Had a reservation and had to wait 30 minutes beyond our reservation time. Three quarters of the entrees on the menu were unavailable and they ran out of iceberg lettuce.
I understand that they are closing but the waiter we had was definitely ill prepared for the event this evening. The waitress on the other hand was fantastic. Was not offered any of the special promotions for the evening. We love this place and this was really not how we wanted to remember it
Great place! Owners did their employees wrong by closing on such short notice. The employees shared this with us when we went for our last meal.
The food at Blue Star was excellent as usual. The calamari was sweet and soft. The pork cheeks were soft and had an wonderful flavor with the risotto. My only suggestion is to review the ever changing menu on the web before you make your reservation. Enjoy!
It was a very enjoyable evening, although it was a bit warm in the dining room...,it was well worth the drive from Denver
Blue Star is amazing! The food was very inventive! We made a reservation for one night and decided to go the following night too because we enjoyed it that much. We brought friends the second night and they really liked it too. The wait staff and owner were very friendly and attentive. They even made shrimp scampi for my husband and it wasn't on the menu. It's quiet and cute inside. Everything we ate was excellent! It's by far the best restaurant in Colorado Springs!
Delicious!
Disappointing menu. The menu was very limited. Most entrees included kale. Service was excellent.
Creative and uniquely delicious cuisine, locally sourced. Wine selection is awesome. Service was friendly and impeccable. We just relocated to the area and are thrilled to find this wonderful place right in our neighborhood!
A huge disappointment. My wife and I were visiting from Denver and saw this as one of the top rated places in Colorado Springs. I have a hard time coming up with positives. The waiter seemed confused and shut down - we actually had the hostess come over a few times and check on us. Wine list was not well explained or thought out. The menu was just strange - a large assortment with no common theme, other than none of it was particularly appealing. It was pretty expensive, but nothing crazy. I 100% will not go back or recommend. Get it together Colorado Springs!
Food and service were spot on in every way. Very quiet on a summer night. Still the best in the Springs!
Food was great, although they were out of 2 of the dishes we ordered. But the replacements were yummy as well. Wonderful ambiance. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Terrific, dependable and great, creative cuisine with a huge wine list. This is my go-to place in Colorado Springs. The bar area is fun and lively. The dining room is perfect for a business dinner or special occasions. Near some outstanding and unique breweries, just outside of downtown. I will look forward to returning here soon!
We both had the special of the evening and both raved about the creative combinations of flavors- honey flavored steak and arugula pistou under a nice piece of fish.
The soup of the day was salmon chowder and I loved it.
It was a lovely anniversary dinner. We will return.
We had a wonderful night and the food was fabulous. We plan to go back and take friends with us.
Disappointed in quality of food. We're out of several items and we were first ones in restaurant. We orderd a $60 bottle of wine and server asked if she could take some for staff to try. What! For the $300 cost of dinner, certainly could have been much better overall.
My husband had the lamb chops and I had the duck, we both had zero complaints. After beginning the meal with an appetizer and cocktail and ending with dessert and coffee it was one of the most satisfying meals we've ever had.
Excellent service and delicious food! LOVED the port flight!! We will certainly be back!!!
Wine cellar was a treat to dine in. Very attentive and friendly service. Food outstanding. Will be back for sure.
Food was great and the Service was excellent will go there again
Outstanding dinner, very friendly staff.
Great place to take that special someone. The Duck and Salmon were very enjoyable. The waitress did a wonderful job presenting our meals and explaining the menu.
Very good food and perfect to celebrate a CC graduate
Very good restaurant. The bar looked like fun, too. The menu had pretty high prices, oh well! The menu was fancy. The place didn't look fancy, which is fine.
Wonderful, we will be going back soon.
Meeting friends for a casual supper. Chose the dining room as it's quieter. The drinks (wine, beer, cocktail) were excellent. The food was superb, from appetizers to dessert. Highly recommended, creative and tasty.
Food was generally good. The cheese platter was wonderful and the duck confit app also. Strawberry balsamic salad was good but we needed to request some additional dressing.
The duck entree was a bit tough but the sauce and sides were delicious. The sablefish entree sounded so promising but ended up being about 5 bites of fish that was hidden in burnt bacon... might as well have not need fish at all. Too bad because the polenta under it was fantastic
We were there for 3 hours. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't worth the money. The waiter was awesome but it took a really long time for the actual dinner to come out that we almost left. It wasn't even that busy and we had a reservation.
We had a very nice, quiet and relaxed meal. The food was outstanding, and the service exceptional! An excellent choice all the way around!
I wish I had known that making a reservation meant that you were in the "fancy" room. (The restaurant has two separate areas with different menus. One is more casual and less expensive. The room for reservations has a pretty pricy menu (entrees in the $30's). We were the only people in that room and that was a little weird. The food did not live up to the price. It was OK, but not great. I would try the other room. The art and decor were quite nice.
Wine list is extensive - but missing great CA wines and no descriptions to help decide. There was a sommallier did help pick out a French wine. Nice fresh french bread. One had baby kale Caesar salad and one had a fresh strawberry and feta salad since the peach/feta was off the menu. Both were good. One of the specials was veal with truffle sauce. The veal was 'okay' but it was disappointing that it was served with a glop of plain ordinary and boring tasting mashed potatoes. The seared duck breasts was cooked nicely and quite tasty.
Nice cocktail list that was fun to try their own crafted cocktails.
Would go again.
Great experience. Service was impeccable, helpful, and engaging. Food beat my high expectations!
First place we go to when we are in Colorado Springs. It has unique dishes and a great wine list. Staff is attentive.
I ordered the Duck Breast and my husband ordered the steak special. The meat was
cooked to the right temperature, unfortunately the food was luke warm.
The service was very good.
Blue Star is always a good experience. I made a reservation for Saturday as it was my Girl friend's birthday. Great service, food and wine.
Overall, a disappointing experience. Ran out of special entree (filet mignon) (7:45 pm reservation) and second choice (scallops). Settled for seared Alamosa bass which had the texture of a shoe. They did comp that entree. Appetizers (soup and salads) were excellent. Extensive wine list but too many options (and expensive). Really did not live up to expectations.
Love Blue Star! Perfect meal before the Weekend of Jazz performance. The duck with smoked mashed potatoes is still on my mind!
A great find in Colorado Springs. I'm sure we'll be back.
We went for our anniversary! It was excellent! Food was great! Wine and drinks were great!! And service was awesome!!! Our server, Jamie was so sweet and took great care of us!!! We will definitely be back!!!!
Food wonderful as usual. Service was very good. Noise level could be better. We were sitting by door between both restaurants and food was constantly being going back and forth; seemed distracting for a fine dining experience.
There was a long gap between the starter and entree and when the entrees finally arrived, one was too cold to eat. It was replaced but we did not get to eat together as a result. It also took a while to get dessert. While the quality (if not the temperature) of the starter and entrees was good, the desserts were lacking in flavor. I think we hit a bad night as it seems the restaurant was busier than they expected.
