Jessica was the absolute best server! She was extremely attentive!
The main dishes and desserts were wonderful. Out waitress was top notch. Oysters to start were disappointing.
The food was great as usual. We will be back again.
Our server, Chris was terrific. made great suggestions, knows his oysters and his fish/preparation recommendations were spot on. Great all around. The place was loud and they are trying to address it.
We were seated in the courtyard which was lovely. It made us feel like we were on vacation somewhere! Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We had Brunch and it was wonderful! This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised to learn that there were complimentary appetizers and dessert included in our meal. The $1 mimosas and $2 Bloody Marys were hard to resist so we didn't! We enjoyed the blackened mahi, the cajun eggs benedict and a chicken fried chicken entrees. Each included yummy breakfast potatoes and grits. These were delicious as well! All in all it was excellent and we all can't wait to return to The Blue Fish restaurant!
I had been there before and this time was very disappointing. Food was bad for 2 people within my party of 3. They agreed to make it again and one was better (mahi was super dry and over cooked first time) but fried chicken was like rubber.
Not to their own past standards and definitely not worth for what you pay. Sadly that was our last time in blue fish. Ahh bourbon drink was also horrible. Not coming back.
Our server was excellent. She knew the ingredients and was able to steer us in the right direction to avoid food sensitivities.
Wonderful experience. We had a great table, nice waiter and the food was excellent. We had the Cuban fish and lobster ravioli.
Service was great, and food was awesome! Definitely recommend.
I enjoyed sitting outside and the mussels were delicious. I ordered a vodka martini but the waiter said he pressed the wrong button and it came with gin and had to be returned. I ordered dozen the house oysters raw but the waiter said they weren’t that good and needed to be steamed. I said I really loved raw oysters so the waiter said let me bring you better oysters. Was I surprised when I got the bill with 12 oysters at $3.00 each. Nothing on the menu showed the oysters available or price. I would have liked a heads up on the pricing. Did enjoy but glad I now have a heads up on how to jack up the bill
A neighborhood favorite. The service was prompt and perfunctory. We love their shrimp! No issues. I am wondering when they would ever have the time to give the courtyard area a little ‘TLC’ given their hours.
Excellent food, nice setup, enjoyed dining outdoor setting, restaurant opened doors/windows to create open space. Two mishaps: unfortunate a party set next to us and vaped which shortened our evening, then we had to wait 15 minutes and track the waiter to close out our ticket and return our credit card. Ugh! Kinda spoiled the evening.
So much better this time around. Came on a Sunday for brunch & it was not a good experience. My husband had hair in his food and the manager never came around or called me back when I called later. But this time everything was better!
I was really excited to try this place, but, instead, I received one of the worst service experiences from the staff, if not the worst. Our waiter deliberately ignored our table for 25 minutes, while serving other tables around us. He did see we were ready to make an order, but wouldn’t take it for some reason. He wouldn’t acknowledge our presence. When we spoke with the manager, Scott, he was not receptive of the problem at all. They need to understand that service is part of the experience.
We had Amber and she was wonderful. Very sweet and personable. Definitely back for more. Best happy hour! I did the Cabernet on happy hour (CK Mondavi) amazing wine and only $4.75 per glass!!
We went there for my husband birthday and with our family. Unfortunately upon getting there and getting seated the glasses were dirty with old lipstick and dirty finger prints. We told the waiter, he was not surprised about this at all, said sorry I’ll get you other ones. Then he changed glasses and the water had a bunch of things floating around, we asked for the manager to know but never had anyone come to the table to apologize or explain what the heck was happening with the dirty dishes. The second set of glasses and water were dirty too! The drinks we ordered took forever to arrive to our table and the restaurant wasn’t full or anything, we asked for a drink menu he said they didn’t have one, but We overheard the waitress next to us explaining to another table their cocktail menu. And on tops of all of that they charge a 20% automatic gratuity on the bills. Witch should only be charged for excellent service, which we did not get. The food was ok. Worst experience ever. I will not be coming back to this restaurant ever. Please teach your dishwasher how to properly wash dishes, get a better water and ice filter. And train your waiters. Also don’t charge for an automatic 20% tip, when you are your team knows they don’t deserve it.
The food and the service was excellent! I will definitely visit again!
