There aren't that many options for a very nice place to eat near the Hobby Center - which is extremely disappointing! When you use Open Table, you use it make reservations because you assume this place is busy and you NEED to make reservations. Also, you would, again "assume", that when making a reservation you are treated a little better. If a person went to the trouble to make a reservation that obviously means they have done some research and want to make sure they have a nice place to dine. After dinner I realized that making a reservation gained us nothing! 1) There were plenty of empty tables. (Reservation was at 6pm). 2) The hostess was not friendly. She seated us at a small table with no view. The table next to us was for 4 with a great view. I almost requested it but thought they must be saving it for a larger party. Stupid me for not being assertive because less than five minutes later she sat a couple at the larger table AND they didn't have reservations. 3) Why oh why do you bother asking online if we are celebrating anything if you aren't going to recognize it?! Delete that question if you aren't going to care!! Pro: The food was good - especially the tower but $2.00 for the chips was too high for how many chips you get - 4. That was ridiculous! The waiter, Chase, was very good and we tipped him well. Next time we will go some place else even though we will have to park two different times to attend an event after our dinner. And, I am confident that the only reason they are slightly busy is because there is only two alternatives near by.
Wonderful food but our table was next to a pole and the bathroom it was rather inconvenient. Besides that everything was wonderful and I highly recommend this restaurant.
Chris was our service provider and he was fabulous.
Our favorite is the tower....one of my favorite dishes in Htown!

Everything was delightful. The only small improvement needed is the tofu small plate they offer. It was rather bland.
We had a great meal being going to the Wortham. Seafood poke bowl for my wife and several vegetarian options for me. Excellent food, above-and-beyond attentive service, and right across the street from the theater with no over crowding. We'll do this again!
What is the point of making a reservation if when you arrive to the place they give another a better table to a couple that has just got to the place and instead I got one next to the trash? Very disappointing.
Food was delicious. The 121 roll was amazing, the thin sliced tuna and salmon were divine. Everyone was nice, friendly and our food was brought out quickly. Yet we were sat in a high traffic area, during a busy time, so it was a bit chaotic. Other than that I give it 5 stars.
Great food, but if you are there prior to attending a theatre production, let them know when you will need to leave! Service is not good. We often waited 20 minutes to receive something we had ordered. Fortunately, we had allowed 2 hours for our meal prior to our production at the Wortham.
Bar service was great. We got to our reservation early, so grabbed drinks and an appetizer for happy hour. Went to our table 30 minutes later. Ordered drinks with our server Mark. He came back a few minutes later to take our food order. After waiting 20 minutes, our food came but our drinks never did. We had to flag down multiple people to ask for our drinks, which came in different intervals. The follow up was poor and we barely saw our server again to ask for anything else. At the point, we gave up and only wanted our checks once we saw him in the dining room. Party of 6 at 6pm on a Saturday. Won’t be back to this location
Didn’t get greeted as expected. No happy birthday to my girlfriend no detailed receipt.
Some of the food was very spice. The waiter made an error and the short rib was more bone than meat.

Excellent suchi etc. we go there for pre- theatre dining and it is definitely the best among the few nearby.
The food is awesome. The server stopped by every 3 minutes to interrupt our conversation to ask how our meal was. Half way through the meal they cranked up the music so we couldn't talk.
The food was only fair. The salmon wasn’t great and the sashimi was large and extremely poorly cut. In general things were just so so.
I ordered a hand roll, but was charged for a full roll. If the server had told me the price was the same, I would have gotten the full roll. More open communication with the customer would be appreciated. Delicious food.
The particular server we had was not very experienced and failed on many levels to provide great service. He was never rude, but just overall was not very attentive to our table.
But we go because we have theater tickets that are set to Sunday evenings in our subscription. The great thing about this place is that Sunday evenings are half price bottle wine nights. So that helps.
I was with a party of six. Service was somewhat slow. Table seated after us had food before us. Everyone at our table was served and I was told mine would be out right away. Waiter disappeared and when my family was more that halfway done eating my tempura plate came out from the kitchen. I’m not sure who brought it out but it wasn’t our server. Then when I took a bite it was cold. Since we were going to a play and had no time for them to recook something so I ate part of it. I didn’t want to make a big fuss in front of everyone else. Cold fried food is awful. When I went to the bathroom our waiter was standing against the wall on the other side of the restaurant. I’m not sure who’s fault the cold forgotten food was but I won’t be back. I should have told my husband as he tipped him $30.00.
Was seated at a roomy well positioned table. Food was very good and brought out timely. Service was good.

Lukewarm food and room temperature wine. The service was not very attentive except for the bus staff who kept our water glasses filled. The dessert, a wonton strawberry tower, was good.

We always like to go there before going to the orchestra. they are reliable and we know that we will be on time to assist the presentation . The food is always good
Excellent service and great food. The Tropical Salmon dinner was perfectly prepared and presented. The Ahi Tower is always a favorite, both the full tower for Mom and the mini tower from the happy hour menu for our daughter. The spicy salmon on rice cakes will be another favorite, as well as the Rain Forest roll. Francisco served us with professionalism and warm courtesy. We return as often as we can for a truly great dining experience.

The restaurant was filthy. Immediately when we approached the front door I noticed how smudged and dirty the glass front doors were. It was obvious they had not been cleaned in a while. When we were seated there were napkins and food on the floor. When I went to the ladies restroom there was toilet paper all over the floor. It had not been checked on or serviced in a long while. The waiter rushed us to order because he said the kitchen and the sushi chefs were backed up, but then the food all came out all at once and quickly. We felt rushed. The manager came by to say thank you for coming, but did not ask how anything was. Did not pick up the napkins on the floor or attempt to sweep up food or dirt or delegate it to be done. The food presentation was great. Most everything tasted great, but the overall experience was just a let down.
Service was so slow even though there were less than 10 people in the restaurant. I let the manager know after 45 minutes. She never bothered to check back in with us. Food was good, but expect sub par service with management who does not really seem to care.
if you are going to the Theatre District downtown Houston, the Blue Fish is a convenient place for dinner. Sushi specialty and some other hot dishes are available. The food was good and reasonably priced. I did not give it a higher rating because the floor was sticky on way to our table and after I put my arms on table and my jacket stuck, my side of the table was not properly cleaned. Our server Jenna was very courteous and made sure we got out in time for our Houston Symphony performance.
Service in general was very good and we were well taken care of. We will probably go there again in the future.
With our reservation, we walked right in to a great window table with a stunning view of Houston’s downtown skyscrapers.
The food, including tempura seafood, citrus salmon, dragon roll and dessert, was beyond delicious.

My wife decided to make the time to come meet me for lunch downtown and I opted to take her here. We were very happy with the food, but the waiter was curt, unfriendly, impatient and argumentative.
The sushi was average. Service was excellent. Our server accommodated our schedule before a show.
It was still pretty busy on Sunday for lunch and the restaurant seemed to be understaffed for a crowd of people attending the Nutcracker. Nonetheless, the waiters tried to be attentive but it took a bit longer. The kids meal was poorly prepared. The short rib was overcooked. The sushi was good. I did not care for the summer rolls.

The server was quite knowledgable about the menu, listened carefully to what we wanted, and gave excellent recommendations. He was attentive yet not intrusive; the food and drinks came out quickly. The house special rolls -- especially the Blue Fish cucumber roll - are outstanding! It was a little warm in the restaurant, increasingly so as it filled up, but certainly not unbearable. The Blue Fish has mastered the pre-theater crowd rush without sacrificing service or quality. Kudos!
