The Brass Rail - Locust Valley Ratings and Reviews
Never disappoints. Even on New Years Eve the service was excellent, and the food was wonderful . We had a good time
We were not rushed even though we ordered burgers and sandwiches.. The jalapeño cheddar burger was a favorite with our gang, The salmon in the salmon sand which was done perfectly, and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. It is a regular on our list.
We had an amazing experience. The food was awesome, the venue decorated beautifully for the holidays and the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a mother with a school age child, who stood at the side of our table and sat on her mother's lap complaining throughout the meal. Since we were seated at a banquette, it definitely interfered with our enjoyment of the evening.
The brass rail never disappoints! Outstanding food and attentive, professional service every time.
We were there for our anniversary dinner and did not order dessert. The manager knew it was our anniversary and sent over a complementary dessert with a candle anyway. From appetizer to desert, and outstanding experience.
The guacamole and chips appetizer was excellent. The salad was fresh and delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed the ribs snd spicy rock shrimp appetizers. All 4 main courses ranging from a burger to rack of lamb were delicious and cooked exactly as asked. The service was excellent. It was refreshing to go to a restaurant with a noise level that was quiet where you were able to hear your friends across the table. I am definitely adding the Brass Rail to my restaurant list. It’s a must return.
We went to Brass Rail for Restaurant Week. The appetizers were great: cauliflower soup and gnocchi. We both had the squash ravioli for the main course which was average only. Desserts were better than average but not outstanding--carrot cake and apple strudel with ice cream. The noise level on a Tuesday night was moderate. We could carry on a nice conversation. The bar, right behind me was full (no standing) and a ball game was on the TV, which sort of took away a little bit from the atmosphere. If we had been seated in the back, it wouldn't have been an issue. Overall, a satisfying but not exceptional dinner.
Wonderful local gem with fantastic food . Daily specials and wonderful for bar menu or dinner . The skirt steak and meatloaf were wonderful . Nice wine selection. Great desserts all homemade specialities . Great that it was a Monday and our anniversary and there was a great place to spend it . Thanks for the candle celebration and well wishes .
This has always been one of my favorite restaurants and it is really disappointing to write a fair review. The caesar salad is good but difficult to eat due to how it is served. Too much work for both myself and the kitchen. Just serve it like a regular caesar salad, chopped romaine in a bowl, rather than a hunk of lettuce I need to cut up. The real problem was - I told the waitress to serve me the salmon pink in the middle. Well it came fully cooked and dry. I have never never left over my salmon. There was so much left over the waitress wanted to know if I wanted it wrapped. When I told her it was not cooked to my specifications she just said oh. Someone should talk to her. Maybe a free glass of wine, desert for the able. But oh?????
I thought the food was very good as was the service. There were 4 of us and we all liked our dinner. I had sliced duck which was very good, the Pad thai with shrimp was also very good as was the sliced strip steak and the rack of Lamb. We also had the lobster mac and cheese which was good but could have used more lobster. I thought the prices weren’t cheap but not unreasonable, I would certainly go back.
Was here Thursday eve. Our server seemed rushed & disinterested. She seemed to be working in a diner not a restaurant. There were no pleasantries, or chit chat. She dropped off menues in passing then came back by doing something else to get a quick drink order then did the same for our dinner order. It was all very quick. The place wasn't very busy but she seemed rushed. She replaced our silverware by tossing them on the table. I felt like we walked into a cute restaurant expecting a relaxing meal but service was like a diner. Food was great! Nice wine by the glass list. Wish we had a more professional server.
