Really nice restaurant - service was great and the fish preparations were unique and delicious.
I’m not a fan of the new menu. Server could not have been better. Food was only OK. Prices have increased significantly. The choices have decreased. The best item we had was the mixed salad.
Excellent fresh food, exceptional waiter, comfortable table and atmosphere. A little pricey but worth it!
Very disappointed in the change in menu. The small plate option was one of the wonderful things about this restaurant- perfect for kids, petite eaters etc. They increased the prices to what used to be the full size price, but reduced the portion size! Service was extremely slow...and it was a tuesday night....
The food and atmosphere was amazing. We came in for my birthday and had a large party. I made a reservation weeks ahead of time and we were seated fairly quickly after we got there. However, our waiter was extremely rude. I understand a large party can be overwhelming at times, but he was just rude and he kept elbowing one of my guests when he came to the table. Overall I would highly recommend this place.
My husband and I sat at the bar and wished we could have stayed longer. Spencer was attentive and made excellent suggestions. The atmosphere was lively and happy. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks!
Parking is a nightmare. I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by my waiter because he was busy taking pictures and flirting with the girls at the next table. I had to ask for bread after seeing another waiter deliver it to his table, this was after appetizers were delivered. The noise level was extremely loud, we could not hear each other across the 2 top table. The goat cheese salad was amazing, everything else lacked flavor. The menu is definitely overpriced.... $86 (before tip) for 2 apps, 2 small fish dishes and 2 waters. I don't mind paying for good food but this was not worth it.
Great food, slow service - had a reservation and it took 20 minutes for them to seat our party; waiter also allowed our alcoholic beverages to stay empty for most of the night; slow getting our food. Food was amazing when it came out and we were with a fun group so we enjoyed ourselves.
Scott, Rich and team always raising the bar at this great restaurant. Wonderful fish and service. This week Belon oysters, a very special treat you don’t find just anywhere..
Dinner was great. Oysters were delicious. Service was amazing. Only problem I had was I wanted outside seating near the fountain . But sat near the street. Other than that. Everything was superb thank you
The service was terrific and the food was fabulous.
Overall, it was pleasant. I had the Asian tuna and it was a bit over cooked. My friends had the mahi and said it was good. The service was good but it was so loud we could barely carry a conversation
WE took friends from out of town here for dinner. They thought the food was very good and enjoyed the atmosphere as well .
Overall, the experience was great. Our server Austin was amazing! Major props to him. The only thing that made is leave early was that the other servers started sweeping the floor while we were still eating. We found that to be a bit disrespectful because dust and whatever else could have gotten on our food.
Was disappointed with service. Rarely came by table. Reservation was for a birthday celebration with friends and that was never mentioned or recognized. Third time to restaraunt and first time to leave disappointed. Hope it’s better if we ever go back. Traveled from Tennessee and always try to eat there. Not sure now.
The service and meal was outstanding; each time I attend this restaurant, I'm never disappointed and would highly recommend this eatery to friends and family......I was completely satisfied!
The restaurant was recommended by our hotel and had good reviews, but I am sad to say was quite disappointing. We were seated quickly and had our server was quite pleasant as she brought drinks and appetizers. A 20 minute process to this point, but understandable on a Friday night. Then we waited... and waited. Then a server came to explain that they were out of one of the dishes we ordered. My companion selected another dish and we waited. After almost an hour, the manager came to apologize and let us know our food would be out shortly. I had plenty of time to go to the wonderful French bakery across the street. And after waiting more, my companion got her salad and my grilled fish arrived. Sadly, the fish was extremely over cooked and we waited even longer for 4 coconut shrimp. There were several points at which this meal could have been salvaged. I am sorry to say that I would not return. To err on a dish or have an off night happens, but it was a failure on so many levels.
Great food, always try the oysters!
Waiter was extremely pushy as to trying to get us to order as much as possible!
The food is consistently excellent! Choices on the menu are great! I highly recommend the crab dip! We had kids with us, so service felt a little slow. Though I can imagine if we were on a date and wanted to relax and linger, it may have been the right pace.
Great date night with my husband - the food is excellent ! They never disappoint in food - service and great wine!
The Blue Fish is consistently a great restaurant, and probably our favorite in Jax. The food and service are very good, and the menu is varied so you can go often and probably never have the same thing. I had oysters on this most recent visit and they were as good as I have had anywhere!
