Ate here this weekend and while the food was good I will never come back or recommend this restaurant. I ordered the lamb shank and it had a one inch piece of bone mixed in with the food. While eating I felt the bone in my throat and started coughing and choking. I luckily was able to get it out of my throat without it getting stuck. I showed the waitress the bone and she was very dismissive and treated this like it wasn't even a problem or issue! Completely ridiculous that such a bone was IN my food, caused me serious discomfort, could have harmed me, and that the waitstaff was so dismissive. I was not compensated in any way for a really egregious error, or even given an apology! I will never come back here again.

I'm usually not a stickler for service as long as the food is good. But the service here is proactively smug and incompetent, undermining any potentially redeeming qualities of the food and admittedly good coffee and desserts.

1. Waited 15 minutes for table at brunch despite a reservation and plenty of empty tables.
2. Food was taking awhile so I ask our long haired mustachioed waiter (Fabio) if he could bring out our scones and toast first. His response: "I told you you should have ordered the bread basket."
3. Tables were so rickety our coffee was spilling all over the place.
4. They didn't have pork sausage or their house made English muffins -- during brunch.
5. I order the Full English. They offer to sub lamb bacon for pork sausage and forget the lamb bacon. One waiter offers to cancel the lamb bacon from our bill rather than bring it out. Huh?
Two waiters and a manager later, I get my lamb bacon.

Then this:

I tell the host and Fabio that it's a birthday and they agree to bring out a few desserts with a candle as a surprise. They totally forget (or worse, maybe they didn't), clear our table, and bring out dessert menus. I remind a different waiter (Fabio abandoned us after the bread basket exchange) who has no clue what's going on. Finally, they bring out the desserts, but one at a time before the actual cake with the candle arrives. So much for the surprise, and of course, no apology.

We all shook our heads and laughed because, well, the service here is just that -- a joke.

The Breslin was very disappointing. While the atmosphere is nice with the English Pub theme and the signature ribeye steak is great, all the other food was very ordinary and quite fatty. The service was generally inattentive and sub-par for a restaurant of this level.

We had made a reservation, and when we arrived the table wasn't ready. Not a problem, and we were directed to the bar to wait. Seated ourselves at the bar and were totally ignored by the bar tender, whom seemed more interested in chatting to a group of girls then serving customers. After 20 minutes of being ignored despite my best efforts to gain the bar keepers attention our table was ready. We both had the lamb burger which were well worth the hype, and the service from the waiter was excellent, a vast improvement on his colleague at the bar. Overall a great meal.

An unforgettable night. After having finished the marathon with an pr my boy friend proposed to me in The Breslin and I said yessss!!!
He'd ordered the best champagne and we ate the most delicious piece of meat ever! A wonderful night.

The server's attitude was atrocious. The food was presented so poorly and without any artistic merit. It was edible but by the time we received it, we just wanted to leave. We would never go back--deeply disappointed.

Delicious, great service and atmosphere. We had a wonderful meal with friends and family, however at times the music was too loud for normal conversation around the table. Turning it down into more of a background sound would have made the experience perfect.

Four of us had dinner here before attending a show at Madison Square Garden which is an easy walk from the restaurant. Service, food and drinks were all ecellent. The noise level was nice for conversation. Wonderful place for dinner with friends.

The food was not executed properly. Over cooked and dry scotch egg, stale bread with a dried out guinea hen terrine, soggy batter on the meager pieces of skin-on fluke (fish & chips). It was a quiet Monday lunch, but the service was extremely slow and the food lacked care. We were very disappointed, and expected a higher standard, considering the chef and reputation of the restaurant.

This is hands down our favorite dinner out in NYC. The food was phenomenal. But the service is what made it stand head and shoulders above all the great dining experiences in NYC. We will be back!

Lamb burger is a smash ! chips are fantastically done. only slight letdown is the lamb shank. To be honest, braised meat until tender is not really my thing.

