The BOB - Bobarino's

Mostly Bar Food. The food was just ok. The server was great. Informative and attentive. The high top table was tippy.
We stopped in on a Sunday evening before a concert... our reservation was for 5:45 and we were seated upon arrival. We sat at our table about 10 minutes before the waitress took our drink order. She was very pleasant and apologetic for the wait. After ordering dinner we waited one hour for our food. My husband ordered a Stromboli and I ordered a Bacon & chicken Sammy with fries. Not something that should take so long because the concert started at 7. My sandwich and fries were cold but still tasted ok.. his Stromboli was hot because they had actually forgotten to make it... mind you... there is just two of us ?? The manager did give us his for free and the waitress was nice... this is the only reason for the 3 stars. When we received our food we were one of 7 tables with customers... I highly doubt we will be back
The food took a long time to come which we were warned of in advance when the server took our order because of a shortage of cooks. It was the night of a show at VanAndel and it was packed which would make me think they should have scheduled more cooks. The server was not very attentive but was pleasant when he did stop by the table.
Not the greatest experience. We waited over 40 minutes for our food and it was not that busy. The food was good, other than my wife’s burnt French fries. We were a little surprised by this. We have been here before numerous times and it never took that long.
Considering we were there on a Saturday night just before the Eric Church concert, everything was good. We did wait almost 30 minutes after being seated for a waitress. We stopped another waitress and she ended up waiting on our table and she was amazing!! All in all, everything was as expected considering the craziness of the night.
The food was no where as good as I remembered. It’s been a long time since I’ve dined there and I was expecting it to be the same. It’s definitely not. The pizza tasted slightly better than frozen. It was not wood fired, as expected.
They have Pepsi products... and our server did not know his way around the liquor list. Instead of ordering my favorite bourbon, which I later learned was available, I drank water. Life goes on.
Other pizzas we ordered were fantastic. The Margarita pizza was not, it was soggy and not near enough cheese.
Good bar food
The waitress informed us the kitchen was out of gluten free crust 20 min after my nephew ordered his food. His burger showed up without his fries.
We had a 5:45pm reservation. When we arrived it was super busy and I was afraid they wouldn’t seat us right away. But they did. That was impressive that our table was ready right on time. Party of 6. An hour and a half later we still didn’t have our food! We had concert tickets across the street at Van Angel Arena. Finally they brought 1 persons order out. We thought the rest would be coming, but it never did.
We got up to leave and we’re told to stay because the manager was coming to talk to us. She didn’t. 15 minutes later we got up to leave again. We were stopped by the manager st the door. She asked us to pay for what we received. 1/6 of our order. After 2 hours of waiting, they offered us nothing! Spewed some story about it being the busiest night of the year. Van Andel Arena has events all the time. This was nothing new to them. I have never been so disappointed. We had to eat crappy food at the concert and missed the opening act.
Great pizza out on the patio
We had a reservation for 6 people at 8pm on a Saturday night. We had tickets to the 10:30 pm show at Dr. Grins and needed to be upstairs at 10. We got our first round of drinks fairly quickly, though not all drinks were remembered, and put in an appetizer order. Got those in a reasonable amount of time. Portion size was small for the price. We ordered dinner and were told that we couldn't substitute sides (mashed potatoes for fries) because it would make our food take too long. An hour later we still didn't have our meals- sandwiches, macaroni and cheese and meat loaf. We called the restaurant to speak to a manager and one never came. When we got our food (an hour and 15 mins later) it was cold and our orders were incomplete. We had to eat very quickly to make it upstairs for our 10 pm tickets. After calling two more times a manager visited our table and offered free dessert that we all declined because we needed to get to our show. She also took a percentage off of our bill because she agreed that our portion sizes were very small. We never were offered refills, nor did our waiter check on us after dropping off our food. Part way through being there the music was so loud we couldn't talk to each other without yelling. This isn't the first time we have had a problem eating at Bobarino's before a show. We will not be eating there again. It should be noted that while it was busy there was not a waiting list and there were empty tables.
We got there when it opened up and the server was really slow and unorganized. It took forever for us to get our drinks.
Food was alright, nothing too special, the service was top notch! We arrived early for our reservation and was seated right away. Our waitress was on the ball and super nice. Would definitely go there again.
Had the Chicken Marsala. Green beans were under cooked. The chicken was tough and average taste. The service was good and the BOB is a cool place but the noise levels can get a little extreme if you are trying to talk with someone.
It was 5:30 on a Friday with a big concert next door...so we knew it would be busy. We waited in a long long line even with reservations YOU still wait? A long wait for our drinks...45 minutes later our dinner arrived and then our appitizers arrived ten minutes later. The pizza is great...probably the basil pizza was the most disappointing. The other pizza we ordered was great! The Thai egg rolls were not spicy. And the pretzel with the dip...the pretzel was ROCK hard. We will dine at the Bob again, but maybe when it's less busy.
My party of 3 went to Bobarino's for a birthday celebration. The server for our table didn't seem to be in a good mood, and sort of rushed us to get in our orders. The beer cheese and pretzel appetizer is way too expensive for a plate of cold cheese and store bought frozen pretzels. Other than those two negatives, the rest of the food was great and the birthday guest had a nice time.
I arrived at 6:20 for 6:30 reservations. We were seated right away, but no one came to our table until 6:35. After that we ordered drinks and dinner (by 6:45). We each ordered one drink and one salad. Our salads didn’t arrive to our table until almost 7:30, which was the start time of our concert. We had to eat very quickly and rush out the door. We were seated at a very similar time to those around us, but they all had larger parties and managed to get out the door before us. Not sure why it took 40 minutes to prepare a Cobb salad and a grilled chicken salad on a Tuesday night. The food and the restaurant were nice and I’d try it again, but just hope service doesn’t take so long next time.
