait staff was nice, but took a while for us to order. food was all great. gave us glass of bubbly for midnight, wasn't very good (but it was free). always like the ambience. but the food was better than i remembered all very solid.
New Year’s Eve
We went for breakfast, our meals were very good. My open oven cooked cheese sandwich was good, but a little well done. The old time setting is great and the service was excellent.
Great atmosphere, amazing food and great service.
As usual, a great place to have drinks and brunch or dinner. Food is fantastic. Do NOT skip the scotch egg if it’s available!
been wanting to try here for a while and this trip we did...food is outstanding and will be back for sure...
After theater dinner with family. We got some lovely photos of our group!
Lovely prix fixe Xmas dinner
Christmas Day dining from the UK which met our. Expectations.
Great Christmas dinner.
THERE WAS A BIT OF A SNAFU WITH THE RESERVATION BUT IN THE END THE STAFF PULLED TOGETHER AND WORKED ITOUT. THE SCOTCH EGGS AND PIG EARS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST!
ALSO OF NOTE - THE RIBEYE WAS COOKED TO PERFECTION.
Usually come for dinner. Lunch/Brunch was disappointing. ran out of main egg dish and frittata came burnt. Other dishes were not exceptional: scrambled eggs too salty, unoriginal salad. But that's what I get for ordering a salad. Just not compelled to return any time soon. Cozy ambiance.
Because my wife loved April from watching the Mind of a Chef episodes this was a required stop in our journey through NYC. The steak for 2 was spectacular as well as the scotch egg. Both must gets. We found the booth optimal as we had our 5 and 7 year old girls with us. They loved the service and the steak. Go, get a bourbon, get a steak, and enjoy.
Service was the worst. Spilled coffee and didn’t clean, forgot our order, forgot our table, never checked in on us, never brought a bill. None of the waiters, busters, manager or hosts noticed.
I chose The Breslin for the holiday atmosphere and reviews on various sites for seasonal spirit. The interior did not disappoint! We arrived early for our reservation and had a seat at the bar. Bartenders were very busy at 5:30pm on a Saturday, but they were attentive and knowledgeable when we ordered. We were able to push the bar tab to the table order and were promptly seated for our dinner reservation.
Our server was very friendly and knew all of the nuances of the menu. Her recommendations for food and drink were spot on. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was prepared exactly as ordered. I had the lamb burger, medium rare, because I know from past experience that it is very easy to overcook and dry out. My burger was so juicy I needed extra napkins!
The only negative (2 stars) was for value. For 2 of us, 4 drinks, 1 app (brussel sprouts-enough for 2), the lamb burger with fries, and the pork chop plate, with tax and tip was $200. I don't mind paying for quality food and service and I was certainly not disappointed with that.
The food is always rich, interesting and delicious. Service was great as well.
Dinner was fine, but our party was rushed and asked to give up the table, resulting a rather bad taste at the end of the meal.
Great atmosphere, enjoyed Vinyl Monday. Food was excellent
The food is awesome, as usual. Lamb Burger is amazing, the pancakes were amazing. I can go on all day son.
Excellent service, nice food, unhurried nice evening.
A bit too loud for good conversation. May have been because we were sitting in an area with lower ceilings. Otherwise, food and service are always great.
The food was disappointing - not as good as in previous visits. The check was brought to the table before we had been offered coffee or dessert, giving us the impression that they just wanted to turn the table.
I love, love, love the Breslin! I used to work in the gastropub as a back server and I know how many efforts the chef and the cooks put into creating the outstanding food. Also I worked elbow to elbow with servers and bartenders who are still working there and all the guys are amazing! They are very attentive and professional. I can't say that I'm a regular guest in the Breslin but sometimes I feel that I miss it so much that I either drop by for just one drink or book a table to spent at least a couple hours. A new season dish - Roasted pumpkin soup - is DELICIOUS!!! Don't miss a chance to try it! Also I ordered a couple new deserts - Concord grape sorbet and Brioche with a pumpkin glaze. Love it! Thanks for the wonderful meal and for the great evening! And I'd like to say special thanks to Robert, a badass server, who has recommended a new white wine on the menu, beautiful and bright Greco di Tufo, which perfectly accompanied the meal.
Visited for Thanksgiving lunch and had a wonderful time. Great food and wine at a fantastic restaurant.
Disappointing service - struggled to order more coffee and to even get the bill at the end of the meal.
