The Boathouse at Kits Beach
Dinner with friends from Montreal whom my husband hadn’t seen for 47 years! We wanted to give them the full Vancouver waterfront dining experience. Of course that had to be the Kits Beach location-never disappoints.
I have dined at the Boathouse four times in the last month, and it has always been a delight, with spectacular sunset views over Kits beach over the water to the distant mountains. Food was excellent and staff have always striven to make everyone in the party enjoy the experience.
I would happily return.
Wait staff did not ask about occasion.
WHY do you not have ceiling fans and enough patio umbrellas to deal with the summer sun, heat and setting sun. How many years have you had this issue?????
We’d never return. The poor waiting staff was sweating and overheating; as were all the customers. We only drank water (no alcohol will quench the thirst of trying to eat in a sauna).
Seriously? YOu must know this is an issue.
We had lunch here prior to watching Bard on the Beach. We managed to get a great table out on the deck. The staff was great and the food was excellent!
A large and spacious dining room, with a beautiful patio and an incredible view! Perfect for sunset dining. A bit noisey on busy nights, but a good energy with prompt and welcoming service. The cocktails were great, as was the wine. We each had the seafood+ 5oz steak paring, and were not disappointed. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and my pacific King Crab made the meal. It was not a cheap night out, but given the location, food + drink, and service standard I would say it was worth it and would recomend to anyone looking for seafood and a view!
Our server Daniel was first class. It’s very clear that his customer service made the experience more enjoyable. Would definitely come back! Food was great as well! Only complaint is that customers are not stopped before entering the dining area not being properly clothed ( multiple families came in with wet bathing suits and no coverups)
We always choose The Boathouse when we are attending Bard. The experience, food ,etc did not disappoint!! Only difficulty was parking as there was a Volleyball Tournament that day.
Yes it is a beautiful building right on the water...gotta love it!
Service was super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious. Love the patio and view of the beach. We were celebrating birthdays and it was no problem to bring our own cake and serve it.
Great overall experience. It can get a bit hot in the main room in the early evening and cocktails and entrees are pricey.
We had a nice table by the window and our server was very good. One of us had the poke bowl and really enjoyed it. But two of us had the day's special, a seafood gumbo, and it was disappointing. The sauce overwhelmed everything so we couldn't taste the variety of seafood at all, and because it was served in a deep bowl the rice was also saturated, so there was no relief from the spicy sauce. Even just serving it on a flat plate would have been an improvement.
Compared to last visit 9 mos ago which was excellent, this day was dull, Rainy and empty seats, maybe needs a price reduction on rainy days as the service was spotty too.
Great place for casual dinner for any number of people.
Beautiful setting. Our green salads and yam fries were tasty and nicely presented, but the fries arrived stone cold, so we had to send them back. The restaurant was quiet as it was 1:45 p.m., but after we were seated we waited at least 20 Minutes. I finally went to look for a server and someone came a few minutes after that. But when we discovered the fries were cold, I had to go find a server again to get them replaced. And then my friend went to find someone to give us the bill, well after we'd finished eating. There seemed to be plenty of staff, so I don't know why we received such inattentive service.
Enjoyed an excellent dinner and evening at a window table for two. Server Mary was attentive and helpful with the wine selection. Really appreciated that we were able to savor the evening and linger longer than we usually do.
A delightful evening shared with a very special friend.
We are regulars and live in the area so go often. It wasn't crowded so our expectation was a bit higher for service and noise level. Our waiter was good ~ didn't offer coffee or dessert though. Tried 4 dishes we had not had before and everyone enjoyed them especially the lobster risotto. Temperatures weren't hot but we weren't interested in waiting for replacements. Hope this helps. RJ
The experience was great. We will return in the future.
Nice location with beautiful view. Great service. Terrible food. Tried Ravioli stuffed with crab and lobster, very bad, frozen, mushy, terrible. Also tried halibut slow cooked, cooked perfectly but not fresh, frozen fish. Crab cake to start was ok, overall food not fresh. Saturday night July restaurant half empty At 8pm
Disappointed with the seafood pasta. Others enjoyed fish dinner. Service very good. Very noisy
This place was really fun. It is situated right on the beach, so the atmosphere was very special. We were a party of 5, and everyone raved about their dinners. Everything was very delicious. Service was outstanding.
Always an enjoyable experience.
Great food and the view - amazing!!
The service was very slow and they needed to be reminded of our requests at times. The restaurant is noisy. We couldn’t really hear ourselves unless we spoke up. The food was good but not worth the price. The view of the beach stunning.
Went for a birthday. Waiter was great. Service was very very slow. Had to wait quite a while to get each course. My cocktail which I always have at restaurants was very weak, no garnish whatsoever ever. Poor presentation. Appetizers were fair. I had a Caesar salad and there were no hearts of romaine, just the tough dark green tips of greens and dressing g was minimal. My main course was fish and chips, fish was very dark deep fried, almost on the verge of burning and chips were okay, nothing remarkable about them. We got a free piece of cake for the birthday girl which was very nice but also unremarkable. Coffee was very weak. Very high prices for the quality of the food. I am sure the high prices were due to the view, but when having fair food, we weren’t paying attention to the view.
The view is great however might be better not to sit to a table beside the window as it gets hot. It was more casual than I thought. But nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food was good. Overall I liked it.
Spectacular view. Excellent for people watching!
A great location, great service and delicious food. I would definitely recommend The Boathouse at Kits!
Sunny day out on the deck.....it was great !!
Everything was just perfect. Food, service, view. Everything.
The best view, lovely food, and Keith is an all-time all-star server!
Went for Sunday brunch never disappointed love the view and sitting area!
The nicest place to watch the sunset with a late dinner. Thw location, ambiance and food was great. I went with my teenage kids and husband and we had a lovely time. They were able to put the Copa Oro match in the Bar. We loved it.
Food was cold....all of it. I got a steak and they put two chunks of garlic butter on it. It didn’t melt at all. Kinda like when u butter toast that is cold. Vegetables were cold/warm. Wife’s fish was cold. If not for the awesome server and location I would give 1 star across the board. They took off the desserts from the bill...ironically the only course that was the right temperature.
Thank you for a lovely summer evening! My mother is hard of hearing and given the high ceilings she could hear pretty well! We loved the view, the food was delicious and our server Estella was lovely.
Lovely spot. Good service. Sadly the seafood pasta disappointing and rather tasteless. Nice ceasar caesar salad and cauliflower appy.
Food is consistently good at the Boathouse, views are lovely
Service could have been a lot more snappy... we waited nearly 15 minutes for our drinks..!?!?
This noise level made converstion difficult, although the food was quite good and the view okay. We had requested a window table but none were available. Our server was an attentive charming and effcient young woman.
it's a very beautiful place and excellent food

The Boathouse has some really good craft beer on tap; worth going for the brews and view. The food just adds to the experience. I had the spring salmon; it was great.
