We love the Blue Fish. However, my favorite roll has always been the Louisiana roll. If I find another sushi place with a crawfish roll, I’ll probably go there instead. Bring back the Louisiana roll!!!!
Our server was rude and not attentive. They moved my party from the bar to a table and then charged us full prices . I took my friend there for her birthday and it was a disaster. Will not come back nor will I recommend .
Overall good experience, nothing bad but nothing extraordinary.
Not very socially distanced
Quality of sashimi is EXCELLENT!!! and serving portions are very generous.
Terrible good and overpriced. Waitress was nice
Made reservation and they had us wait with no where to sit but outside for 30 mins we just left
We drove into town from Kingwood to celebrate a birthday. Sadly, the restaurant was closed due to kitchen remodel. I’m confused on how the company’s website and their online reservation system had no information on this matter. Downtown Friday night at 7 pm is hard to find a backup place with no reservation. I know this is a special situation. We will try it again here another time.
Love this place!!
Excellent food and a great place for family dining.
Great. There was a group of girls though that were very loud and being rude as far as tik Louis. Overly loud. Cheering and drinking and just bring disrespectful. A loud and having fun is great but they were being ghetto Loud and chanting.
In the future their water should have asked them to quiet down.
Like most Houston restaurants they are having a challenge being able to sustain and diversify menu options, etc. It is obvious management is trying to recover financially from the months they were closed. My sushi roll was so small so it is obvious you are trying to pass on higher prices to your clients. To preserve happy clients your restaurant will have to figure out how to balance being very careful about your food preparation. You want to keep your customer base so please be careful because we do notice quality or lack of it.
Everything tasted as expected.
Actually pretty good. Not too expensive and desserts were amazing
Food wise we are 5 different sushi rolls and they were average tasting. Definitely better than Chinese buffet but not much better than your average sushi bars around Houston. They were definitely understaffed for a Monday night.
One of our favorite sushi restaurants in town. We also love that the rewards program is available at all locations.
It was quiet enough to have a business meeting while enjoying great food for the three of us. The light rolls that are wrapped in thin cucumber slices are great and refreshing in the heat of summer!
We also love that there is a dedicated parking lot for customers.
So sad about what has happened to The Blue Fish! The sushi used to be generous, super fresh, and masterfully made. But now it’s skimpy, and my husband’s salmon roll wasn’t particularly fresh, nor was his tuna sushi. The tuna was not only scrappy and tiny, but also appeared as though it’d been sitting around awhile. They’ve finally made the wasabi sharper and with more flavor, but it looks like day-old avocado. The sushi portions, the rolls, seem smaller and the fish just isn’t fresh - as it was two years ago. Sushi is not beautifully plated as it once was; now it looks sad, small, paltry and kind of old. We’ve been coming to Blue Fish for almost 20 years (in Dallas before Houston) and the food used to be outstanding. Is the clientele reflecting the poor food? On a Saturday night, the restaurant was full of teenagers, babies, families and some drunk people. You used to have trouble even walking through the bar area because the entire restaurant was filled to capacity with smartly turned-out people. Tonight, it was only about one-third full and young professionals nowhere in sight. We would prefer higher prices and better food to the kind of cafeteria-style situation that exists now in the restaurant. Bright lights, non-fresh fish and non-chic clientele are a turn-off. They’ve also stopped putting out white tablecloths for parties with reservations. Not a good place for fresh sushi. The management tonight, however, was excellent, and our server was delightful. But the food here has really taken a dive. They’ve also altered the menu, and we missed some of our favorites. What a loss to our neighborhood!
Woodlands and Bayou locations seem much nicer. Although I know I came on a busy night, the service and maintenance of this location was far from service I’d give or expect on Valentine’s. I made reservations, even confirmed over the phone, but once I got there, there was a fifteen minute wait. After going to the bar to get a drink until our table was ready, the host came to move us but we had to carry our waters and cocktails (one hand to help one of us with the 5 drinks would’ve been nice) to the table. Server was nice but was busy, which I understand. The few times she came to the table, she was empty handed but left all appetizer plates and empty bar drinks to fill the table. Reservation was for nothing and hosts could use a little more training in FOH (front of house).
Was delightful and delicious
I had dinner with guest here recently . The food was fine and the service adequate with the exception of having everything we ordered including the appetizers served all at once. Everything we ordered all piled on the table . Note to self, order 1 item at a time.
Surprised that I was charged $2.75 for a club soda. My fault for not asking beforehand
The location is very convenient and easy to get to. I hate the valet only parking as there are always many of open spaces upon my arrival and leaving the restaurant. The food is excellent although they served the entrees one at a time causing other table guests to wait. This s somewhat of a problem when 5 or 6 menu items are ordered. In my case, one guest received all their food before anyone else received theirs. No complaints on service, food or spaciousness of the restaurant.
GF bday! It was quaint and nice!
Delicious meal!
The service was very slow. For two people, we were there for 2 hours. It shouldn't have taken that long.
Really enjoyed the food
Saturday night and wasn’t even packed.
Food wasn’t good at all. Sushi 1/10
The sushi was ok. Was looking for a better experience, this was just ok, not memorable, or special. For a casual sushi outing it will do
We had a great waitress and the overall vibe of the restaurant is very energetic and modern. We stopped in the cure our sushi craving, so we only ordered sushi. The quality of the sushi itself is fine, nothing spectacular. Also ordered a very basic cocktail that most restaurants/bars can make with ease, and it was disappointing. I do have to say that the service was outstanding, from the hostess at the front to our waiter and the food-runners who brought out our food when it was ready. I wish the food was better but we may return sometime in the future to give it another try since we live in the neighborhood.
Love the lunch bento box specials. Service was great as always. We'll be back
Wonderful food and dining experience!
Great service!
Excellent service and we enjoy the food.
The manager and waiter were very attentive.
Definitely I'll come back.
The food was delicious. Love the Bento Boxes for lunch and great deals at Happy Hour. Also, loved having George as our waiter. He always took such good care of me at Daily Review Cafe. He remains is and always has been an incredible part of the dining experience.
Great service!
Both the Rockets and Astros games were being shown in the bar area so it was louder than usual, but the atmosphere was great and as always the food and service was top notch.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Went for my birthday and everyone enjoyed the venue. If you have not been here definitely put it on your list of sushi restaurants.
The sushi was fresh. Service was not good. Waiter kept getting our orders mixed up. Items arrived that we didn't order, forgot to bring the drinks. Felt a little sterile
Rice in sushi was mushy making it difficult to eat. Tuna tower is quite tasty. Dumplings are always good. This restaurant has been good so many times before that we will return.
Our server Michelle was excellent ... very attentive to our large party. They have a great selection of rolls ... we loved everything and highly recommend the ahi tower.
