the bqe restaurant & lounge
mixed green salad or grits
I really liked how the waiter advised us from the very beginning of the items they weren’t available. The waiter provided great feedback and meal recommendations. DJ was lit and we had an overall great time.
Amazing food and amazing service. Will definitely be back!!
It was my birthday weekend and my first time going to BQE. From the moment I walked in, it was great customer service, a wonderful atmosphere, positive vibes, good music through out the restaurant and videos playing on televisions. I highly recommend the fried chicken wings, Gouda cheese grits, chicken sausage omelette and salmon croquettes. All were delicious. The servers and manager came over to wish me a Happy Birthday. The DJ joined in with the singing of Happy Birthday to me. It was amazing. I will visit again and strongly recommend BQE for good food and fun!🙂
I went for my birthday and it was amazing
First and foremost, I had a 9:45am reservation made on OpenTable. We arrived at 9:30am to see the staff unloading grocery bags of food from a car in the parking lot. We approached the front door of the restaurant to be treated rudely and told that the restaurant doesn’t open until 10am. As we waited outside for the restaurant to open, we were approached by parking attendants saying that anyone in parking lot owes $15 to park. What?!! $15 to park...on a Sunday morning, in an empty lot beside the restaurant that had a sign with the restaurant’s name on it?!!!
Moving forward, the doors were unlocked at 10am. I mentioned to the hostess that BQE may want to update their reservation listing with OpenTable to reflect the restaurant availability beginning at 10am. I was told that my reservation said 9:45am. EXACTLY....but BQE doesn’t open until 10am!!
Anyway, we were seated and had a very pleasant waitress. It took about 30 minutes to get our food despite being the first guests seated. My guess is that the kitchen staff may have gotten a late start on prepping since they were bringing grocery bags in from a car at 9:30am when we arrived.
Nevertheless, I ordered the red velvet waffle and chicken which was good (despite me asking for a soft cooked waffle and receiving on that was hard and crunchy along the outer edges).. My husband had the fish and grits which was delightful . One of our guests ordered the bananas foster French toast which came out on the dark side (burned) but we could tell that the dish would have been really good if the bread had been properly prepared. We also asked for coffee and were told that BQE doesn’t have hot drinks. Who serves brunch without coffee??!!
I had visited BQE one Friday night in the past and was very pleased. This most recent Sunday brunch experience was unbelievably horrid. A reservation 15 minutes before the restaurant opens, $15 to park on a Sunday morning, no coffee at brunch and burned food!! Never again!! Good luck BQE!
The food was okay. But, the vibe , drinks, and hookah was amazing.
The food was good—flavorful and nice portion sizes—despite the fact that I had to send back my chicken because it was still bloody. However, my server (Darius) provided great customer service and was very attentive. He also quickly resolved the issue with my partially prepared chicken. (I probably should’ve taken a picture of the chicken because they might say this is a lie based on the rest of my review but I didn’t because it was only a minor issue at the time.) Everything else was good; my partner also enjoyed his food.
However, our experience was ruined by a lack of professionalism and poor customer service shown by the hostess and “manager” working with her to seat patrons. The hostess is the first person a patron usually interacts with when visiting a restaurant, and quite honestly can make or break an experience. We were met with attitude when we asked them to fix our seating arrangement. I had a table reservation and RSVP for an event and was not seated in the event area. When asked to move, I was met with attitude. This could have easily been avoided by saying “Hi I’m X. Welcome to BQE. Are you here for the event or regular dining?” rather than pawning the patron off to a server for seating (in the wrong area). After my server made us aware the event was in another area of the restaurant, I promptly asked to be moved. However, the hostess and “manager” showed only disregard in resolving the issue they created.
Overall great food and service! One problem small area for the amount of people that visit. Too congested but excellent and reasonable price food.
Went with Friends Everyone Enjoyed themselves
Parking isn’t good
Spacing was kinda tight and they seated us in an area where we stayed cold because we were in front of the entry door but our waitress was great she was sweet and apologetic
My boyfriend and I celebrated our first Valentine’s Day here and it was amazing. The service was great. The food was great. Everything about the experience was great. We will definitely be coming back!!
We arrive at our reservation time only for the restaurant to have no record of our reservation. The waiting area is tiny and cramped and they brushed past guests as though they weren’t standing there. They still tried to accommodate us despite the lost reservation but the wait time for the food was ridiculous. It was over an hour before we saw any food. The music/DJ was too loud. The only positive note was the waitress, Ashley, when was attentive and friendly.
We made a reservation but still ended up waiting for an additional 45 mins after arriving. Once we were seated, however, it was a total vibe. Live music and an awesome DJ. A few drinks in and it’ll be the best night you’ve had in Atlanta.
ALWAYS THE PLACE TO GO WHEN I POP IN TOWN,NEVER A DULL MOMENT
Our table was in a dark corner with no light behind the crowd. Unable to see the live performance that was added to our bill. Had to ask who was our server because no one came to greet us at our table. Food was tasteless, greens were gritty like they had not been washed properly. Table with guest of six, all of our food came separately. I feel like they just cram people in there to make money. Our table was horrible!!! We were literally in a corner behind the entire crowd of people. A small booth and they added three chairs. I've been multiple times but this time was the worse. You gotta do better BQE
My friends and I met for a birthday party and the service was awesome. The food was great, the DJ was cute and energetic and the band was certainly wonderful.