Server wasn’t the greatest. My husbands chicken came out with hair in it but the manager never came around to apologize. The server never refreshed drinks or asked if we needed to go boxes. He just wasn’t very observant. Food was great!
The Bluefish seems to have lost it's touch. The meal was stone cold upon delivery to the table. Maybe it's the new chef or kitchen staff? The service was very good. There needs to be some changes, and quick.
Ordered one of the specials..Snapper with a creamy crab sauce with amazing scalloped potatoes and sauted spinach. Cant wait to go back.
Great food, drinks and ambiance. The waiter Salem was fabulous. Highly recommend the Benedict Flight during brunch!
The experience was ok. Service was a bit iffy for a Friday night. I ordered a to go order as my main entree was received and had to send it back 3x before it was right. Overall it was ok. I’d go back again.
The food has actually gotten better over the years.
Very glad hey are keeping their standards high.
Mothers Day. Waiter was nice but they were understaffed
I had a 12:15p reservation. We weren’t seated until almost 1p. When I expressed my concerns with the hostess, she was rude and dismissive. Although the food was great and our server was good, I won’t be returning anytime soon because of the rude attitude and behavior of the hostess.
The food was amazing. The restaurant was beautiful especially the outdoor seating.
The food was excellent! The restaurant did not have any Rose wine. The waiter was excellent though very busy with tables. Cold air blew directly on the table from one large vent in the front.
Excellent food !!!
Excellent ambiance, service and great food!
Our girls brunch was delightful. The food was delicious and prepared to order. Our server was outstanding! And this was with only one other server in the main dining room and front patio area. I so wish I could remember her name. She was awesome. I must mention they were preparing for either a wedding or wedding reception in another area so that may have impacted staffing. Regardless, at this time when so many restaurants are dealing with shortages in staff, Blue Fish and staff came through with flying colors. We will definitely return. I highly recommend Blue Fish.
Used to love this place. Quality of food and service has seriously degraded. Place seems dirty and poorly kept. Not sure what happened.
I reserved a table outside but was told that area was unavailable. This occurred after we waited to be seated. Yes, I made a reservation. Once seated it was at least ten minutes before a waiter appeared. He apologized and said he was pulled from a party in the back to take care of us. He was friendly and made suggestions about the food. My fish sandwich was not hot snd my friend’s chicken piccata was simply okay. Blue Fish is usually one of my favorite spots and I will assume Friday was an off day.
The restaurant was under staffed and the waitress had never waited on tables.
Chilean Sea Bass was listed as a daily special. Our waiter told us they ran out. My husband ordered snapper as his second choice and was told they were out of that, too. Seems like a fish restaurant should have ample fish especially if it's listed as a day's special.
Server Brian went awol halfway thru our meal...never returned. Never again on a Sunday.
Fantastically fresh and well-prepared cuisine, dynamic menu that had us order nearly all the appetizers and take our meal as small plates. Can't wait to go back to try some of their main fish plates across the variety of preparations they offer!
The food and service was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I ordered the bacon cheddar oysters and they did not disappoint! We both had mahi for our dinner and it was so good! We will definitely come back here if we travel back to Jacksonville.
We ate in the hidden outdoor seating area. Halibut was pretty good tasting but not particularly well presented. My friends snapper looked much better. My squash medley was al dente but the serving was scant. The orzo side dish was not very good. There was no bread presented. The worst part of our experience was the lack of table linens. The garden area could have been made to be very attractive but no effort whatsoever has been made to place potted trees or plants to create privacy or do anything st all to make the outdoor dining space attractive in any respect. The outdoor dining tables are made of cheap wrought iron mesh and a padded tablecloth should be provided at the very least. The experience of outdoor dining at Blue Fish was more like fine dining at a drive up ice cream store.
The evening parking situation in Avondale is a nightmare and Blue Fish’ s unmanned parking lot is a disaster with no valet. I had a lovely evening with my friend but I will not be choosing the Blue Fish or any other restaurant in the Avondale shopping district for dinner again.
Always great good and a great overall experience. Portions are pretty generous for such a nice restaurant. Was a nice early evening and the sliding door was open. Just like sitting outside but with a little less street noise.
Great Avondale spot for fresh seafood and drinks...very dependable food and service.
