Perfect for our occasion, quiet with attentive service, good food.
Lovely view of Kits Beach and English Bay from our table. The menu had dishes suitable for brunch, lunch, and share plates. A great place to take friends for some seafood and people watching. We did note that a large party near us was celebrating, so the noise level was quite high. Next time we'll ask if there are more quiet sections of the restaurant.
Bonus! This was a birthday celebration, and although our meals were quite substantial, there was an option to get a smaller portion dessert for the birthday girl which was a lovely way to end the brunch.
Ordered a steak done medium, but we were given a steak that was very well done. It was like chewing leather. I ate mine but my wife could not finish it off after having two bites. She was given a free desert
Wild maple salmon on a plank was very tasty.
our server was great. she was friendly and very attentive.
The welcoming was not as good, as the host seemed upset when we asked for a different table than the one she had ready. the restaurant was quite and there were a lot of empty tables at that time. the one we asked for just needed to get cleaned which it seemed she was annoyed to clean.
The food was generally good, jyst the Taco shells that were deep fried therefore too greased.
Great service, beautiful sunset views of kits beach, and good range of options on the menu. will come here again and again .
Mentioned it's for birthday in reservation but it didn't seem to matter.
Greatly enjoyed dinner at the Boathouse at Kits Beach. Beautiful sunset view across the water. Decor is hard so noise escalates and echoes. Food and drinks were excellent but on the pricey side as to be expected or a prime location. Overall, very enjoyable and a must go place for visitors to Vancouver looking for that ocean view and seafood dinner.
Steak was over cooked/grilled and seafood ordered was too dry, a sauce would make a difference. Nice location with with pleasant “vancouver” view.
Great location with spectacular water views. Good service and good food.
Experience is always great - even on rainy days.
Look forward to our next visit
Nice location, service always seems to be great. Food portions and sides are somewhat small considering the price paid. Good restaurant to go occasionally for mostly the view.
Pathetic excuse for a Seafood Restaurant went to celebrate an anniversary and the food was poor at best. My wife’s “Lobster Tail” dinner was charred to the point they tasted like charcoal briquettes. They remade the meal which was still sub par. My steak although nicely cooked and seasoned was like chewing on an old shoe. And at the end of the meal our waitress who was very pleasant and attentive handed us a bill for the full amount. We argued the fact the meal was not worth the price and after a pleasant visit with the manager she deducted my wife’s meal which although appreciated fell short of what we would have done had it been our establishment. Our anniversary dinner was a joke with me eating alone then getting to watch my wife eat her meal by herself. We visit Vancouver frequently but wont be visiting the Boathouse again any time soon. A message to all Seafood Restaurants Out there what the hell is with all these crappy little 4oz baby lobster tails you’re using these days that no one seems to be able to cook properly? Whatever happened to the good old days when you ordered a steak and lobster or lobster tail dinner you actually got like an 8oz tail that are a hell of a lot more tasty and easier to cook than these cheap little babies your using?!
Birthday for the niece ...would be nice if Alice of cake was offered for b days on the actual day of
H/H appies are great but a bit pricy. Same for H/H wine - 9oz house wine for 10.50!!!
Hope the expected new main menu in December will have better prices.
We had a great time at dinner for our family of four. Waiter was great and food well presented.
Friendly staff, gorgeous view and extensive menu. It is a bit pricey but worth it. Noise level a little high as it is a family restaurant.
I would definitely go back.
Nice place for a special occasion.
Kitchen service was much slower than on previous occasions, not the fault of our server, though. Other tables that had been seated after us were served before us. The location, setting and view of English Bay and Kits Beach are lovely, so the prices reflect these attractions.
Some congrats hostess station. Younger couple seated after us were seated at a table for 4 at the window We were not even though the table was open. Food was ok. Caesar salad was bland. Service was excellent.
Went for an afternoon lunch with kids. Sat right away and then waited 20 plus minutes before order was taken. Waitress seemed flustered and dropped her pen twice while taking order and the juice glass my son was drinking out of had black stuff all inside it. The waitress was kind enough to offer a free dessert which we said no to (as we had a birthday to go to with cake) and she brought it anyway. Beautiful view but overall not going back anytime soon
We initially went into the bar area and had some appetizers. They were very tasty and were greatly enjoyed. We then went into the main dining area. Although it was cold on the windows we didn’t mind. The girls were great advising us they could give us blankets if needed. We then ordered the special steak and lobster dinner. We were at first disappointed as we had to ask for bread. Then when the meal came we were truly disappointed. The steak was very fatty...very poor quality (although cooked perfectly) and the lobster was rubbery. It was just a disappointment. My husband had also mentioned it was my birthday when booking reservations and there was no mention of this. We were disappointed in our evening and if we ever returned would only return for happy hour if that.
Food was awesome. Service was a bit slow.
Very beautiful view, but very expensive and the vegan burger is not good.
Restaurant is very nice. Location and view is great.
Food: Coconut shrimp and oysters very good. Nice to have bread included. Drinks we had Caesar and mojito. Caesar was ok/good. Mojito was too sweet. Entrees we had seafood chop salad and Ravioli. Chop salad was bad, the salmon was so overcooked and salad was very bland. Ravioli was very good, quite rich but so much better than the salad.
Service: very bad, our server would ask us about food just took orders.
The shrimp was terrible the share platter was a huge bowl of gross dip surrounded by deep fried bar food
But the worst was the waiter REEKED of cigarettes
Our bill was over $200 tiny portions as well
Definately will never go back!!
We had a wonderful experience at the Boathouse! Friendly staff, great fine food and lovely view!
The view is beautiful, the food isn’t worth the price . Next time I have company in town I’ll take them to blue water cafe for food , and take them somewhere after for a view
Very loud - bad acoustics. Everyone has to shout to be heard. The food was decent, not exceptional. Service was good. We fortunately got seated just as the sun was going down, but while we were waiting for our table it was difficult because the sun was shining directly in the windows and very glaring. So if you go before sunset, wear sunglasses. They don't have shades on the windows, as the view is the selling point. It was fine once the sun went down, still light enough to see the view.
I always enjoy going to the Boathouse as it is a beautiful venue with the big glass windows facing the beach and mountains offering a spectacular view of our city. It's also spacious so guests don't feel cramped at their tables. The servers are friendly and accommodating.
The Boathouse at Kits Beach is an awesome restaurant. It brings our West Coast lifestyle to your dinner table. This time we had a visitor from Sendai Japan joining us who loved the location, the ambiance and of course, the service (Marita) and the food and wine.
A great location for my family and our guest, a senior, who loved the location and the care given to her and us, in general. Thanks Boathouse staff - and esp. to our server - whose name I have forgotten, but who was exceptional. Please look her up from our meal on Sunday night (table of 5 and one senior with a walker) and commend her for a job well done.
Service was top notch! Seating was awkward as it felt we were having dinner with 2 other families. Food was excellent. Had the filet mignon and the potatoes were amazing. It was very loud but overall a great time.
Very noisy place, Friday night, maybe other days better. Food so so, nothing special, would not go back. Cafeteria quality
great location and great idea to give a reduced starter to Bard goers
Will come again next year and probably before
It's very nice view. The steak and the lobster deal is really good 👍🏻and it tastes great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Service was poor, generally inattentive. Dirty appetizer plates remained on the table until after our departure. Had to refill our own wine glasses and never got asked if we wanted dessert. Empty dinner plates only picked up when we finally decided to request the check so we could leave. Week night birthday celebration where the food was okay but where the staff made it not worthwhile.
Salmon was over cooked and dry