FABULOUS! Welcoming hostess, attentive bartender, recommendations made and staff so on the mark, it was a sensational night. Then there was the food- words can not describe my pork shoulder's flavors. I wanted to keep eating and savoring long after I should have stopped. The fries were the best I have eaten, and I am very picky about fries. I was worried, after reading some reviews about the friendliness of the staff. Nothing to worry about. So welcoming, so attentive, so concerned with making sure the timing of our experience fit our pre-concert schedule.

Service was good. Waiter came to check on our couple times and refill out water. We had the seafood sausage and scotch egg. Strong recommended. The mushroom toast was too salty. That was the only disappointing thing of the night. Ribeye steak was perfectly done.

The staff were nice and the flavors were good, but I had a bad experience that the kitchen and management did nothing about. My wife and I ordered the steak for two at MP of $125. We asked for medium rare and it came out on the blue side of rare. At this point I think the restaurant is supposed to give you the choice between a new steak and re-firing. The server just said they would cook us a new one, which is what I preferred. Instead they sent out the previous steak reheated. I think you can't do that and charge $125 . . . but they did. Anyway, at this point it was too late for our plans to turn back. Neither the server nor the manager said anything about it later, despite the fact that we left 1/3 of the food on the plate. In most circumstances I would have complained but we had somewhere to be soon after.

Wrong and bad service, expensive and without taste...
Big disapointment with a focus of thebad quality of services. Even if you are foreigner ,you are customers and efforts have to be made.

Quite simply, one of most wonderful breakfasts... ever. My wife and I had the curry lentil [with roasted tomatoes] and the chargrilled steak with tomatillo salsa respectively and they were both wonderful.

Hostess was curt, did not smile. We had to carry our full drinks from the bar to the table upstairs ourselves, once our table was ready. Waitress was lovely, however, I could not eat my main course as it was overpoweringly flavoured - my uneaten plate was taken away with no enquiry as to why it was uneaten and we were never asked how our meal was. Completely unimpressive experience overall.

Had a wonderful table in a curtained booth that probably made conversation easier than it would have been at a table due to noise volume. Decor is very cozy. Great background music selection. Service was fine, but not outstanding; hard to find someone to get a drink re-order in. Food was tasty, but overly salty for my palate, but these days it seems the more trendy the restaurant, the more salty the food. Lamb sausage was delicious, as were the desserts. Coconut ice cream and chocolate dessert both yum.

Me and my friends started our NYC stay at Breslin. It turned out to be a great welcome to the city. The restaurant is small, has a good atmosphere and is nicely decorated. We had ordered table som days before we visited midweek. Would have loved to get one of the sitting booths, but on arrival we were told they were booked. Can't remember if the booth-option was there when booking.
Anyhow, food came quick and it was delicious. Will highly recommend the berkshire pork shoulder! The beer menu should have been wider, but will come back any day!

This was a casual business lunch and The Breslin was perfect. Great service, great food. And for lunch, in a somewhat vacuous part of the city, it's a great place.

Terrible service for brunch - took 15 minutes for a waitress to come by initially and then another 30 minutes to get a coffee which is apparently made in the hotel next door, and there were maybe half the tables filled at most. Food wasn't bad but wasn't anything special - very weird menu.

The bar before dinner was pretty cool which was a good start. We were then sat at tables which are right by the door to the hotel so you're essentially in the walk/doorway to the hotel lobby which was not great, even a curtain over the door way or the door being closed would have made it feel less like being in a waiting room.

The staff were wonderful. Our waiter was great. The food was pretty rich and oily. The shank was not good-it was 75% fat with very little meat on it. My pork was delicious but was very oily. The food is obviously supposed to be rich and heavy and that's fine but it just didn't feel very well executed.

I was keen to check out The Breslin after a wonderful meal at the Spotted Pig last year. The Breslin exceedes expectations... three days later I'm still dreaming about that lamb burger.