I have been here plenty of times but the last two times my reservation weren't honored. Specifically, once I was told that my reservation wasn't on file. I presented the reservation confirmation and still had to wait to be seated as if I didn't reserve a table ahead of time. Recently, I went to celebrate my birthday and I requested standard setting. However, I was seated at a high top table right by the door and was told "this is all we have'. I feel like reservations should be honored. Furthermore, theirs a lack of honesty presented by the bartenders. I ordered a shot of Don Julio and was given a shot of 1800. The bartender was later honest about being out of Don Julio instead of being honest about this upfront. All in all, it is a decent place but sometimes this is my last choice because of the customer service.
The food was amazing the vibe was cool and the mimosas were great
We were in the ATL to attend Oprah’s 2020 vision tour and went here based on the recommendation from our concierge. First night we didn’t have a reservation - the place was crowded - we were led to a seating area OUTSIDE- it was a heated tent area behind the restaurant. Props to the restaurant for capitalizing on its popularity; however, I don’t expect to eat dinner in a tent in the parking lot. By the way, we observed servers bringing food and drinks outdoors UNCOVERED ! So, we decided to forgo this dining experience and made a reservation through open table for the following night. We were late for our reservation- I tried calling the restaurant (a few times) to notify them but only got voicemail. When we we arrived - I explained this to the hostess/manager - and we were seated. However, there was an unwelcome tone from the hostess that accompanied the seating. Our server, however was pleasant enough. We ordered food and drinks - and about halfway into our meal - we were informed that there was a 2 hour limit for dinner (huh). As we were finishing up our 2nd round of drinks & waiting to pay our check - the hostess came over to our table & told us our 2 hours were up and we had to leave. Uhm - I’ve never had any limit placed on a dining experience. With all that being said - I understand this may be an ATL hotspot, but it leaves a lot to be said of southern hospitality and customer service. The ONLY reason I didn’t give this 1 star is because I’m trying to be objective- the server was good and the food was good but the attitude and treatment from the hostess was awful.
The food was really good and our server was great. The noise level is too loud. Also, making reservations on OT confirms a space, but we were outside in a tent with heaters. Not ok. Apparently, the booths inside are paid for and reserved. It would have been good to know that ahead of time.
It was a good experience the food could’ve been better however.
Great restaurant, not upscale remember it is a lounge. The food took a long time, and the speaker system probably could use an upgrade lol. Besides that Great energy, the food was amazing, and we had a great time.
Great food and service!
The overall experience was ok. There was a long strand of hair in my first drink which I noticed before the waiter even placed it on the table and everyone had already gotten and finished their meals 20-25mins before mine even came out lol. The waiter was nice and attentive though.
Food wasn’t seasoned as well this time however I’ve been a few times before and everything was good. It seems they’ve changed the portion sizes of everything. Also you can’t see your bill and don’t get a printed receipt so you wouldn’t know gratuity is already included. Tipped the waiter $15 on a $30 meal. Not knowing it was already included. It seemed misleading. But other than that service and ambiance were great
I always enjoy my experience at BQE. I had a great time celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. There was a mixup with my reservation and the staff was so accommodating and helpful. Food and music were awesome.
My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary here. The food was amazing and everyone was friendly. I would recommend this place to everyone.
The food & service was beyond Amazing.
I had so much fun for my birthday. The food music host and Dj was so energetic!!!! It was lit.
Total experience was amazing. Food, service and music superb. If you aren't into loud music this may not be the spot for you. It's definitely a good party spot.
I had over the amount of guest on a slow day and they acted like they were about to have an heart attack, then the section that we could have moved too was said to be reserved, but they never showed! And it was just out of order, I’ll never go bk for a birthday or dinner.
Great food! Comfort food for the soul! Great atmosphere. Great for groups for conversation, good music, and unwinding.
Second time here, but first time making reservations. Highly recommend making reservations. They were running behind opening, but staff was so darn pleasant that it made up for it. Food was scrumptious!
Half of our group didn’t get their food. The kitchen was backed up and it took 1.5 hours to get our food.
The food and atmosphere was so fun! Great music to go with amazing food. Our waiter Kerry made sure we truly enjoyed ourselves so me and my husband will definitely be coming back. Prayerfully we get Kerry as our waiter
It was great
The food was great, no vegan options. The mimosas were horrible. The service was OK. It seemed like they were not prepared for their 10am reservations, we were not let in the building until 10:10. I'm OK with them opening late and not being prepared, but for us to be the 1 of 2 customers at the time, I expected better service. I probably would not return, but I do recommend this place. It's just not my thing.
Food was good until I found a piece of plastic inside of my yams.... service was good but I didn’t like the fact that I had a reservation and we had to wait outside in the cold for an additional 25 mins because they stated they didn’t finish cleaning the restaurant in time ! Other than that the place was cool
