About The Blue Pig Tavern
The Blue Pig Tavern serves American cuisine-nostalgic, simple and fresh. Executive Chef Jeremy Einhorn has implemented a delicious farm-to-table menu featuring fresh produce, herbs and eggs from our very own Beach Plum Farm, located less than 2 miles from the restaurant!
In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.

The Blue Pig Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Breakfast this morning and spec was California Benedict! Excellent!
Julie our server was fun, energetic and efficient! Excellent service !!
Hostess sat us immediately! Wonderful!
Fruit bowl was delish! Nice and sweet! Grits were very nice and served excelled!
Only con would be those old rickety ice cream pallor chairs on the porch ! And set with the deuces in the dining room! Time for a change! Not comfortable and even scary!
I have dined at BP several times and this time was disappointed in the special entrees . From a price point they were very overpriced. My scallops were very good but if all you are serving is 3 scallops the cost should never be over 35.00. 4-5 scallops is reasonable or lower the price. My partner had the ribbeye and was not cooked hot enough and not much flavor. Maybe lunch is a better option
I came to the Blue Pig for the first time over the summer and loved it. Came back with my husband while on our mini honeymoon, and it was just as good! I never get the same meal twice, but their roasted half-chicken is so amazing, I had to get it a second time! Salad, both meals and dessert were all awesome and our waitress was super sweet! They also have a great selection of beer, wine & cocktails! My only complaint is that it was packed, and we were put in a corner in VERY tight quarters. It was a little uncomfortable, but otherwise, a very enjoyable experience!
This was a pre wedding breakfast with friends. The farm to table menu is excellent. We had the breakfast sandwiches, healthy start and eggs and bacon. The cappuccino was excellent. It was available also in decaf. The service was good but we waited a bit for the check. They need to have a little more staff on board for a Saturday morning
We will definitely be back
Have been going here since they opened. Food is always delicious, but service is mixed. We had to ask several times for water refills, and waited over an hour for brunch. We arrived at 11:30 and were not served until 1pm. It wasn't even that busy...
When the food arrived, a side of pumpkin pancakes we ordered we ice cold. We asked for fresh ones... 15 minutes later they were delivered but we were done with most of the rest of our food. A bit disappointing given the cost, and how beautiful the ambiance is here. They need better management!
Love the BP. The food and service is consistently very good. We were seated on time which is another reason we return every year. The crab cakes were excellent (MUCH better than the crab cakes at the Ebbitt Room). Overall we ate at the BP 3 times over the week: dinner, lunch and breakfast and all were fantastic. The fried haddock is always the best. The breakfast was also very good, the croissant sandwich is enough for two portions, it was great as a left over the next day. The breakfast menu has great selections. Will be returning!
My wife and I have eaten at the Blue Pig Tavern several times over the years and have never been disappointed. Nestled within Congress Hall, the Blue Pig is a great place to have dinner, whether you're staying at the hotel or not. They have a great selection of dishes to fit everyone's palate. And they also have an awesome breakfast as well!
Was an easy decision to eat at The Blue Pig after reading previous reviews and knowing that it was farm to table ingredients. I love the ambience of the outside but we should of sat inside the night we went. It was very breezy and as night fell we had minimal light to feel comfortable with. The candle at the table was just not enough and we sat near the building so there were not lights above us.
Our food was great. Scallops cooked to perfection. Side dishes fresh and tasty.
We had a very nice waitress and it did seem that all the waiters and waitresses were helping each other. We like to see that.
Service was very slow, eggs were not cooked properly, bacon was inedible due to being so fatty, and pancakes were very overlooked and hard. Very disappointing! We had to move our table from the porch to outside because of screaming children. We won't go back.
I struggled with this as the food was great and loved the ambiance but service was terrible. Had to hunt people down just to get some water. Was told there was a 45 min wait yet half the tables outside were open and yet had dirty dishes on them indicating they had been sitting free but hadn't been cleared. The kicker- went on OpenTable and got a reservation immediately and was seated even though they told me it would be 45 mins. So we got to skip in front of several people in front of us thanks to OpenTable
Made reservations for 6 people there were plenty of open tables and they stuck us at the front doorway where there was tons of people walking by. Tables were dirty felt like we were eating in a subway. Cafeteria. When I ask if we could be moved the girl at the front desk said no all tables where full. She wasn't too pleasent and couldn't be bothered. At the end of our meal those tables were empty. When I asked her why she could move us she said she miss understood. Didn't even say sorry. Food was just ok. Pita chips not fresh and rest of our food was Luke warm. Very disappointing experience. They take advantage as this is a tourist trap!
Enjoyed dinner here on the outside patio with a group of friends. Overall the food was good and the portions were decent. I ordered salmon. While the fish was good I didn't enjoy the accompanying vegetables. It included eggplant which didn't quite match the description. It was in a pesto sauce which was overpowering and oily.
The ambience was nice but the music from the speakers in the hedges was right behind us and was a bit too loud.
No complaints about the service.
We have always enjoyed dining here and took friends on Monday evening. 3 of the 4 people at the table said that the meal was just "ok." My husband and a friend were really disappointed in the meatloaf. I hope that the quality of the food is not going downhill, as the prices are not cheap.
