The Blue Pig Tavern
In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.

Bring your sweetheart in for a romantic celebration on Valentine's Day at the Blue Pig Tavern. We will be offering a $54 Three Course Prix Fixe menu and a $59 Four Course Prix Fixe menu, along with our full ala carte menu throughout Valentine's Day weekend. Reservations are highly recommended.

I had scallop pot pie and beach plum salad. Both were very good. Dining partner had cream of mushroom soup and crab cake appetizer. Also good, although the crab cake is still served on a greasy, inedible hard puck that’s supposed to be a brioche “crouton.” I was hoping that after the latest closing we’d see a revamped menu, but no. Same as the past ten years. We realized that we ordered the same exact items we did the last time we were here. There are many things we don’t order because we haven’t enjoyed them in the past. Because of this we don’t go as often as we would otherwise. Serve ice was good, as it usually is. I recommend getting a drink in the Brown Room and ordering from the bar menu or a pizza from the Boiler Room.
Drinks, food and service were awesome! Going back soon!
Very very good! Great service and wonderful food would highly recommend!!
When we arrived the hostess sat us immediately and was very friendly! Our server was very nice and helpful answering our questions. The calamari we ordered was very good! The New England clam chowder was not hot at all just warm. The cheeseburger was pretty good. The strip steak was very tasty but more than one third was inedible, so much gristle. I expect some fat but the amount of gristle on the steak was unacceptable. The server did take the soup off the check.
Beautiful fireplace ambiance in the main room with reliable meals at fair prices. This is a great place to dine in the winter but don’t think it will be winter-empty as there is always a good crowd.
Matt was outstanding!
We went to The Blue Pig Tavern to celebrate my Fiancé‘s birthday and it was delicious! We will definitely return in the future!
Server seemed a little over committed but all in all a nice lunch!
Love the food and love Laura....such a great server!
For such a classy place their potatoes need some updating. They are no better than Dock Mike's and I haven't eaten there in years!
Great wait staff! Especially Laura. Good food and nice vibe. Especially with the fireplace going. Cozy and wintry !
Great location for a New Years meal. Varied menu. Service was friendly and fun.
I was able to get a 9 pm reservation for new years eve. We were seated in the back dining room that had zero ambiance... bright lights and you could clearly hear the band playing in the bar below this room. If I dine there again, I will request a table in another dining room. Oh well. Lesson learned.
Amazing atmosphere. Could offer more gluten free options. Find it to be a little pricey
The food was phenomenal, we had the steak special (beef cheek and strip loin) and the lobster special (lobster Newburgh) the service was a little lacking but it was also New Years Eve so I understand if there were bound to be some delays. Overall, I will definitely return and highly recommend anyone considering the Blue Pig Tavern for any occasion.
A family brunch for my daughter’s birthday. The food took a very long time to arrive but it was absolutely delicious. My husband had to request a glass of water 3 times until he actually got one. Other than that the food is always fabulous and it is one of our favorite destinations in Cape May
Delicious, great service. I had the peppermint creme brûlé for dessert. It was amazing
Beautiful place. Was very crowded due to town wide event. Very loud. Service was great. Food quality very good. Menu selection just average. Situated in a historical hotel that lends to the atmosphere. Could use better signage to guide patrons to the restaurant.
Very friendly service and food is excellent, must try the eggs!
A bit over priced and noisy, but that's typical for Congress Hall.
Night out with my spouse - pleasant experience.
Fun place in historic hotel with great food service and atmosphere. Can’t beat Christmas time in Cape May and this place is decked out with Christmas cheer.
Service was excellent. Ordered martinis and they brought them in wine glasses — for a nice place this was annoying. Food was good and ambiance is always nice at Congress Hall.
Fine place for lunch, but overall mediocre.
The Blue Pig is my favorite restaurant in Cape May. I bring all of my friends and family here to enjoy the great food, service and ambiance. Congress Hall has a great deal to offer to young and old alike which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable.
Tradition for us to come the day after Christmas and go to the shops in the village that the hotel sets up. Both were a disappointment.
We ordered soup, me a pork sandwich and my husband a fish sandwich. We also ordered iced tea. The soup arrived, lukewarm and then a few minutes later the tea arrived. The fish and the fries were soggy. Normally the place is a madhouse, lots of tables to be had. Last time for us.
This restaurant was just not the right place for my family. They were already out of the dinner that we wanted to order. I also felt there was not enough options on the menu. The steak and cake I ordered was very blah. Crab cake had no taste at all. It was also very expensive. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
We love the blue pig. However we were put into an almost conference room feeling area for our Christmas dinner . The point of Christmas there is the ambiance of the main rooms. We were utterly disappointed with the seating in the extended area. I wish we had been told this was a possibility.
We love driving down to Cape May especially for a few special occasions each year, and The Blue Pig Tavern is our favorite stop. We had a late lunch on Christmas Day, second year, and enjoyed it immensely! We arrived earlier than expected, and despite the crowd, we were seated immediately. Our waitress Lilia was exceptional! Very professional, personable, and responsive to our needs, she made our visit all the more enjoyable. Food wise, we nearly always begin with the New England Clam Chowder! Never disappoints!
I appreciated how quickly the took us to our table. The server was courteous and friendly. They took great care of us all the way through our dining experience. All the food was excellent and the Christmas decorations were beautiful. I’m so glad we chose them for our special Christmas dinner.
We enjoyed drinks at the bar, dinner on Christmas Eve, and Christmas morning breakfast. It’s a very nice lace.
Xmas Eve dinner. Decorations were perfect for the night.
Granted it was Christmas Eve and the Blue Pig was one of the very few restaurants open, but the food and service were not up to par. Server brought wrong drink order then took 15 minutes to bring the check after being asked for it, then another ten minutes to bring change. The food was over cooked, underseasoned and overpriced. The ambiance was delightful, cozy &a warm and nicely decorated for the holidays.
Nicely decorated for Christmas. Food and service was good.
Seated in the corner for dinner, which was ok. Lighting was so bad I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the menu not to mention unable to see the food I was eating!? Crab cake was ok. Little more breading than I would have expected for the price. This restaurant is good for breakfast and quick lunch. Waitress(Lily) was wonderful. Very engaged. Not going to schedule dinner here any time soon.
We were seated by the fireplace as requested. Service was wonderful and the food delicious as always!
Beautifully decorated for the holidays! Very attentive wait staff. A variety to choose on the menu reasonably priced. Worth the trip!
Natasha was great. Beautifully decorated. Lovely wood fire. Reliable fairly priced food and nice staff. Worth trying for sure!
Farm fresh food in an awesome seaside resort setting
