The Blue Ox Ratings and Reviews
The Blue Ox must be the only restaurant in Lynn, as it was packed to the rafters Saturday night, with a very loud crowd. They do not have much of a decor (very casual) but the food was truly delicious. We had the grilled pork tenderloin, rigatoni bolognese and a steak - all were great. I would have enjoyed it more if the lighting and atmosphere were better - but food is excellent, and our server was very good as well.
Restaurant was quiet...given that fact, felt as though kitchen was rushing our orders. Appetizers were still being consumed when waiter brought out entrees. Three courses and we were in & out in an hour—-not exactly the night out that we planned. Service was just mediocre given the fact that once again, it was quiet. Not the usual experience this time! 😞
Food was great. The service was so slow that we had to leave before we could order dessert. We had a 6:30 reservation which should have been plenty of time for appetizer, dinner and dessert, but by 9pm they hadn't even given us the dessert menus and we had a babysitter to get back to. I waited over 25 mins for a glass of wine and there was at least 30 minute wait between appetizer and entree. I don't mind a leisurely dinner, but this was excessively slow.
The Ox is so consistently good, it is the benchmark for any other restaurant. And most others fail to measure up. Creative cuisine. Great staff. Nice big drinks. Incredible flavors. We always feel so welcomed and special here. Nothing worse than a restaurant that acts like they are doing YOU a favor by letting you eat there. A very special place
We came here to celebrate my boyfriends' birthday since we heard it was a nice hole in the wall spot in downtown Lynn. We made reservations for a rainy night on a Tuesday and we ended up being able to choose where ever we wanted to sit. Nice clean spaces, dim lighting with nice but simple decorations around. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided us with the specials of the night. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. The lobster tacos seemed to be a little pricey for what was offered but they were still good...the wings were tasty. We had a citrus margarita and the blackberry nutmeg, those were nice as well. We both ordered burgers and fries which was a great portion size for the price. As for dessert we did the chocolate mousse with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel ice cream which were delicious. I would recommend!
My husband and I visit the Blue Ox whenever we can. We always have the best time and this visit was no different . Everything was just perfect from the drinks to the dessert. The service was amazing as well from the hostess to the bartenders who went above and beyond to make sure we got a seat in the bar on a busy Saturday night . Hands-down our favorite spot! Try the pear martini and the cinnamon ice cream!!
Service & food were fantastic! We had duck risotto, 2 Sin burgers, pear salad with flank steak & chowder. All were delicious! My friend said flank steak in salad was best steak she’s had! I highly recommend the duck risotto, but eat as much as you can, it’s not as tasty the next day! Service was great, very attentive & knowledgeable!
An all around good experience on New Years Eve. The food was exceptional and the service was top notch. The filet with Yukon mashed was so tasty and the croutons in the Caesar salad were outstanding. This is a must try for anyone in the area that likes quality food and great service.
New Years Eve last minute dinner reservation was available so I grabbed it . We arrived on time , the hostesses are always a bit disconnected here , they make very little eye contact, don’t smile, talk amongst themselves ... it’s uncomfortable . We waited only 5 minutes and were seated at a small table in the middle of the room . Menu was abbreviated for the holiday, I assume, and we were a bit hurried along but it was New Years Eve . Had a veteran waiter who was no nonsense . Cocktails were excellent , salad , bologneise, filet, toffee pudding , all excellent and delicious .
