I thought the food was good, but on the pricey side. Dinner for 2 was close to $300
Great restaurant food is great so is service
Good bar crowd
The organic Chicken was exceptionally well-prepared, very crispy skin. Consistently good food and service.
Food was delicious. Good service. Nice ambiance.
Unfortunately it was a bit Noisy
The Brass Rail is an excellent choice for a quiet dinner, either for couples or for groups of friends. In the evening there's always a lively bar scene, yet the dining room is set off from the bar area so that the noise level for diners generally remains moderate. On this occasion, unfortunately, one of our main courses, coq au vin, was very disappointing. The dish, which was among the specials for the evening, had been very over-reduced leading to gelatinous and extremely salty result. To their credit, the restaurant offered to replace the dish and also gave us complementary desserts for our table. Based on numerous prior visits to The Brass Rail, we're convinced that our somewhat unsatisfactory experience on this particular evening was a fluke. We will continue to patronize The Brass Rail and to recommend the restaurant to friends.
first visit to restaurant, accommodating as we added 2 additional seats at our table at last minute.
Horrific service with a terrible attitude. Clearly uninterested and couldn’t be bothered. Completely neglected the entire meal. It began with nearly 25minute wait to take our order. Followed by 15 minute wait to get our 2nd drink. Ended with not even being offered a dessert menu until we asked. Really unfortunate as the food was great.
We can always count on The Brass Rail! I think we’ve celebrated our last 3 Anniversaries here because of the consistency: great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Food & service are consistently excellent. We can count on having a great meal and an enjoyable time whether it's for a special occasion or just a night out.
Fantastic! I highly recommend coming here.
Service score is not indicative of what one can typically expect - waitress probably not at her best
A favorite local restaurant that never disappoints whether you want small plates/pub food or an entree. Great variety of beers on tap.
Dinner with friends, we all loved our appetizers especially the rock shrimp. The food and service was great.
Always dependable and good service with a wide choice of "smallPlates" and a typical three course menu structure to give you a ton of options and variety
One of the north shore's finest restaurants. The wait staff are always professional and prompt, the food is always perfect, and the experience flawless.
Stopped in for lunch and a special date on a Sunday. The place is attractive, friendly service. We chose several small plates and liked everything: mussels, calamari, crab salad, rock shrimp, and then a cheese plate. Nice wine and beer selection. Definitely recommend, and will come back.
Food was great. Party had pork chop, skirt steak, chicken parm and duck. All were great. Duck was crispy on the outside and good just right. Reasonably priced. Service was excellent
Very nice Valentines Day dinner
Love this restaurant...great menu which entices me to order something different each time.
consistently good food with a menu that has a lot of choices with small plates & big entrees -- it can be a bit noisy but we keep returning for the food
Excellent friendly neighborhood restaurant. Service and food top notch!
Simply the best inLocust Valley.....................................................
It's stupid to demand 50 characters.
Good food and service it is a very quiet place on Tuesday for lunch.
A varied menu, there were many interesting and creative food choices. My party of four were all happy with their food. Tasty, well prepared, presented attractively & well portioned we had no complaints. The drinks were also creative and enjoyable.
The only complaint that we did have was a 25 minute wait for our table. Our reservation was made well ahead (at least 2 weeks). Management were aware of our wait & were accommodating giving us our first round of drinks on the house.
We will definitely return
It was a great place for lunch with friend who I had not seen for a while. It was quite so we could have a conversation. The little fireplace was nice near our table. Food was creative and good. The service was great - not being rushed.
Very pleasant dinner with friends. The prices and the menu have always made this place attractive and the Restaurant Week Menu offered great value. Food and service were topnotch. My only quibble - ditch the waiter with the giant pepper mill hovering over my salad. Just put a nice pepper mill on the table and let me do it myself. I thought the pepper mill act went out 20 years ago. We had a very pleasant meal and evening with friends - that's what its all about for me.
The food and service is always good.
Not up to the usual standards. Very disappointed. Usually have a great meal there.
We went for restaurant week. Only one in three of us ordered from restaurant week menu. Braised beef was excellent; fish appetizer was ok. Apple taret was good as well. Ordered Branzino on regular dinner menu wish was excellent. Appetizer of endive salad too chewy but kale salad excellent. We enjoyed the evening tremendously and will return again. Great neighborhood gem.
Ate at The Brass Rail for the first time during Restaurant week and thought each course was outstanding! Will definitely be back!
Great dinning experience during restaurant week
Food was very good however the beer, Guinness, was from the bottom of the keg and should not have been served. Waitress was gone so fast that I could not easly replace it without a long wait.
Enjoy this restaurant every time we go. It’s rustic and cozy with a fireplace in the back room. Food is exceptional. Cocktails r all fresh ingredients. Service very accommodating. I would recommend for a romantic night or with a few friends.
This place is just ok. We weren’t overwhelmed with our food and won’t be returning
Food is great, service is good.
I had the Halibut, it was delicious.
Way to expensive for what you get. One drink from the bar requires taking out a loan. It has dropped a notch in food quality this past year.
Never disappoints. Even on New Years Eve the service was excellent, and the food was wonderful . We had a good time
We were not rushed even though we ordered burgers and sandwiches.. The jalapeño cheddar burger was a favorite with our gang, The salmon in the salmon sand which was done perfectly, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. It is a regular on our list.
This restaurant is over-rated....yes the parking lot is always full BUT the Wed special (Coq au Vin) was TERRIBLE....certain dishes good..ie clams, ribs and certain dished bad or mediocre.
