   New Years the day before. The food is on the level of a Peter Shields. Very tasty and presented in a very artful way. Alex our waitress was super great and so professional in her descriptions of every single detail. She is a real asset. The food is amazing . My only complaint is that the soup portion is so small and really not worth the price at that size. Also I wish there was more seafood or fish on the menu. Only scallops which I had and they were delicious, definitely not everyday dining st those prices but extremely high quality. I agree with the other reviewer that the bread was amazing and worth coming back for. The inn is an original Victorian house with very cool period furniture and lighting fixtures . A lovely Cape May experience we will repeat again soon.

   We really enjoyed our meal. The room was a little too quiet at first for our 7:00 reservation, but, then as the room filled up it had a nice ambiance. Our specific waitress did not give a great description of the specials or other questions about the food-- but, the other wait staff seemed GREAT with their descriptions, so, try to get one one them:) Food was excellent, fresh, interesting nice sized portions that were not overwhelming. It was a great place for our wedding anniversary dinner. The BYO status REALLY brought the check down to something VERY REASONABLE for the great quality food in a lovely environment.

   The Blue Rose has an outstanding menu with very well prepared food. This is a white linen restaurant, worth a special occasion. The prices are a bit high, but they are consistent with every other good restaurant in this resort town. We felt that the service and the food provided very good value. We spend time in the Cape May area each summer and will certainly be back to the Blue Rose.

    We ran away to Cape May to escape the post season craziness, and we knew that The Blue Rose would be our dining destination. We had been there before and actually had the pleasure of a lesson with the chef on one of his dishes in the kitchen. Before talking about the menu, I have to comment on one of the reviews I read before we got there. The reviewer said that the restaurant needed an upgrade. I really had to smile, you go to Victorian Cape May, circa 1800, for dinner and say that your ginger bread restaurant needs an upgrade. What!? I don't think so. The bread is some of the best that I have tasted. We opted for the teres major cooked rare. I consider myself somewhat the foodie, but I had to look this cut of beef up. It is a lean shoulder cut that is full of flavor served with fingerling potatoes and creamed spinach.An excellent chimmichuri sauce accompanied the meat. Our server was excellent, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The surrounding tables pronounced their dishes excellent also. The decor is not "upgraded" and I hope it never will be, you can hear the rustle of crinoline if you listen closely. Finished the meal with The Blue Rose's signature lemon doughnuts with coffee maple ice cream. An eloquent and delicious experience no matter when you go.

    The Blue Rose is an amazing restaurant fit right in the heart of Cape May. Down the street of the Washington street mall nestles a baby blue bed and breakfast that features a built in restaurant. Come stay in this Victorian home the offers tea time pastries and dinner for guests as well as its neighbors. Chef Michael has an intelligent modern creative and exquisite taste for layers of flavor. To their house made bread served warm to each table (that is not basic by any means) to the soufflé offered at dessert that takes 25 min just to prepare. Order in advance is my opinion :) The Restaurant is built off a farm to table design, meaning as much produce and proteins that he can attain as close to his hometown as possible. From Farm raised cattle to fresh produce grown right in the Jersey soil’s have never tasted so good. Michael was our server and he was very educated about the menu and answered all my family’s questions as I brought them to a more sophisticated restaurant then there were used to. Polite, speedy, but not to be rushed. Our evening was amazing . The duck confit raviolis were my absolute favorite and a must try. Coffee to finish the evening came in our own french press and the house blend is to die for. Drink it black or add your cream and sugar, but either way. Blue Rose you are a gemstone to Cape May and I wish you many successful years to come and can’t wait to come back and see what amazing foods you create next. Thankyou to the whole team who makes our foodie selves happy! “Stay hungry my friends!” p.s it’s BYOB! But they do sell local wines by the bottle.

    We were not pleased with the Christmas Eve prix fix dinner. It was $75 per person, which I didn’t know about until we sat down. But hey, it’s Christmas Eve and we were there. Dinner started out with an amuse bouche. It was a crostini smeared with a lot of jam and a few small flecks of goat cheese and smoked duck. All we could taste was the jam. What was worse was that two of us were served it immediately while the other two people in our party waited at least ten minutes for theirs. And the wait staff walked by us many times without noticing. I had a appetizer of duck agnolotti. The filling was nice but the house made pasta was hard and waxy. The parsnip soup was nice. I had the scallops for dinner. Everyone else got the steak. My scallops were very good and the others enjoyed their steak. Unfortunately, two of us were served our entrees first and it took another five minutes for the others to get theirs. Really? It was a full restaurant but they should have been able to control how dishes leave the kitchen. I had the panna cotta for dessert. It was delicious. The cheesecake was fine. All in all, I won’t be back during a holiday. We’ve have very good meals there before without these problems.