Made reservations for dinner before a show - while they were able to seat us before our reserved time, that was about the highlight. My husband ordered one of their dark beers and said it was completely flavorless. I ordered the Mac & Cheese.... disappointing to say the least. No flavor whatsoever. It was blah pasta with a pale yellow sauce - noodles weren’t even tossed in it. Service was ‘Meh’. If you want a quality craft beer experience - skip this and choose any of the other 1000000000000 Grand Rapids beer bars around, this isn’t worth the effort.
It was a great place, service was great, great food, but it was a bit loud for the two of us to have a nice conversation. We had a reservation through Open Table, but when we checked in they didn't note that even though I told them we had a reservation and they looked it up, so we got an email saying we didn't show up for our reservation. Maybe make sure the staff knows what to do when a reservation is made through Open Table to note that upon arrival.
Weekend getaway with family. Requested in advance a table away from the hustle and bustle when making the reservation. I kindly reminded upon arrival, and was placed at a table right at the main entrance with people standing table side waiting for tables. I asked about a simile booth across the room by itself, and I was told they were saving that one.??? The entire time we ate, and when we left, it sat empty?!!! Same size booth as the one that we sat in. Hostess was no very friendly. Waitress was killed with kindness with a really nice tip of 35% while deserving 10%. First time eating here, and will be last. Food was mediocre at best. Fire grilled pizza should have read...pre-made crust pizza with your choice of processed toppings. Great place to socialize and have drinks in downstairs bar area, and atmosphere was good. Otherwise I would recommend to avoid to eat here. Should have tried the steakhouse downstairs.
Very good pizza and beer
Great location down town xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxdddd
I’m sure it’s fine normally but we waited for about 45 minutes before they finally told us “Your order got put in before a 20 top table.” My only thought was, “You could’ve told us that more than 30 minutes ago instead of ignoring us every time you got near our table.”
Extremely slow service!!! And it wasn’t even busy.
Took us and our and 20 minutes to get our food. Fries were so burnt we could eat them. Took 20 minutes to get drinks.
The pizza was delicious. I'm stoked I found a good pizza joint.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Little loud but they were setting up for a band so I'm glad we were done eating before that started.
Great bread sticks and pizza! Awesome pizza dipping sauce. Had to wait awhile on my wedge salad and then was told my soup was out. Switched to a side of Mac and cheese and enjoyed it.
We checked in a little late because of traffic and they sat us right away. The issue was that we waited for close to an hour for our food and it really wasn’t that busy. We noticed lots of tables waiting for orders. The food and service was marginal and we won’t be back.
Would recommend to a friend because the variet is great with all of the levels in the building. Was disappointed that I put in a reservation and put that my preference was outdoors, but they told me the rooftop was filled up so we had to sit inside. When I passed by the rooftop there were at least two tables open for a long period of time. The food is really nothing special and the service is pretty slow. Ordered a Moscow mule and it hardly had any alcohol in it. I’ve been to The BOB a few times and loved it, but this experience was not the best. Willing to come back and try it again another time though from good previous experience.
Service and atmosphere were great! The food was ok, a bit pricey for the quality. I would recommend going during happy hour when apps are half off!
Dinner at Bobarinos and the service was very slow no fault of the server they were just busier than staff could handle.pizza was only ok. I expected more.
Food pretty good, except margherita pizza had hardly any toppings on it and service was slow. Drink glasses empty more than once and had to flag server down a few times.
Great location. The only issue was the food quality and portions on the pizzas we ordered. Toppings are cut very tiny and are sparse throughout the pizza. Taste would be very good if not for the lack of toppings provided.
I have been to this restaurant a few times and we never get consistently good service. This past time our server was really bad. She did not know anything about wine/cocktails and had to keep going to the bar to ask our questions. We could never get her attention nor would she make eye contact so we could wave to her. I was also very disappointed that the menu was changed and no longer offering the Mediterranean salad, which was delicious and why I kept coming back.
Really nice evening with great food and great service
Tried Bobarinos tonight before a symphony concert. We told the server we were going to the concert so she'd be aware of the time. We ordered three social plates as they called them and entrees of a pasta, a pizza, two sandwiches, and a burger. The appetizers came quickly and were very good. 30 minutes later we still didn't have our entrées. I asked the server when she finally came by if the food was coming because we were running out of time. She said she would check. She did not return. Finally, nearly 10 minutes later I went to her at the bar and told her to bring me my check and cancel the rest. We had to go. She said it was just coming now and could not just be canceled. I told her to box it up then. My wife left to get our tickets. The food came. They messed up my entree side. We took a couple of bites while our server brought boxes. We then boxed up and left. The server blamed it all on the kitchen saying they had messed up our pizza order, which had a single substitution of sun dried tomatoes rather than mushrooms. Apparently customizing an order is more than they can handle. What she didn't say was why she was just learning why or did was late or why she'd hadn't come right back to explain to update us when we had asked. So the bus I ate were good. It may be with different circumstances I world have enjoyed the restaurant. But beyond the terrible service, the did was nothing unique, unoriginal burgers and sandwiches, non-descript pizza, nothing with a signature, what they had was also a bit overpriced certainly for what they delivered. Probably why they were not very busy in A Saturday evening. So I won't be back.
Always love going to Bobarinos before a show in Grand Rapids!
