The food was amazing. The restaurant was beautiful especially the outdoor seating.
The food was excellent! The restaurant did not have any Rose wine. The waiter was excellent though very busy with tables. Cold air blew directly on the table from one large vent in the front.
Excellent ambiance, service and great food!
Excellent food !!!
Used to love this place. Quality of food and service has seriously degraded. Place seems dirty and poorly kept. Not sure what happened.
The restaurant was under staffed and the waitress had never waited on tables.
Chilean Sea Bass was listed as a daily special. Our waiter told us they ran out. My husband ordered snapper as his second choice and was told they were out of that, too. Seems like a fish restaurant should have ample fish especially if it's listed as a day's special.
Server Brian went awol halfway thru our meal...never returned. Never again on a Sunday.
Fantastically fresh and well-prepared cuisine, dynamic menu that had us order nearly all the appetizers and take our meal as small plates. Can't wait to go back to try some of their main fish plates across the variety of preparations they offer!
The food and service was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I ordered the bacon cheddar oysters and they did not disappoint! We both had mahi for our dinner and it was so good! We will definitely come back here if we travel back to Jacksonville.
We ate in the hidden outdoor seating area. Halibut was pretty good tasting but not particularly well presented. My friends snapper looked much better. My squash medley was al dente but the serving was scant. The orzo side dish was not very good. There was no bread presented. The worst part of our experience was the lack of table linens. The garden area could have been made to be very attractive but no effort whatsoever has been made to place potted trees or plants to create privacy or do anything st all to make the outdoor dining space attractive in any respect. The outdoor dining tables are made of cheap wrought iron mesh and a padded tablecloth should be provided at the very least. The experience of outdoor dining at Blue Fish was more like fine dining at a drive up ice cream store.
The evening parking situation in Avondale is a nightmare and Blue Fish’ s unmanned parking lot is a disaster with no valet. I had a lovely evening with my friend but I will not be choosing the Blue Fish or any other restaurant in the Avondale shopping district for dinner again.
Always great good and a great overall experience. Portions are pretty generous for such a nice restaurant. Was a nice early evening and the sliding door was open. Just like sitting outside but with a little less street noise.
Great Avondale spot for fresh seafood and drinks...very dependable food and service.
Enjoyed good food and great conversation with friends. Food presentation was great and everyone at the table enjoyed our meal and appetizers. Our server was very helpful and had good recommendations. We would definitely dine here again.
Disappointed. Several tables were empty and they tried to put me at the bar or at a high table which I cannot do so the only option was the patio where it was cold and wet with very uncomfortable chairs. I come for the oysters but even they were so small I couldn't taste them. Very disappointed in not worth my money.
Decided to have brunch here during a stopover in Jax. It was a Saturday afternoon and there were several birthday parties at the restaurant so the noise was quite loud. Food and drink were excellent, and service was attentive. The ‘fish’ options were light on the brunch menu. All in all, a good experience.
Awesome as usual
Great food and great service!
Food was average
Missed having the seafood gumbo on menu still shows it on line so a little disappointed
Chef Scott and the team have the best fish selections on any menu in N Florida. Well done
I wasn’t impressed by the hosts at the hostess stand. They had difficulty finding our reservation. Oysters on the half shell and mussels appetizers were wonderful. Server only came by to bring food and take our orders. I never received a refill of my drink. The shrimp and grits were messily plated and had too much sauce; the grits were too thick and clumpy. Macaroni and cheese with shrimp and scallops had way too much pasta and not enough seafood, but the components of the dish were tasty. The waiter came by to see us off, but his personality simply wasn’t remarkable. We probably won’t return as the service and plating were not what we have become accustomed to.
Easter brunch, the food was great, the only problem is they didn’t have any good coffee (the machine was down) which also meant no hot chocolate. Mimosas/Bloody Mary’s are only $1/$2 with the purchase of an entree, and delicious. The waffles, fried chicken, fried waffles were all very good. Overall, would recommend and eat there again.
Beautiful old building with good food served in portions too small for most. The dining room downstairs is nice, especially on a warm day. Upstairs dining room is stuffy and needs an update/renovation.
the hostess was pleasing and our table was ready- we have been to their brunch numerous times and we love it here. Our waitress was on top of the game- courteous and prompt- Drinks were great- bloody mary.
However, I had the eggs benedict with fried green tomatoes and potatoes- all cold- the eggs in benedict are supposed to be soft not hard- the hollandaise sauce is supposed to be a sauce not a glob of yellow substance - the potato was cold.
Husband had the eggs benedict with a chunk of crabmeat and shrimp- a tiny piece of crabmeat was all he got with the glob of hollandaise - cold potatoes. So sad - we loved coming here for brunches and special occasion- not sure if we will be back
Waiter told us it was his first day on the job and it showed.
It was great
Food good svc was ok I overall good day was busy day
The food was, as usual, well prepared and delicious, the service was attentive Burt not obtrusive.
The food and service were excellent!
This was the most amazing restaurant I’ve ever been to. Not too expensive, not too crowded. Just perfect. I’ll come back to Jacksonville just for this restaurant. Wyatt was the best waiter I have ever had. He was super quick, accommodating, understanding and absolutely amazing
Unfortunately this was a poor dining experience for someplace I was excited to try.
Great customer service ,delicious food served I the outdoor seating area. Selene our server was very attentive and friendly.
It was clean and quiet. I went just after happy hour. My date brought his professional camera and he was able to take pictures of me near the fountain out back and upstairs by the bar. The server was kind and gave great suggestions. And oh, did I mention the food AND drinks were excellent?!
Great place, delicious food..definitely recommend.
Food was delicious! But service was slow, some tables were going up to the bar to pick/order drinks themselves throughout our time there.
Excellent food and great service! Very nice restaurant.
Overall food service was excellent Had red beans and rice with Blacken chicken better than New Orleans best I've ever had Servixe was great thx Lilly 😊
We went for Happy Hour on a Sunday. The prices for Happy Hour were great. No wait to get a seat out back. Very friendly staff. Our waiter was either new or overwhelmed, but got the job done, slowly, but still did great for what he was working with. The mixed drinks aren't anything to write home about, typical sugary Florida out in the sun cold drinks...cheap and went down smooth. The wait on the food was a little odd, main dishes came out before apps, then we ordered more apps, only one came out. We cancelled the second one and after we paid the bill, the second one came out. Just a little miscommunication and possibly being busy. Overall, if you want cheap drinks, seafood/bar bites, friendly staff, this is a great spot to hangout in the sun. Oh, the Mahi Cubano Style sauce literally tasted like a flower flavored cigarette. The Mahi was great but that sauce 🤮.
Our server disappeared after she brought our dessert. Sh never asked for a refill on coffee. We sat on the sidewalk and not in the courtyard. The food and portions were fine.
