The Blue Fish - Greenville Ave Ratings and Reviews
We had a party of three on Sunday evening. There were no other guests ahead of us as we walked in, but still had to stand at the host stand/entry for almost five minutes before being seated. The server was nice. A bit soft spoken, but informative and polite and checked on us regularly. The sushi was decent and the prices were reasonable. We will probably try it again in the future, but we didn't leave wanting to return right away.
The sashimi salad was perfect!! Worth $20! So good!!! Husband had a few rolls and ate every bite, which is not typical. Rolls were excellent. Wine selection is perfect and half off bottles on Sunday. Win win. Sat on the patio and got sprinkled on a little bit, but it wasn't raining hard, thank goodness. Food is always fresh and tasty. We will continue to make the drive to get sushi that's so fresh, great service and valet parking!
The service was terrible and slow. Our server was NO where to be found. It took about 45 minutes for us to finally have our appetizers delivered, then another 40 minutes for our 2 simple rolls to be given. Upon asking where our food was, our server said "oh no one has brought it to you"? Granted, the restaurant was not even packed at 9:15 pm.
Choose elsewhere if you plan on having a date night.
The hostess wore a scowl and was ill tempered. The place was mostly empty but we waited quite a while for service. When we used the menus we had been given we were told they were lunch menus and we couldn't order from the lunch menu. When we did order some wine we waited for a while then we were told they were out, so we ordered a different wine and waited... the sushi was good but the overall experience was not.
We had great expectations after having dined at the Blue Fish in north Dallas. Those expectations were not met at the Blue Fish Greenville. The Alaska roll was just alright, with nothing spectacular about it. I have had better Alaska roll at Eatzi's. However, both our orders from the dinner menu (steak teriyaki and Chilean sea bass) were terrible. The vegetables tasted like microwaved frozen vegetables, not fresh. The steak seemed like it had been sitting for some time and had cooled off before being delivered to the table.
I'm sure if we had just ordered sushi it might have been ok, but for the price of the items on the dinner menu, we probably would have been better off finding a different restaurant.
Solid sushi menu. Love the ahi tower! Squid salad and firecracker roll are consistently yummy. This is a very busy restaurant, so one should consider reservations. Also, they seem chronically understaffed, so service is frequently VERY slow. A bit on the pricey side and very loud!
A little busy when we came 5-10 min wait , while they buss tables. One of the main hostess was a little rude about my open table reservation, I was trying to pull up the reservation info. It was for 8:45 we did get there early , didn't mind the wait. She sat us , made sure the other hostess was aware of our rsvp. Other then that our waitress was excellent , Food was decent , I enjoyed the tuna tower more then the rolls . 3 stars
Mixed bag on this trip. The food as always was fantastic. The Ikura was tasty and fresh. The service though was hyper-expedited if you will. We placed an order for soup and salads and before we were finished our hot rock appetizer came. Then while we were still eating the hot rock dish, all of our entrees came. The service felt very rushed as tho they wanted to turn the table and get ready for the next dinner service asap. A bit more pacing between courses would have been appreciated.
The restaurant was very pretty inside. The service was great. It was so cold we opted to eat on the patio. My friend had the veggie roll and said it was outstanding! I had the volcano roll and it smelled funny when I got to it. I should have said something but did not want to embarrass my friend. I ate two bites and said Noooooooo . Glad I stopped I will not order that again.
Sushi rolls were good, as was the tempura. But have had better.
Nice bar setting with TVs showing football was nice. We sat at table. It was very noisy. Next time we would sut at bar. Service was very good, but felt a little, rushed when we were finishing meal. Overall good choice near the Granada Theater
Service was poor. Miso soup and appetizers can out after our first two rolls... seating is to maximize clientele in dining area, not to benefit the patron at all. Little elbow room. Recommend the patio on a nice night or the sushi bar. Avoid the server stations. They are far too close to the tables.
This is my second time visiting The Blue Fish on Greenville Ave and it was an okay experience. I made a reservation for 5 people yet we were seated at a table of four. We asked to be moved to a bigger table and the response was that they had other reservations, bigger ones, and couldn't move us. Although, they were not rude about the way of letting me know, it was a disappointment to me and my party. I'm not sure that I would go back, maybe if it's during the week but I would definitely not recommend any parties over 4 people to go there especially on a weekend.