    If you love a old fashioned kind of place to eat, look no further. The historical ambience of Cape May is alive and well at the Blue Rose Inn. Our server, Alex, was incredibly thorough with the presentation and information relating to the menu. Not only that but she was very kind and made my wife and I feel right at home. The local wine was pretty good too!

    We were celebrating our 37 th Anniversary ! We absolutely love Cape May but had never tried the Blue Rose ! Won’t have to do that again ! Enough said , there are far too many first class restaurants in that beautiful town ! This isn’t one of them !

    We were visiting cape may New Jersey for the weekend to enjoy the Christmas immense and selected this restaurant for dinner. This was the first time we have been there and we will definitely be going back. Everything was great about our dining experience especially the ambience of the Victorian home/restaurant.     I had the opportunity to dine at the Blue Rose this past Friday. The service is always exceptional, but this Friday, we were entertained table side by the owner, who enlightened us on a bit of Cape May History. What a delightful evening. And much needed. The food, was incredible. The Chef is an artist and the incredible mix of tastes and textures - was for me- OMG! I will look forward when I can return. When in Cape May, make sure you add the Blue Rose to your list and bring with you your favorite beverage. BYOB and, than enjoy - a for sure- amazing evening.

    Had Thanksgiving dinner. Was very quiet.Decor was historic. Service was great. Our server, Tiffany, was attentive but not hovering. Funny, loved my jokes, knew the food, pleasant to the eyes, all in all great. The other staff was just as great. Food was tasty, artfully and colorfully presented. Portions to me were a little small, however over-eating on Turkey day is far too common. Eating at The Blue Rose Inn is what I wanted for a Thanksgiving dinner in Cape May.     Always enjoy our meal here! Great service, ambiance & food! They change their menu up seasonally, and we’re always surprised at the unexpected ingredients & how tasty the dishes are! Like Rye Gnocchi, or Bay Leaf ice cream. Would never have placed those ingredients in those dishes, but they did & it was delicious!

    We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. My mother ordered the chef's tasting menu, I had the Garden menu, and my brother ordered off the ala carte menu. I enjoyed each course and found the serving size to be perfect, not too large to be overwhelming (though I still could not finish my risotto). My brother also enjoyed his appetizer, entree and dessert (the duck ravioli, short ribs [that were tender] and a neat take on chocolate chip mint ice cream). My mother wasn't totally thrilled with the steak tartare, but my brother happily finished that course for her. She loved her main course which was bay scallops. The restaurant is BYOB so we brought our own wine. We thought the staff was exceptional - the pacing of the delivery of the courses was right on target - and appreciated the restaurant owner stopping by and chatting with the table. The house bread was outstanding - warm, moist and delicious (contained herbs and cheese).

    How many different ways can one say sensational?! The cuisine is very creative with perfect ingredients prepared flawlessly! The mussels were fantastic as an appetizer and the beef duo was unbelievably superb. Of course, the donuts for dessert were a perfect ending to a magnificent dining experience. We were fortunate to have the best server in Cape May, Michael, to guide us through a wonderful journey.

    We have been to Cape May several times and love staying at B&B’s! The Blue Rose has the most incredible food! Very romantic! We stayed here as well this time around and we would highly recommend for a romantic stay for couples! Very close to walk as well!

    My husband and I had dinner here while on vacation to celebrate our anniversary. This was hands-down, one of the best meals we ever had. The Inn was very charming with blue accents and beautiful stained glass windows. Michael, our waiter, was extremely knowledgeable and offered several suggestions from the menu. We started with a bottle of Riesling, and the house bread. This bread was absolutely delicious; it was warm and soft with a light crispy crust. Honestly, we would go back just for this bread. I had the parsnip bisque and my husband had the mussels as a first course. Both were presented beautifully and had so much flavor. For the second course, I had the short ribs and my husband had the teres major. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and we ate every last bite. For dessert, we had the sorbet and the ginger cake with bay leaf ice cream. Every single dish we had was absolutely perfect with such balanced flavors, and the customer service was impeccable.     Our evening at the Blue Rose restaurant was lovely. The weather was perfect and we were able to dine on the porch which added to the ambiance. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and how each dish was prepared and shared many of the items descriptions with us to help us choose. The food was extremely good.
