The Blue Pig Tavern
In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.
Valentine’s Day dinner with my wife. We had a great server and the food was cooked perfectly. We have dined here before and every time they meet expectations. We love it here!
Perfect from start to finish. Our server was very cordial and very attentive! We both loved the deviled egg appetizer and my special lady friend said her salmon was awesome. My lobster scampi was amazing as was the triple chocolate mousse dessert. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!
The service was great. The overall ambiance was good, but was too dark to read the menu without using a flashlight. It was nice and quiet. The food was good, but overpriced.
Everything was great...except that it was just too too dark to see the menu!!
Valentines Day menu was on point! "Farm to table" concept brings fresh items to the menu. The deviled eggs appetizer was very good! Our server was so nice! All staff is very friendly. Romantic and cozy ambience. We will most likely be back!!
Let me say first that we live in town. Understand that this is a hotel restaurant that is trying to reach out into a fabulous restaurant scene in Cape May.
I'm surprised that the reviews are so good for this place. It's not awful, but the primary plus is that it's convenient, especially when other places are closed for the season. We felt that the food was generally nice, but expensive for what we got. The menu is limited, but again, they get points for convenience and for the mere act of being open. Our server was engaging and attentive, but it took forever to get a side (a baked potato!) replaced with one that was thoroughly cooked, and we ended up finishing dinner before the side was delivered.
We will probably go there again some time, but for special dinners, there are probably more special choices, and we will probably stick with burgers and beer because I think that's what this place does best.
Loved it and the food was delicious! We went on a Wednesday and the blue pig came out to greet everyone. The atmosphere was very nice.
Always a great choice. Homerun on all fronts. Yum.
Excellent service from Flossy
Very personable and accommodating
Lobster for two was magnificent
Our request to sit by the fire was honored
We are locals and gather to eat at the Blue Pig mostly in the off season to avoid crowds. It is a wonderful spot for a special meal.
The food was delicious! I had heard blue pig was great for brunch and was looking forward to it! Our server was very nice. However definitely less than thrilled with host station who was not on their game when it came to seating us. We had a reservation, we were on time, had checked in with them and told 5 mins - but then a number of folks (same party and various different party sizes) kept getting seated before us. We were patient but it kept happening. They definitely lost sight of us (25 mins went by) and there were too many different folks manning the station to notice. we almost left as a result but went up finally to ask again and were seated shortly after.
Great service, very good food, nice ambiance
My friend and I had a wonderful dining experience at the Blue Pig. Her Grilled Marinated Chicken was cooked to her high standards of perfection while my Congressional Crab Cake was one of the best I have ever enjoyed. The waitstaff was excellent, anticipating our needs without being intrusive. Indeed, Lilly--I believe that was the name of our server--was personable, charming and attentive, which helped make the evening special. We will, of course, return to the Blue Pig.
We always enjoy dinners at the Blue Pig. Staff is courteous and professional and the food is exceptional.
Salmon was delicious as was the flat iron steak. We enjoyed our dinner very much. Service very good. We would come back
Perfect evening: seated by the fireplace with a great server, Jason, set the tone for a really special birthday dinner amongst friends! The revamped chicken dish was better than before!
We had breakfast at the Blue Pig. Everything was good. Service was great and we were able to dine on the closed in porch so the view of outside was very nice.
Had the Steak and Cake. Outstanding ! Btw - had cocktails in the lobby with friends earlier. Corey the bartender is great - excellent service and top Manhattans
Food was delicious but our server was awful! She took our order and she never came back until giving us the check. Had to ask another server in area for spoons for our tea and coffee. And again for syrup. We actually thought she was just taking orders and nothing else.
Wonderfully consistent and especially warm and cozy during the winter months. The fireplace is always going in the main dining room adding a special ambience to breakfast, lunch or dinner. We love the addition of the Beach Plum chopped salad to the menu and how this restaurant supports its farm which is about 5 minutes away. The shrimp addition was very generous. The chicken soup, again with ingredients from the farm, is consistently delicious and one can't beat the eggs they use in their breakfast options, yep, straight from the farm. We dine here at least monthly through the year and recommend this restaurant.
So happy to give the Blue Pig a good review. My wife and I like a quiet place and even though the Brown Room was closed, Blue Pig was quiet. Of course, on Sunday night in the dead of winter, one might expect that. Clam chowder, salad, trout and spaghetti all excellent.
Food was absolutely wonderful - unique combinations and tastes and really fresh!
Food was excellent as usual. Waiter was very attentive despite being clearly understaffed. He was running around trying to manage multiple tables. Reservations for 7 seated at 7:40. We will be back but hopefully will be better staffed. Nice touch on the birthday add on for desert.
We are regulars go here often, especially in the winter. Overall the food is fine mid-level fare, and sometimes it's very good. It's also one of the only places to eat at in the winter. Our main problem is we've been looking at the same menu for years. It would be so nice if the management would give it an overhaul as we're getting tired of seeing the same exact dishes year after year. There are always a couple specials, but they're very limited. Also, the menus are HUGE but the print is tiny and very difficult to read, even with glasses. Please consider making it large enough for normal people to read.
We enjoyed everything!! It was lovely to sit by the fire on a chilly evening, too!! We will be back!!
I ordered the avocado toast it was very good but there was only a half of a slice of bread and some lettuce I think there should’ve been an entire sandwich for the price
Blue Pig can often be hit or miss. Our most recent brunch was kind of a miss. We chose the room with the fire place for ambiance and warmth and they never lit it. The room was cold and just not enjoyable. We were also there without too many people
Always very good, starting with our server Alyssa and the other servers. The ambiance and of course the food are also very good. See you again in a few weeks.
The Blue Pig is a Cape May staple. Food is always delicious and service with a smile. Tried the crab Louie salad for the first time and I’m hooked. It was DELICIOUS
Natasha gave us superb service
Been going for yrs had to send a glass of wine back glass was dirty.Great food
Delicious food and excellent service from our waitress and the entire wait staff
Enjoyed an early New Year's Eve celebration with brunch at the Blue Pig. It was very busy and decorated very beautifully for the holidays. Food and service was excellent as always. Dining at the Blue Pig never disappoints.
Not overly impressed with this place. The girls at the front were not very excited to see us coming - they definitely need some training on customer service. The waitress is good and the food was good, just need to improve customer service
New Year’s Eve eve
Excellent recommend highly
Service slow even when not crowded
Food was Luke warm when served which indicates it sat waiting to be served
Other great choices in Cape May that I would consider before returning
Went for quick simple bite. Food was OK but nothing special and a little pricey with drinks. Very Loud and tight seating. Bar area was a zoo.
Food not worth the price. Wanted to try something outside our usual spots.
