The location was not open when we arrived.

Would have loved to review this restaurant -- but arrived there on Saturday night to find restaurant had closed for the season. Open Table should have known this...

Well, neither the restaurant nor OpenTable published the fact that they have CLOSED for the season. We arrived for dinner only to find the building completely dark. Marketing and communication was EXTREMELY disappointing.

Food was marginal; two of three entrees were wrong; a large family party were letting their toddlers run and scream making it difficult to talk. And didn't take Discover - overall not a hit.

We arrived and we were given a clean table. The service was okay and the menu a bit light on quality. Unfortunately the food did not come up to standards we expected but acceptable. The restaurant in fairness was coming to the end of a long day of a holiday weekend and could have been stretched in the kitchen.

Service was awful. Food was not flavorful. I would not recommend to anyone.

great variations of food on the menu....ie: onion rings, cape cobb salad. a little short on the wine pour.
would definitely return

Lobster bisque was very good. Lobster Mac and cheese was over cooked and dry without any cheese. Mahi Mini tacos were very good with a kick, but they didn't drain the salsa (or it was just very watery) making it a mess to eat and leaving my plate full of juice.

Great server who was patient with our group. The scallop roll and fish tacos were great! The drink list was fun and enjoyed the "hot and dirty" martini.

Surprised that the restaurant was empty for week day dinner. The staff indicated that they were busy during lunch. New owners and things seem to be in transition still. Staff was nice. Soups were tasty. Scallop roll was very good. Cod was ok. Hopefully, things will improve.

Web menu didn't match the actual restaurant menu. Web site is very deceiving. More of a sports bar/pub. Outdoor seating is picnic tables. Service was fine. Food prepared correctly, although the lobster bisque left a lot to be desired, especially in this town.

Impeccable service and delicious food. The seafood chowder and lobster risotto was amazing.

we were there from 6;30 to 8pm - hardly anyone there - very depressing - amazed it is on OPEN TABLE how ever ,our waitress Irish Marie was very cute

I don't think I have ever wrote a negative review such as this is going to be, but the Boatyard offers very little. As stated the Boatyard has a nautical themed ambience, which is fine. The climate was uncomfortablably warm. The food which is American fare was less than mediocre. The bright spot was the young waiter visiting from Ireland.

Excellent waite staff. Moderate priced for Newport.

very disappointing, great waiter but the food and the entire feel of the place was bad.

First time visiting. We had 8 people. Calamari was very good, but the muscles were not too good. Overall, everyone seemed satisfied with the entrees but the french fries on the side were pretty lame. Lobster BLT was solid, halibut was a bit overcooked. Very nice open atomosphere, easy walk to all the fun spot in town.

We where looking for a nice seafood restaurant in the heart of NewPort RI. What we found was a quiet, not too crowded,overpriced joint . Not near the water,and not very good overall. Not surprised it closed permanetly.

Availability to accommodate a party of 7 on a lovely Sunday evening after URI graduation held 1/2 hour away should have been a clue as to how well received this place is by locals but the space was welcoming and the better-than-average draft beer selection kept us there. Appetizers were ok (avocado onion rings, deviled eggs, Brie) but the lobster bisque was inedible and likely from a can. The rest of the menu was completely uninspired. You would never have known you were eating dockside given the complete lack of fresh seafood options. In fact, nothing much was fresh-seafood or otherwise. Everyone ordered entrees and none were raved about, about half receiving 'it's fine' while others 'terrible'. The server was nice but there was no saving the day. Won't be back again, which I am sure is expected by ownership given the lack of attention to the menu/food. Screams sucker tourist business. Cannot recommend. What a missed opportunity as the space & location are really great.

Was very disappointed. I order the Lobster Mac And Cheese and my date ordered the chicken stir-fry. I don't think we ordered appetizers because we had a big lunch that day.
We waited so long for the food I was joking with my date that they must be hatching the chickens from the eggs and diving in the ocean for the lobster. After a long wait, the food came. My dates stir-fry was over seasoned with soy sauce giving it a very salty taste and my Mac And Cheese was dry in the area where there wasn't any cheese. Yes, there actually wasn't enough cheese in my meal to cover all the macaroni.
Newport has a lot of excellent places to eat, unfortunately this wasn't one of them.

Greeted promptly and seated. Our waiter, Joshua, was very friendly and courteous. I had the crabcakes for an appetizer and they were DELISH! Had the filet mignon and it was AWESOME. Was sad to see how quiet it was, but then again it was a Monday night in early May. Will definitely be back when we return to Newport.

Buffet was overpriced. The place looks like a warehouse. Service was really bad, although they added a 20% tip due to the party size. The food was just ok. And they ran out of many items in he buffet. I wouldn't go back.

A group of us went to The Boat Yard for the Mother's Day Brunch Buffett and it was some of the best food that we've ever eaten. Everything was delicious and the service was great! I've never been here to order off of the regular menu, but will definitely be back to give it a try.

We had dinner at their sister restaurant, Alden Park, last weekend so were looking forward to a similar experience. The atmosphere was kind of casual for a restaurant with "fine dining" prices. I had the filet mignon, medium... It was barely dead. The horseradish mashed potatoes were good but way too much horseradish. My husband and our friend enjoyed their meals, but my friend sent her cape Cobb salad back. She said the lobster on top was slimy and mushy. Given that it's a new restaurant, I'd try it again. Service was excellent.

The food was good but the service was lacking. Waiter was very nice and professional but the delivery of food untimely. The three lobster salads (main course) came 10 minutes after the rest of the meals. Everything got cold while politely waiting. We wouldn't rush back here again.

We ate there with our teens on a Saturday night. The place was really noisy and much more suited to having drinks with friends rather than a family dinner. The food was ok, the fries were good but not a memorable meal or a place we can't wait to go again. I can see having fun there when the outside seating is available and you just want to have drinks and apps with friends.

Had Easter Brunch at The Boat Yard and the food was excellent, service outstanding and an overall very nice place. I will definitely go back in the warm weather and enjoy the outside seating as well!!!
