The Brass Rail - Locust Valley Ratings and Reviews
A varied menu, there were many interesting and creative food choices. My party of four were all happy with their food. Tasty, well prepared, presented attractively & well portioned we had no complaints. The drinks were also creative and enjoyable.
The only complaint that we did have was a 25 minute wait for our table. Our reservation was made well ahead (at least 2 weeks). Management were aware of our wait & were accommodating giving us our first round of drinks on the house.
We will definitely return
Very pleasant dinner with friends. The prices and the menu have always made this place attractive and the Restaurant Week Menu offered great value. Food and service were topnotch. My only quibble - ditch the waiter with the giant pepper mill hovering over my salad. Just put a nice pepper mill on the table and let me do it myself. I thought the pepper mill act went out 20 years ago. We had a very pleasant meal and evening with friends - that's what its all about for me.
We went for restaurant week. Only one in three of us ordered from restaurant week menu. Braised beef was excellent; fish appetizer was ok. Apple taret was good as well. Ordered Branzino on regular dinner menu wish was excellent. Appetizer of endive salad too chewy but kale salad excellent. We enjoyed the evening tremendously and will return again. Great neighborhood gem.
Never disappoints. Even on New Years Eve the service was excellent, and the food was wonderful . We had a good time
We were not rushed even though we ordered burgers and sandwiches.. The jalapeño cheddar burger was a favorite with our gang, The salmon in the salmon sand which was done perfectly, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. It is a regular on our list.
We had an amazing experience. The food was awesome, the venue decorated beautifully for the holidays and the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a mother with a school age child, who stood at the side of our table and sat on her mother's lap complaining throughout the meal. Since we were seated at a banquette, it definitely interfered with our enjoyment of the evening.
The brass rail never disappoints! Outstanding food and attentive, professional service every time.
We were there for our anniversary dinner and did not order dessert. The manager knew it was our anniversary and sent over a complementary dessert with a candle anyway. From appetizer to desert, and outstanding experience.
The guacamole and chips appetizer was excellent. The salad was fresh and delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed the ribs snd spicy rock shrimp appetizers. All 4 main courses ranging from a burger to rack of lamb were delicious and cooked exactly as asked. The service was excellent. It was refreshing to go to a restaurant with a noise level that was quiet where you were able to hear your friends across the table. I am definitely adding the Brass Rail to my restaurant list. It’s a must return.
We went to Brass Rail for Restaurant Week. The appetizers were great: cauliflower soup and gnocchi. We both had the squash ravioli for the main course which was average only. Desserts were better than average but not outstanding--carrot cake and apple strudel with ice cream. The noise level on a Tuesday night was moderate. We could carry on a nice conversation. The bar, right behind me was full (no standing) and a ball game was on the TV, which sort of took away a little bit from the atmosphere. If we had been seated in the back, it wouldn't have been an issue. Overall, a satisfying but not exceptional dinner.