A family reunion with sons coming in from New Zealand and Missouri to see their parents in St Augustine—-we wanted a new place to experience together and this fulfilled all expectations! Thank you
Food was cold. We ordered The mussels appetizer and fish dinners. Our main course was delivered before the appetizer. They took it back and brought the mussels. They brought the main course back before we finished the mussels. Our fish was cold and over sauced. We sat alone in some back room like outcasts. Very unpleasant experience. Will not return.
Our party of 4 seated at table for 6 & we requested a vacant table for 4. We were reseated.
Disappointing that smaller portions no longer available. Larger portion of fish was too much! Fish too well done & Brie appetizer not melted ( hot) as described. Raw oysters fabulous.
We visit Blue Fish often because it's within walking distance of our house, the food is consistently delicious, the service is always top notch, and you can't beat their Happy Hour! Their outdoor seating is lovely and provides great people-watching opportunities. And when the weather is just right outside, they open the front glass doors, so essentially the whole restaurant is open-air. We just love this place.
Very disappointed in new menu- they removed the small plate option, which was perfect for kids/ less robust eaters. Pricing did not correlate either- they are now charging the old 8 oz price for a 6 oz piece of fish.
Our waiter seemed a bit harried, but was sweet natured and mostly attentive. It was a LOT noiser than I was expecting, but I think mostly due to a very large group all together directly behind us celebrating some kind of event ... the dishes were plentiful and tasty. Love the bread. I’ve made several visits to Blue Fish and have mostly enjoyed it.
My coworkers and I went there for lunch. None of us had been there before. It seemed the main problem is they were under staffed. Even though the majority of the restaurant was vacant, the few ppl working could not keep up with the handful of tables they had to tend to. There was no hostess at the podium when we arrived, we waited for a while until she came out from the back room, after being seated our waitress overall just took a long time to bring us our food, checked on us once and then took forever to get our checks and bring back our credit cards. I noticed she was making the cocktail drinks, cleaning, tending to other tables and just being stretched thin. Lunchtime just seems to not be the best time to eat at this place. Maybe at dinner there would be more wait staff and thus provide better service? Two of us had the trout and thought it was pretty good. Can’t remember what our other friend had.
It was our first time eating here and I was disappointed that the menu was changed at the restaurant but not online. We only went because of the online menu. And I thought at least the manager would come over and apologize.
Food was fantastic! Had to wait a little longer than normal to get our meals after we ordered-but it was worth the wait.
Blue Fish used to be the most outstanding seafood restaurant in Jacksonville. The last two times we have been there, we have been extremely disappointed. We were 2 couples and half of us did not enjoy the
seafood we were served; not flavored correctly or not prepared well. The food was mediocre and not worth the cost. However, our server (Jessica) was outstanding.
I love all of the preparation options. This place doesn’t disappoint.
The restaurant was clean. That must feel was great you get a great option to sit inside or outside. In the waiters looked all appropriate thank you
Our server was excellent and and very informative on the courses we ordered.
Valentines Day dinner.
The place was very nice on the inside, and the food was really good, if you don’t have a problem with texture this is a perfect place
We arrived five minutes late as the normal valet parking service was not available this evening for some reason, and greeted and told we’d be seated shortly. But 25 minutes later the co-hostesses had forgotten our reservation was pending, through miscommunications between themselves.
Once seated on the patio (which we highly recommend) the “many” heat lamps we were promised were two - for 16 tables on a chilly night. The only heater within 15 feet of us was taken by another table’s server to another section of the patio!
We learned they were out of their signature Crab soup, as well as one of the evening’s specials. Service was slow, and sporadic.
Still, our food was well prepared, if slightly under seasoned, and our entrees, duck breast and blackened triggerfish with crab and Cajun accompaniments were delicious.
The food here is always special. And it’s a great deal for the money. We’re accustomed to much better service. I think we just hit a night they were understaffed and overbooked. We’ll go back.
Saint Valentines Day
It's a very nice restaurant , but for the price it's not good at all the portions are very small yet on the pricy side. Ordered shrimp and grits full portion and got 8 shrimp ($25) . My fiance ordered crabcakes appetizer 2 crabcakes the size of silver dollars for $12. The pasta she ordered was a decent size portion but like the other food not much flavor. For $90 for 2 people I could have gotten way more and better food
