Love the food and ambiance. Service was great!
Very simply, the food and service are always great.
Food is reliably very good. Waiters were especially appreciated because they don't interrupt your conversation (over & over) to inquire how you're doing. This feels relaxed; you don't feel rushed.
Fantastic ambiance with great food, very accommodating staff. Wonderful people and easy going vibe with keen eye for detail and comfortable, romantic booths and lighting.
Great place to come and get an outstanding meal. A little high on price, but I was prepared for that. The KC Porkchop was delicious!! Similarly the chicken parmesan was excellent and light - not what we expected but excellent and tasty.
For dessert tried the chocolate bread pudding. All I can say is OMG.
Good drink selection. Cocktails and wine.
Our dinner was very well prepared and both of us thought the selections were well made. The Malbec by the glass was excellent but overpriced as was the entire meal. This was once a local restaurant with good food and nice ambiance. I think it's become a bit pricey for just an average night out.
Thought my pasta entree was excellent and also enjoyed the Caesar Salad, which is why I gave four stars for the food. The service unfortunately was sloppy and rude. They spilled some of my martini when setting it on the table, they spilled some of my friend's soup when setting it down, neither of which was acknowledged. Just thought for the price and rating, the service would have been more professional. I don't think we'll be running back anytime soon. This restaurant is likely a strong appeal for locals, but I wouldn't make the trip (living in the Valley).
My friends duck tacos came out with pico de gallo and she asked for them with out it.
Food was excellent. Service a bit slow but not too bad. We had an early reservation so the noise level was quite low until near the end of our meal when the noise level increased significantly. Quite a varied menu - we both had a fish dish and were quite satisfied. I have had meat dishes there before that were excellent.
The food was fabulous. Much better than I had expected it to be. The service, not so much. Our waiter had much more important things to do than to answer our questions when we asked them or bring us wine glasses (the bottle sat opened on the table for a good 10 minutes before we had anything to drink the wine with). His wine service in general was abominable. He took the cork with him like trash; sloshed up everyone's glasses without proffering a taste; and generally had no idea what he was doing. The worst part was when I got home and saw that OpenTable had been lied to and told that I had no-showed my reservation -- after I not only checked in by name, but watched the host check me off. Very strange and really too bad because as I wrote above, the food was very well made and tasted excellent. Alas, there is much more to a good meal than the food itself.
I have been to this restaurant numerous times. The steaks are aged prime...excellent
Brentwood has always been a bit pricy, but now it is ridiculous. Chicken paillard costing
$38! It was a special and, as their protocol seems to dictate , price is not revealed.
Please remember to ask...otherwise be as shocked as I was.
One of our favs!!! Love the "old school" vibe. Food is awesome... great menu .
Same great restaurant as always- even on NYE. Love it. We had a good time.
Excellent food !
We have driven by the restaurant for years and finally decided to stop in. Excellent food - service was outstanding. Truly pleasant experience. We cannot wait to go again.
I have not been to The Brentwood in many years.
I was looking for a good restaurant to take my good friends kids- young adults here from Florida to a hip place in the Brentwood area of town, I thought of this.
In the past, I had always enjoyed the atmosphere, food as well as the service. I felt the prices were fair as well. I am well aware that Bruce Marder from numerous restaurants (West Beach Cafe, Rebecca's , Capo's) to name a few owns this as well...Unless he has sold it since I was there??
Anyway, there were 3 of us. We had a bit of a hard time deciding what to eat, because nothing on the menu really stood out.
My friends son settled on one of the "specials" of the evening, Chicken Parmigiana ($38.00 + an additional $5.00 for a side of spaghetti)!!! His girlfriend chose a pasta ($23.00) and I chose a "Jidori" chicken!
It was the only thing that appealed to me on a very overpriced menu. My fault as I did not look towards the right enough to realize that the Chicken cost $43.00!!
All that being said, West Side restaurant high prices, ok, but high prices deserve high end service.
Such was NOT the case. The waitress had zero personality and somehow disappeared whenever we needed something. She reappeared when she tried to sell more stuff. NO bread, until we asked someone else to bring it, no follow up on fresh pepper for the Caesar Salad until once again having to ask!
An additional $1.50 for anchovies for a Caesar Salad that cost $17.00 when most cost way less and include anchovies. No extra plates included when we specifically stated we were sharing the salad. Once again needed to ask.
To top it all off, I left my credit card there. Spoke to the manager a few times concerning all that I stated above and he never mentioned I left my card there.
I finally figured that out and when I asked him to send it to me (they are right across from a huge post office) and I specifically said I live an hour away, he felt uncomfortable about doing that! One more issue.
The main point I want to drive home is that it's very undeservedly "hoity toity". The place was packed with elderly old money types, shawls and jewels and whatnot, and God bless them; if they had any food culture at all they would not dine here. They just eat here because they get to show off how much they spent. And it's not that expensive, like $100 a head. But with the elitist vibe in the place you would think it was $1,000.
I waited tables at some of the most famous restaurants in the world, like The Forge in Miami Beach, an $11m a year restaurant with an average bottle value of $2,000. I've never seen a team member of The Forge profiling a guest like a "TEMP_OC_CONTENT_HEREquot;, "$" or "$TEMP_OC_CONTENT_HEREquot; sign...they are all equal and here to enjoy food culture.
