Very nice place. The service was a little slow, which was not understandable due to the place not being very busy, but our server was nice and the food was wonderful! We will definitely be back when we are in town.
Service is always hit or miss here. Took forever for bottle of wine to arrive at the table - actually oysters arrived before. Then when the oysters were dropped off there was no explanation of what was what (2 of each). Server didn't remove crackers and other stuff on table and due to table being a small 2 person table, we had stuff everywhere. Just not the attention to detail that you expect or know from other places in the neighborhood. I'll go back but I always expect slow service here.
Baked oyster appetizer was delicious
My herb crusted fish entrée was not herb crusted and rather bland
My wife's shrimp and scallop mac and cheese entrée wasn't cheesy at all although the seafood was great.
First had appetizer and a cocktail upstairs. Great waiter! Then had dinner downstairs. Fresh seafood, well prepared. Great service. Love when we can sit outside. Only complaint from our past few visits is the noise level.
Fresh fish options were great. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations on which sauces would be best for the fresh fish we selected. Loved the option to have “small plate” size which was perfect amount of food to leave room for appetizers or dessert. Had quiet table in back patio which was good for conversation with friends.
I've always enjoyed my experience at Blue Fish. Fortunately, not busy but my service was still slow.
Bland food, waiter was good though
This is a great place to eat in a very nice little area of Jacksonville. Highly recommended
Our waiter was very attentive. The food was extraordinary, the prices expensive but reasonable for the quality of food provided, and the atmosphere was just delightful.
The food was mediocre at best. We were disappointed. Service was slow but waitstaff was friendly and responsive when around. Seemed as if there weren’t sufficient servers. Probably won’t go back for dinner. The Blue Fish fell way short of its good reviews.
The food was delicious . The seafood was fresh. However, the service was slow. It took a long time for the waiter to even bring bread to the table. Maybe because it was Valentine Day weekend.
First rate staff. Exceptionally prepared food. A bit crowded and noisy at 5:30pm on a Saturday.
Good food will visit again when in the area. Good seafood restaurant.
This is our favorite local restaurant and we enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner there this week. The fish is fresh & delicious, and the sauces are very tasty. Its great that they have small portions that are not super expensive (although the small portions are not offered on special occasions like Valentines Day). I had the mixed grill & Anita had the lobster tail, and both were excellent. Our neighbor Matt is a chef there, and we have our favorite servers - Don, Katie, and Lauren, and we discovered a new server, Ryan, who was also great. Can't beat this place!
We went for a nice Valentines Day lunch and had a wonderful experience. Food and service were great. We will have to go back to try desserts!!
Very nice meal (4 of us). The only problem was waitress forgot to bring out a salad, but food was great.
Consistent food and service. I try to order from the daily specials . Enjoy the back patio and fountain when the weather is nice.
I think the restaurant will do better as they operate longer. Was disappointed in the food and the service but to be fair there were many items we saw at other tables that looked very appetizing.
Had reservations for 7:30P on a Saturday. Was not seated until 8:10P. Restaurant was loud, hard to hear our server and limited our conversation. Food was good.
Eight of us came here for my sister’s 60th birthday. Everything was excellent! Paul was our server and did a great job.
Hostess had to be asked twice to give us the table we requested. Finally did. Waiter was good but a bit overwhelmed by the Saturday evening crowd. Drink order a bit messed up but again he did try hard to satisfy.
Food was fantastic. Fish was fresh and cooked perfectly . Parking is still a challenge although they have a valet lot adjacent. Can be a bit noisy on Saturday night but thats part of the ambiance of having lots of conversations.
One of my favorite restaurants in Jacksonville.
Fabulous as always
The food was okay. Wine list was inexpensive but made up of commodity wines with a very limited selection. The issue was their ability to manage their reservations. Being seated 40 minutes after the reservation time was not acceptable. We will not be back.
Service was great, but was not all that impressed with the food. The set up of the restaurant was very tight, and makes it very hard to move.
Service was great, very good meal. The small plate / larger plate option was very nice (4oz vs. 8 oz. protein). My second time in, (business travel) I will go back.
Very small table. Could barely fit the menu on it. Hard to fit 2 plates in it.
Everything else was fine. I guess I just expected more for what I was paying.
Amazing food, amazing atmosphere... one of our favorite restaurants
Our server was friendly and explained the menu well. The food was tasty. The only problem we found was that it was a bit loud-the tables are close together.
The food was very good and we didn't have to wait to long.
Enjoyed our meal and service was very attentive. I accidently spilled a glass of wine which had just been refilled - they provided another one at no charge which was extremely nice of them. We always enjoy the Blue Fish!
Very noisy, service a bit confused. Fish was delicious.
Our server was sweet and attentive, the recommendations were spot on and food was excellent
We went for the Sunday Brunch. Outstanding! Great menu choices and a small buffet on the bar with excellent accompaniments. Service was professional and friendly. Moderate price and a value considering the quality. Spacious table seating. Best seating is at the window to watch the Avondale people traffic. Would strongly recommend and we will be back often.
Best seafood restaurant in Jacksonville. Excellent food, and gluten-free, too. Gets a little noisy at times and conversation can be difficult. I highly recommend Blue Fish.
Wow! Loved the fresh catch options. The Old Bay Mixed Grill (fish, scallops, and shrimp) was phenomenal, as was the blackened snapper with lump crab, served over a bed of red beans and rice that was velvety smooth and jazzed with just the right amount of Cajun seasoning and heat. They also have an impressive wine list and a delightful dessert menu. We will definitely be back!
While driving through Jacksonville we happened on this restaurant. Great meal in a fun area of Jacksonville. Highly recommend
We ate at Blue Fish before the symphony and Austin provided outstanding service. Our seafood was delicious including the gumbo and oysters on the half shell which started our meal. Wine list remains very reasonably priced which is a big plus for us.. The only disappointment was the behavior of the 3 young ladies at the hostess stand when I arrived. They were not very welcoming or helpful and although there were several tables in the main dining room, seated us near the door by the busy stairs leading to the second floor. After the couple at the table next to us left, I asked to move to that table and they grudgingly relented, "after the table was cleaned off" which they did not facilitate. Finally, we sat ourselves down 10 minutes later after the table was cleared and things significantly improved from there. If we hadn't had numerous excellent experiences at Blue Fish in the past, we might have left the restaurant to go elsewhere. But we will be back because of the food and service.....after being seated.
We haven’t eaten at Blue Fish in several years. We were headed to a concert nearby, after dinner. Our reservation was booked for convenience. It turned out to be even better than we anticipated!
Our dinner companion ordered two appetizers as his dinner/appetizer. His first dish was oysters, prepared two ways. He said they were excellent. His second selection was scallops finished with a rich butter sauce. Once again, he really enjoyed those.
My husband and I ordered two fresh fish preparations. We shared flounder with a butter pecan crust and snapper with a crab meat and feta cheese topping. They were both prepared perfectly! While my husband preferred the flounder, I could never make up my mind which was best. I would order either one again, in a heartbeat! Our server was very cordial and attentive, without being overbearing in the least. It was a very pleasant meal. When we are anywhere near the neighborhood again, we will be visiting Blue Fish to try out some of the other interesting sounding menu items.
The food is really tasty! It's mainly seafood-oriented (as the name implies) so I can't speak to other menu items, but I've been here a few times and gotten the fresh catch prepared a few ways, very good! Service could be a bit faster but overall no complaints - quality restaurant at a reasonable price!
Our first time trying this resurant was New Years Eve. Our meal was amazing and our server Jennifer just added the wonderful evening.
We can wait to go back and try Brunch