Before thinking about "turning and burning" the "less indulgent" guests like me ($160 for two people), maybe you should think about elevating the experience to the same hight as the attitude. These are things that happened, none of which are a big deal to me really, but would have never happened at the humble $11m a year Forge:
I told the server my wine budget and he pointed to a more expensive wine but didn't describe it. He also never asked me what I was planning on eating with it.
The bread basket was dumped on our table, normally someone explains what is in the bread. The explanation is always nice but then there is the accountability of allergies (I have none btw).
My soup didn't come with a soup spoon.
The food runner "sold" the food (meaning, he did not know which of us ordered which plate).
The food was just alright. There was noticeably too much salt, or saltiness, to the rigatoni sauce. I was curious what "Jidori" chicken was, he said it was the "wagu beef" of chicken but couldn't elaborate. It was on the dry side. The $50 bottle of Syrah just sucked - I'm no expert, but more knowledgeable than average and I know my $25 Meiomi from the liquor store at home is way better. The whole list is just...fire the sommolier.
The food was decent, the room was nothing to write home about. The cocktails were very good. The service was largely indifferent. While I would go again, I would not list it among my top choices.
This is a great cozy spot for a nice dinner. Low key. Extensive menu. Food is good but nothing super special. It's pretty pricey for what you get. All up though, we like this spot.
Always extraordinary- like being in a rarefied space for awhile. Great service!
Way too expensive for what you get. Boring Caesar salad. Mediocre ribs. Service was spotty.
This special place is super comfortable, chic and all around one of the best! The menu is varied but overall feels like delicious comfort food. Great hang with great food.
I had the Branzino and it was very bland, vegetables tasteless
2 gentlemen had Pasta Carbonara also bland and not up
To your standard.
Our friend who had the chicken said hers was delicious .
We had very good service and loved seeing our friends
Guess we hit an off night but we will be back.
We left wondering if perhaps you changed chefs
See you next time
Never saw this place so empty. Foods ok. A bit overpriced but all in all a good local stop
Brentwood was always good, but I swear it's even better now. Comfortable, good design, great food, great service. A little too expensive to visit as often as I'd like - $62.50 for a NY strip? Yikes!
I always have a wonderful meal at the Brentwood. The menu has a great range of selections.
There are certain dining establishments that rise above any trendy hype. They inevitably are locally popular with exceptional food and drink, unpretentious but attentive service and imbue the patron with a sense of warmth and acceptance. They achieve the ancient goal of breaking bread. This restaurant is one of them!
We loved it!!! The food was great and so was the service. I love the "old school" vibe. I thought it was a totally cool place and will absolutely go back. It's a hip, retro, fun spot.
Food was good, wines by the glass a bit pricey, service was great. We had 4 people and between us had 2 drinks each, 4 appetizers/salads, 3 pastas, 1 chicken entree and no desserts....lots of comfort food offered but also healthier fare. Nice comfortable casual atmosphere but a bit noisy....
I eat there a lot and we were disappointed with the service. Very slow and inattentive.... Took forever to get a drink and made us feel uncomfortable each time the servers walked by and looked at us impatiently as if we were a nuisance.
My guests asked me why I like the restaurant so much. They said they'd never come back.
I love the Brentwood but I was very surprised by this
very off night..
Music was loud and did not fit the scene. My wife ordered the meatloaf and she loved it. However, the presentation was odd. A circle of meatloaf on one side and a circle of masked potatoes on the other. No veggies at all. My plate was the farm range chicken. Vegetables were WAY OVER COOKED. Chicken was good. Funny part was the gave me a tiny tiny smear of mashed potatoes and gravy. My wife n I laughed. Then a few minutes later the waiter brought out a separate bowl of potatoes. It's almost lost me they forgot. Music like Funky Town was playing load. Very interesting. Waitress said "Cheers" each time she brought us something. Because it was our 20th wedding anniversary they allowed us to pick a complimentary dessert. Very kind! It was an experience to say the least. We did laugh about it in a good way. A one time LA "Funky Town" adventure.
One of the best menus! You can eat at whatever dining level your in the mod. Great!
I truly don't understand the darkness. It really is terrible and everyone I talk to about this agrees. And I am only 50 not 75! Also, food has always been mediocre. Last time I was there, it was delicious so decided to try it agin. Unfortunately, food was worse than I remember. Cesar salad tasteless and boring and the fried chicken, which I have ordered before, was DISGUSTING. I had a stomach ache after. The other man we were with had it too and completely agreed. Don't think I will be returning anytime soon. Sorry, I think you should pass on this honest review.
Always consistent service and food. Great crowd. Always new dishes and continued standards
Had not been to this place for a few years and it did not disappoint. We got a great corner booth and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and on the Yonce. This restaurant manages to exceed our expectations every time we have dined here, as the service and food are excellent and the energy in the place is outstanding. This is a great place to go to celebrate a special occasion or when you just want to "feel good" about life in general! But the prices will astound you!
went there for a date night with my husband. Love the atmosphere. Great food, we had a Gilt City Deal, and everything was fabulous... we had the salmon starter, the seafood salad with crab, and the Sole and Salmon. Chocolate Bread Pudding for desert. All was outstanding. We highly recommend and will definitely go back again
We love the BRENTWOOD Our favorite go to spot ...a little loud but delish
The food was bland and very overpriced for what it was. I would not go back.
THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I WILL NOT GO BACK
